Rules:

Each contest will have a theme and the poem has to relate to the theme or it will not be a valid entry.

You will be given 2 weeks to create the poem.

You can’t use a previously made poem. If you do, your entry will not be a valid entry.

One poem per person.

There will be a thread for posting entries only. There will be a [separate thread] (http://forum.onemanga.com/showthread.php?t=49872) open for discussion and to answer any questions you may have.

You may change your entry at any time before the contest closes.

Put the whole poem in spoiler tags.

Please try to put the title in bold and in size 4 or 5.

Please try to put the poem in size 3 or 4. [I][This and the previous rule are intended to keep sizes reasonable, and to make it clear if the title is separate. Use common sense, and it will be accepted. Thanks.]

The theme this time is PERSISTENCE as chosen at random by, ThinkMooInc.

The Entry Thread will close on Thursday, November 19th around this time [look at time of post].
Once again, we always appreciate new contestants! :]

the death's hate

deflect our talk toward something piffling
Reject the thought of some old fate
To something that come to his spring
Brand new life under one hate

The cub has his future between his jaws
Knows already what it takes to live
But Ignores what he will have to strive
Feels the hard ground under his paws

we can run, we can forsake
we can live, we can be free
we can try to forget or agree
we can never escape

trying to keep distance
of the winter that bring every lives
of the death that strikes like knifes
but it takes even the luckiest , even the more persistent

A Stronger Sound

We can walk far away
We can cover our eyes
But the dirt still remains
When we wash hands with lies

No treasures will lay in the hands
Of those who play fool
There is no threat in death's demands
If you live in full
So lift your back don't bite your tongue
There's hope for the strong
Suck precious air into your lungs
You'll know you belong

We can avert our gaze
We can pray to the sky
But no lack of courage
Can ever justify

We are more than muscle and bone
Oh we are a sound
And we refuse to stand alone
Our feet shake the ground
So who will you become tonight
A man lesser still
Or will you shed your fear and fight
Cause we've time to kill

We can be tougher yet
We can say our goodbyes
But wings without passion
Won't take us to the sky

The Audacity of Hope

I force my legs, even as they cry out in rebellion
With solid will I push for the final mile
My biceps bulge, to the breaking point they stretch
No! No! I shall conquer! I shall break free!

Fire and brimstone devour my sweat
I have tired of counting since eons past
The pints of blood, the sea of tears
They mingle and mix, meaninglessly forgotten

The slope begins to breathe easier
My cruel heart beats faster in anticipation
Knowing full well the sweetness of despite
If only I was struck blind at this very moment

The horrible weight is lifted from my shoulders
Gasping short for breath, I look on blankly
Down down down down it ponderously rolls
I gnash my teeth as my doom is proclaimed anew

I look back upon the endless hills
I look forward upon the infinite mountains
In this red skied hell there is no rest for the wicked
I crawl down to the darkness yet again

Bend my muscles beyond their power
Challenge my bones beyond their strength
Oh how the damned toil for this fleeting balm
Of repeated false hope in challenge for redemption

Killing an Ant

Foot Falls Foot Falls Foot Falls
It is crushed
Life is flushed
Death blushes
He is mush
wait wait wait
who gave you that idea!!!
Ain't given up yet
He said NO!!!
I can do much more
Than you gave me credit for
I haven't closed that door!!!

And he lifts up
And I push down
The great battle
Life and Death
In small scale
On the largest playing field
Going farther
For Longer
Lone boy under the Foot Falls
The Foot Falls

Under the weight
Over the Mind
Reached the Line
Overtime
And space
There are no limitations
At least not now
Were there any?
At first?
If not,
Then why were limits set?
Why paths made?
Why borders created?
Why the Foot Falls?

It doesn't make sense
If there is no fense
The lone boy tenses
And percieves the line
And feels its pressure
Nothing holds him back
The Foot doesn't fall
Not anymore
The ant lives
And it Persists
