This man has a deep and troubling history surrounding his family, which is what I consider most when I think about his role in the story.

I'm greatly curious as to what his fighting style consists of, though. Is he multi-styled like Kenichi or some furious talent like Berserker? Or a combination thereof?

i figure it's i went about beating the hell out of people for years until i got really lonely then i met yuor grandmother kinda thing. what i want to know is was he always katsujin ken or was it this change in him that made him follow it and did the fight on yami predate this or not.
it also be nice to know mikumo's story since it might be like elders but in reverse and he might have a part to play in it.

He doesn't seem to have any shame or regret about his past, so I think he probably was always just a katsujin-ken martial artist who just loved fighting. I kind of wonder why Mikumo chose to switch to Yami, because they both fought against it together when they were younger.

As for his martial arts, it seems to be for the most part a self-developed one, probably after learning and mastering several others he merged parts of them and created the Fuurinji style.

i dunno he seems like the kind to put the past behind them if he felt it was only holding him back. plus for all we know he could have been killing guys as bad as he was at the time and so feels it mightnt have all that bad.

plus we still dont know where he goes off to the south was it? could be a place he repents for past sins.

It's possible I suppose, just a feeling of mine I guess that makes me think he never resorted to killing when he was younger. But who knows what kind of twists and turns await us in the future of HSDK.

well i mean his son killed his wife and joined his enemies and became their leader abandoning or beforced to give up on his own daughter and the elder didnt give away much there. plus i dont think we ever really get much of an insight to his thoughts unless it's when hes thinking about kenichi.

Was the west it seems, and it might be nothing more than to travel.

And I have my doubts that that one drawing was meant to be taken as the Elder is evil. It was probably done more as to look intimidating, since its the elder and he has never taken a disciple before and such, and even Akisame was scared on what he might do.

Lol, I guess I took the comment too seriously, sorry. :P

Do you think there will be more development between Hayato and Mikumo in the near future? I think there is a chance the Elder will eventually sway her to return to the side of katsujin ken.

Lol, made me chuckle a bit.

But that's why I said I think there is a chance the Elder will, he obviously has history with her that will probably be explored. Would be nice for the Elder have more involvement in the story than just power leveling Kenichi in his time of need. And I doubt Kenichi will really convert any of the Yami masters, aside from possibly Sougetsu and that other Chinese Kempo user who was Raiichi's father. Kenichi and Kensei make a good master converting team it seems.

Edit: Lol, it's like we have taken over the newly formed HSDK sub forum. :P

well elder is wise and all knowing all powerful and all totally frickin crazy, well first we need to find out the why then maybe a change can be affected but that requires a reason for mikumo to come back into the picture first.....

plus they better all just be asleep i aint carrying this around all day and night every day.

Well yeah, I didn't mean right away, just whenever the Kushinada family comes back into the picture.

And indeed, we can only post so much with just the two of us.

Haha, indeed. Well anyway I am done for the night.

And to have this post have some relevance. When Kenichi trained with the elder again he was doing that 0.0002% thing wasn't he? So just how strong is the Elder if he can split tree's with that little of his power. Or was that just some name thrown at the training method that just implies that he is holding back a quite alot. And if it is literal, just how much stronger does Kenichi have to grow to be able to even scratch the elder. D:

I don't get it... Hayato taught one of his secret 108 techniques to Ogata, but eventually he saw the evil within Ogata and kicked him out. I'm wondering, what did Ogata do to warrant such a privilege? Or is it just that Ogata failed the Advanced Disciple phase?

Also, the first time Hayato suggested that he train Kenichi, Akisame was surprised and mentioned that the Elder was famous for never taking disciples. Is this a continuity error if we count Ogata as one of them?

maybe it was precisely because Hayato got his fingers burnt with Ogata, so to speak, that he never took any more disciples. but that's a pretty short time frame.

perhaps Akisame still meant it in the sense that Ogata was a really rare exception, and that in general Hayato still didn't take disciples.

I imagine something like this happened: Ogata showed a lot of promise, and concealed his tendencies at first, and because it's the done thing Hayato doesn't really hold back in his teaching, passing on one of his techniques. Eventually Ogata's murderous nature shows through, and Hayato ditches him.

he thought him one technique that isnt really taking him as a disciple he also thought tanaka's master the same thing so it basically if you warrant the attention hell teach you a move out of the 108 suitable to your art to help you.
As a disciple of ryo he was probably there long enough plus its stated the elder saw through him straight off so maybe he was teaching him the technique while really trying to teach him to follow katsujinken rather than his under lying motivations and nature and it went *** ways.

As for ken it was kinda the same, he taught ken when he reached the point of choosing sei or dou which could have been disastrous but also he continually teaches ken but mostly not in techniques but in giving out wisdom and experience. Also the ryusui seikuken was later noted as a move hes never taught anyone before.

krachek
02-26-2010, 12:46 PM
Even if that's the case, I still don't understand why he would teach a technique capable of breaking any defense to someone he's trying to sway from the satsujinken. That's pretty much like adding fuel to the fire.

my guess is that hayato was an original member of yami
that much bad *** fighting ability doesnt come without a body count and it would also help explain why mius mother was murdered and why he founded ryouzanpaku

krachek
02-28-2010, 01:05 AM
That's a possibility. It could also explain how his son was influenced to become a member of Yami. Now that we're on this, I remember Hayato explaining to Tanimoto that there is nothing at the end of the road fighting by yourself, and that he (Hayato) has experienced it personally.

Remember also that story Hayato told Kenichi?

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/history_s_strongest_disciple_kenichi/c014/18.html

It seems that Hayato used to be a bully when he was young, which can be clearly seen from the lower right panel.

(Well, I know there's no actual proof that he was talking about himself, but ...)

I love Elder, he's in my top 3 overall fav characters of this series-- but ranked 1st in top favorite masters. He's so ridiculus its hilarious.

Something I've been wondering for a while is who would win in a fight between Hayato and his son. We obviously know absolutely nothing about One Shadow, but anybody care to speculate?

The way Yami is doing their things, which are pretty serious and terrorizing. I dare to say that the One Shadow is confident in his ability to take on his dad in case an all out war breaks out between them and Ryozanpaku. He's probably in his prime while the elder is getting old.. shouldnt the offspring usually be better than its parents?

This is random but I found that the elder had an "extremely difficult" match while he travelled to the South. He got injuries all over his body..probably done by a weapon user. I mean even Apachai or other super grandmasters cant even touch his body let alone inflicting damage on him. Anyone cares to take a guess?:D

shaggys master?
obviously not yami or they would have shown it and other than james (obviously not in any condition to do that to elder) i dont think theyve mentioned any other masters
but since it was so long ago i think the authors just gonna let that incident fade into obscurity
