Hayato is actually a traditionalist and was the one who helped Honse fake the destruction of his Ki channels

Now that that's out of the way, I really do like Hayato and I think he's a good foil to Gangryong, he's much more calm and collected whereas Gangryrong is very brash and brutish and they both sue traditional arts that they're very covetous of and have had to to struggle to learn due to extenuating circumstances
