Kinda. It can be confusing trying to keep all the Nazi's straight. They all die so fast without a fight and never really explain where they stand. I also don't know anything about Alucard because I'm trying to buy all the volumes and not read them online. I'm only at the part where they're attacking Hellsing Headquarters. I can't find volume 7.

I LOVE HELLSING!!!! This is one of the greatest mangas I have ever read!
I love how Hirano used a mixture of history and just pure philosophy and human complexity into it. I really want to understand the Major's motives and the complex relationship of the residents of Hellsing. Also I want to know the reason for Walter's betrayal!!!! I also hope Seras and Pip won that fight against the werewolf!

Hmmm, that would kind of make sense! That means Walter died in Warsaw 1944 on the mission with Alucard. But I believe if it went down like that Walter is getting off too easy (you know erase memory, cant be held accountable for his actions), I think if Walter actually acted out the betrayal it would be a more compelling storyline! Also I want to know the reason why the major wanted his blood to be taken by Alcuard! I know that it’s some form of him being a part of Alucard and also some way to destroy him too!

The anime is not so good but the OVAs and manga are great.

Why is it that people always say "The book is better"?

I read it once in a one piece thread, people trying to argue about the anime, saying the manga is a lot better. Dont get me wrong, I also keep track of hellsing releases, I think the manga is better than the anime too. But why is it that I think like that? Is it just because it has a better plot?

Maybe every anime is bound to screw up the original work somehow. Maybe its just coincidence... yeah thats it. Death Note made a very decent anime version.

WELL! my hypothesis on that is! That Walter has been betraying the hellsing family since 1944! I think why Alucard has changed into his girlycard apperance is to be more meaningful and to get into walter's head! ( remember: alucard likes to play with his food)!

Oh to the other question why the manga is usually better! Its because in the manga the creator has more liberties since its their story. While the anime most of the time is an interpretation of the story! Its more of the directors vision. The best example i can think of where manga creator and the director clash is Excel Saga!

On another topic... They mentioned that blood is the currency of soul, hence Alucard can "summon" armies of people he "consumed", but I wanted to know this: he wants Victoria to drink his blood, would that transfer ALL his powers to her? Has he created her so she can take his place? When he fights he always seems like he wants to die... Your thoughts?

he wants to die because when he does release everything(Like he did) i think its lvl 0 or something thats the only time he can die. when he doesnt release them hes immortal

I think he can do that release even if he doesn't get hit. It's just a way of controlling himself and not overdoing it on simpler enemies. Something like bankai... It's more like he's sick of it all, you know... He lived for five hundred years and now he wants to rest, but can't leave his master unprotected...

He calls it "Cromwell release....", so, my guess is it's meant to protect innocent people from getting hurt. Like, he can't just kill and/or feed of anybody... Probably part of the deal with the original van Hellsing.

The Captain dies after being stabbed by Pip and burns up with a smile on his face, Schroedinger commits suicide shortly afterwards by cutting his head off and falling into the stream of blood flowing towards Alucard. Meanwhile Integra confronts the Major but is unable to kill him due to some kind of barrier between them.

For me, I am a long time fan of Hellsing the major difference between the manga and the anime both OVA and original set is that the characters are quite different and so is the stylization. The manga is far more while, whimsical and Alucard is not a humorless robot that kills stuff. Seras is not useless (well she becomes less useless later), and there is far more character development, the dialog is better, etc..

I know, your going to say. "its the manga of course it has all that, cause anime has to run about 30 mins and fit 60 pages in per episode!"

Still that is the one thing I always disliked about anime (there are a few exceptions) they always change way to much or add things that are not needed. If anyone here has watched the OVA its visually stimulating the colors, the blood, I mean its ****en sexy. Still the biggest crit I had was the skipping around and the lack of decent dialog. Which is my fault for watching the English version, but I am lazy and I don't want to read. I want to watch him own everyone. Eh, I am just too picky.

Volume 9, containing chapters from 71 to 85 was released in Japan last month. The Dark Horse translation will probably be out by the end of 2008.

Alucard released to level zero, because 1) it was Integra's order, and 2) he really had no other choice. Had he fought by himself, the two armies around him would've just ripped him apart all over and over again. He had to counter that mass with a mass of equal evil, and releasing all of his power was the easiest way to do that.

And I think Integra means just what she says there. What's there to explain?

Blood + I love the movie, and the series was great, beautifully animated and well voiced. Its always been my opinion that bad voice acting can break an series no matter how good the story, animation, or dialog.

Yeah as for the hellsing anime I decided to wait for all the OVAs and...I bought the trigun box set instead..ahahah

Yes Nope if you noticed the Major is immortal. Go back to chapter 87 and watch him deflect Integra's sword slashes without moving. Also when you first see his past. He gets shot about 20 times and lives. And got beaten to a bloody pulp.
