FT: [Character] Happy

So the 5th member of "The strogest team of Fairy Tail". The perverted, speaking cat Happy, which can use Wing Magic.
So lets discuss!

I wonder why Happy has magical power, I mean he is a cat and sofar we never saw another animal have magical power. Do you think this mystery will ever get revealed?

But maybe there is a reason behind the fact he can talk and fly (and being pervert)...anyway, it's really one of the best character, at least a funny one!

i dont think he serves as an additional char only, if 'additional char' to me is the same as yours :). personally, i think that there would be an arc for happy, where his background would be revealed, so yup, i agree with shinobi and would like to know happy's history and how he meet with natsu :D

overall, i find happy to be kinda responsible and trustworthy, for he did not run away when natsu was in trouble and instead, help him. fake friends would not do that. they would turn their heads n run. and i see perseverance in him. he did not give up when he carried natsu to the dark guild's master in the arc where they meet erza. and finally, i find him humorous. well, particularly because he sees things in a different way than us.

so, i think of happy as not just a simple, ordinary cute cat , although in fact, it is :D

Happy isnt addition character , addition character must apeear in some chapter maybe not above 5 chapter that have the main role and in other chapter they will appear only in a little box , example of addition character like Reedus Johnner , Nav Lazaro , Arzak Cornell , but Happy is apear in a loy of chapter so he is one of the main character

i hope we will see the past of Happy like how he met Natsu? or how he use magic?

You can't use proper magic if your body is transformed into a cat I guess,.. anyhow, he want's to keep his identity a secret; or perhaps it's a side-effect to the fumbled immortality magic, that his magic was mostly sealed..

happy is more like a side-kick, gets natsu out of those tight situations (normally when he does something stupid... lol. At the start of the manga i thought he was obsolete, and some cat like gimini cricket, lol. But he's definitely a fine member as well in fairy tail. which makes me wonder his origins of how he got to become one.

happy is a friend of natsu, so maybe happy has some connection to dragons ? we haven't seen other animals with abilities, but that could just be because they exist in the world and none of the main characters have one. But since the cat girl found it strange that happy could talk, it makes happy even weirder. I like the idea that maybe he is a sealed mage, but at times he seems young ? I don't think he can do any other magic than make wings....he is a cat after all. But he does provide humor and he seems to always be explaining things to lucy that are usefull for us readers.

Happy rules. Finally, a mascot character who doesn't suck. Plus, he atually has an impact on the story, like Natsu oing off to save him in the tower of Paradise Arc.

Natsu think that Happy is his friend not the vehicle , so that he didnt sick when Happy lift him away , so i think that the way for Natsu to be dont sick when transport is think that all of vehicle like train or boat are his friend

I was rereading demon arc. and happy calls himself a mage (http://www.onemanga.com/Fairy_Tail/32/02/). Although, he could just mean that he is from fairy tail too(?). I'm more willing to believe he is a sealed mage or something. but I don't know how that connects to igneels and natsu ? I hope he is more than just comic relief....

I think Happy is a powerful mage. Moreover I think, here goes, that Happy is Gildartz.

The reason the Master didn't consider Gildartz for next Master is because there was a slight problem: He's currently a cat who can do nothing but fly for short amounts of time.

And that blue color is certainly unatural, points to the fact that he was turned into a cat, and not a cat originally.

But if he was powerfull, why didn't he helped Lucy for example during the arc with Loki and such. There is a lot of moment when he could have use his power when he was alone (when he was kidnaped by the cat girl during the arc with Gerard).
For me, it's as simple as it is, it's a blue cat speaking and which can use a wing magic (it's the same as trying to understand why griffith in Rave is speaking, and who are Plue or Nakajima, the "flower" on Haru's wall)...Mashiro just like to draw strange characters nothing more

I would say until this Point Happy is just a comic relief but I also think that there is a great possibility that he will become important.
Since we already saw another Dragonslayer with a "Cat" (Wendy) I really think that they must have some connections to the Dragons even if they don't know it themselves.

or or... natsu brough home that egg which became happy and we don't know where he got the egg from. maybe he met wendy or partically met wendy at that time.... and wendy also got an egg with her cat....

Happy's badass. IN HIS OWN WAY.

I mean, a talking cat that can do magic, no matter what kind of magic it is, is badass in and of itself. Then, there's the fact that he fulfills the role of both manga-mascot and a main character. Comedy relief is always a good thing in action manga -- If there's no comedy at all, then it can get mighty~ depressing. And finally, his dedication to Natsu is VERY touching. Plus, the way he eats fish is just f##king adorable.

I love Wikipedia. Yes I do. So, what do you all think? Could Happy's, and perhaps Charle's, species be based on the Cat Sith? That would make sense, considering all of the mythology themes goin' on all up in this manga. 'Salamander', 'Dragon'...Both are seen in Western mythology, so why not other creatures from Western mythology? And if their species is based on the Cat Sith, this could open up all sorts of possibilities...What if, for some reason, they both used to be Mages, but as some sort of punishment or some kind of spell gone awry, they were reconstituted into cat creatures that hatched from eggs? It's wild speculation, but it would make some sense.

Oh, and before I forget -- Poor Happy! Will he ever win Charle's approval and affections!?

Happy is comic relief/mascot. (IE. Plue/Griff/half of the Rave Master characters)
He does have his useful moments like during the Phantom arc and in the Natsu v Cobra fight though.

Happy is just the best pet on an anime so far, since plue was the main pet in rave, u really dont see he in fairy tail unless he is with lucy, and lucy summons him once an while, so that makes happy the main pet because he is the pet of the main character
