thats what i was thinking/hoping...cuz i want them to get stronger!
maybe they'll get new powers after that....

I think it depends on the girl as well. She needs to be able to control them and grow in magic storage.
But...her stellar spirits are pretty gay looking and their supposed to be rare and powerful...she must be really weak or the stellar magic is useless.

I'm sure there are some uses for it.:D

Seriously though, I don't think that stellar spirits are bad, its just that they are not one of the more fast paced magic like Natsu's Dragon Slayer or Erza's armor/weapon. It is just a different style of magic. I guess using stellar magic is more tactics based. Lucy has to choose the right spirit for the situation. Natsu's is more based more on sheer strength and power.

I think the chapter was cool. So Sagitarus(or how he is called) was still good for somethign and natsu made a One-Hit K.O.. really cool attack of natsu :D and the phantom guild is also down! :D

Love this manga and the fight lenghts, they vary but are nicely paced. Erza vs Aria fight was awesome, but i'd really like to see Natsu vs Jose (Hidden dragon powers and all that http://www.onemanga.com/Fairy_Tail/59/17/ ).

Anyone else concerned that Lucy always gets kidnapped or drops her keys very often?

for her sake i hope their are diamond keys or whatever. The gold ones don't seem to be pretty powerful. Then again she might not be strong enough. She doesn't seem to train, or advance. Maybe after this arc she'll descide that she wants to be able to take care of herself and start dedicating herself to her magic. Maybe. Don't really see it happening. I mean Ellie never really advanced eighter.

From the fact that Lucy had been using Stealer Spirit, I don't think they are that useful though. I mean I would at least learn something else too for back up or emergencies! Just like Geyter said, neither Elie or Lucy had advance in there use of magic anyway. Useless all the way, lol.

hahah... it really is just a prop i think lolz... but i think the mangaka would definitely make something up to make her stellar spirits stronger... just like nami and usopp in one piece... basically they were the weakest in the crew (even if they still are anyways...) but eventually they could fight on par now with some of their enemies...

I just started reading Fairy Tail not too long ago, and so far I like all the characters ^_^. My most favorite characters so far Gray, Natsu, and Lucy. I cant wait for Lucy to get Scorpio if she ever does.

I like it more if this serie doesn't consist of people using wands or staff, or it wouldn't be unique (in some ways). If there're then it would be like taking ideas from negima or harry potter (or whatever I'm not even sure). Basically I want it to be unique like this!!

In many ways Lucy is weak. I can't even think of a single way that she could improve. Using stealer spirit is to call someone (or something) out to battle for her! Even if she wants improve she just can't (does she even bother to have at least a word with her spirits?).

I had forgotten about lucy's whip but she just doesn't use it enough. She is one of the weakest but as for improvement she could be stronger, i mean check out the aquarius spirits power if used correctly (and if they gave her any respect) she could be an asset.

yes that is correct, but lucy cant control her steller spirits well, she must hope that they will do what she wants that they do so, she should train a little bit and maybe learn also another magic (if you can control 2 types of magic, I'm not really sure)

Although Marakov arriving at the last moment was cliche, there was something about that felt very fresh about it. I usually don't like flashbacks during fights, but I'm interested in seeing Marakov's and Jose's history together. That is if they have any.

Hey there people. Great to see an active discussion on Fairy Tail :)

My thoughts on the latest chapter:

1) Mist Gun - I bet he is a she :P The mangaka has obscured his features to such an extent that I am beginning to get suspicious of his (her?) sex. Not to mention that he has thin arms. :D

2) Makarov v Jose - I bet Jose will come up with some uber shield / counter spell. The combination of his spell v Makarov's Fairy Law will force the Mage's Council to step in to stop the fight :p

and also i finally know why they call him a giant i mean really we in the manga always saw him so small and they all called him Makarov the Giant or something and btw is it just me or the Characters a REALLY LIKE Rave Master characters i mean come on our lizard boy looks like Haru and our little Key Spirit Mage looks like Elie + she summoned Plue with the name Plue and they share the same act of comedy o.O sorry for the long sentence but ... i just felt like it xD

the one who made this is the same person who made rave master so of course the same character style can be used.

also marakov didnt lose the first time due to his illness, he lost because aria( one of the element 4) took his magic from his body. also his rage helped him lose too.

also in the early chapters we see marakov use his giant magic, so if you didnt read the early chapters you would know that we seen him use his giant magic already

no they said it hurts him worse. it basically destroys all the magic in the targets body and the more it destroys the more it hurts.

Wow... Mist Gun took out all of Phantom's subdivisions. Wow, how did Fairy Tail obtain such a mage? He's sort of insubordinate, but he ends up helping in an extra out-of-the-spotlight way. But that extra way is really huge too.

Still, how many mages in the world of the Fairy Tail serie can compare to Natsu, Grey, Erza, Mist Gun, etc.? I would say 'very rare to find one'. So they are pretty much superhuman anyway.

I keep trying to shake the feeling off, but I think Makarov didn't beat the loser this chapter. Both are Leaders of large guilds, and so losing so quickly would be unimaginable.

Yeah most of the fights have been pretty close... it's just a stroke of luck that often gives them an advantage or a comeback in the fight... take for example Natsu vs the iron dragonslayer guy (sorry bad at remembering weak people's names... j/k lol) if Sagittarius wasn't there Natsu would have lost already... haha laughed at Sagittarius' look btw lol a guy wearing a horse costume...

I think you got it all wrong about Erza barely winning against the blind-folded mage... he had already taken off his blind fold by then and take into consideration that Erza already had taken the brunt force of the Jupiter Cannon all by herself... and yet with just a single attack, she finished him off instantly...

true... there's still an uncertainty regarding this anyway... some fights start like this anyway... using a strong technique instantly yet the villain somewhat survives it... but judging from Makarov's seriousness in his countdown... i wouldn't be surprised if he actually pulled it off with this one attack...

That was the stupidest scene in this manga and I hope there wont come more of this. I mean they said how mighty aria is when he takes the bandana from his eyes and then the worn out erza defeated him with one strike... so stupid... :/

Lol yea, I re-read the blind-foldded guy's fight. It's true that his wacko power wasn't all that great lmfao. But, Erza was worn-out after, though, most of that is probably due to taking a blow from that cannon.

That fight does show that Erza is far superior than Natsu since Natsu seemed to have a lot of trouble against the Blind-fold dude.

Yeah it seemed like he had no physical power at all... really i thought the battle with him was gonna continue for a while with mirajane saying the stuff about defeating him before he opened his eyes... and then wham lol erza defeats him with one strike just like that... i was like "wth! all hype and no fun!"

the battle with aria is useless I'm happy it ended fast with just one swing and besides the battle of 2 dragon slayer is worth reading than just reading erza and the fatsoo but the best battle is still to occur. The fairy claw is awesome and makarov is scary but jose is arrogant underestimating makarov .what could happen to him? to jose? is he badly wounded ? or unharm?

The battle was too quick for me. I thought it would last at least a couple of chapters. But I'm still impressed by the ending. Its a good way to end the arc. Hoping that the next arc will have to do with the whole dragon 777 mystery.

although the battle was quick... it was probably meant to show how much stronger and more experienced makarov is than jose...

about the dragon 777 story... probably it'll be a total of 7 dragons... and 7 dragonslayers too lol... maybe the council had something to do with it... or at least that guy erza said was evil...

Makarov the rubberman!!! LOL... somehow i really can't help but feel that Fairy Tale is somewhat really influenced by One Piece... even the characters look similar... stupid aria feeling he could get Makarov again with the same trick... and even after knowing how his guildmaster just got owned...

it seemed that only the S-class mages know of Makarov's Fairy Law(the other's looked surprised)...

nice dramatic end to this chapter with the talk about being a guild... and a good comedic comeback by Makarov hahah crying like lucy LOL... all in all this chapter was really good...

Maybe they think "Fairy Tail" is a typo? At first, I refused to read this Manga since "Fairy Tale" sounds really lame. I'm not a fan of Fairytales. XD
Then I noticed "Huh, why does it say "Tail" and not "Tale"?" and read a plot summary. Ironically I saw a group picture of the Fairy Tail crew quite some time ago but couldn't find the Manga it was from. Suddenly, it was there. XD

Lol I agree with both of you. At first, when I saw "Fairy Tail" at the OneManga Most Popular Section, I was like.. "eh.. sounds lame". Later on that week, I stumbled on this guy that had a banner that looked a lot like Luffy and Nami (Natsu and Lucy in reality), and the guy told me it was Fairy Tail. That's how I stumbled on the Fairy Tail series =]

for me... i read Fairy Tail because i saw it was in the top ten read here at onemanga... at first i didn't want to look at the manga because of its title... thinking that the title sounded lame... then out of boredom waiting for the other mangas that i follow to come out with the next chapters... i clicked on Fairy Tail's link to see why it was one of the top ten... and read the plot summary... although i thought the summary seemed cheesy... mages story and all... despite that i still read it because of the picture of the Fairy Tail crew which really looked similar to the One Piece characters... and now i'm hooked to it lol...

So what did we learn? Never judge a Manga by its name.

although i'm wondering why Fairy Tail's art is similar to One Piece's... i don't compare it to One Piece in terms of plot... it definitely deserves its spot in the top ten =)

I keep seeing similarities between Fairytail and OnePiece more than with Rave and yes i know OnePiece and Fairytail are totally different authors.
The drawings are the same and so are the characters...only fairytail seems like its incorparated the better things into the characters.
Salamander has the same personality as Luffy but he uses Fire...I remember thinking in Onepiece Ace's skill was the coolest and wanted Luffy to have it.
Well thats just my opinion.

But i agree this manga deserves its spot in the Top 10. =D

I read this manga since the first chapter was released cuz I love Rave and when I learn Mashima was going to write a new story, I jumped onto it. But at the beginning, I was quinda disappointed because the characters are exactly the same as Rave (when you put the last volumes of Rave near the first of Fairy Tail, you think it's the same story). And for the similarities with One Piece, since Rave, Mashima said he like a lot One Piece, that's why he draw in a way like Oda

I just finished FT. I cant believe I didnt read it for so long. Good that the big arc ended at the final chapter. Fairy Law was amazing, Jose just blew out. And that Natsu vs Gazille was overwhelming. I wonder what is coming next, a new arc I mean.
Lucy is just useless as of now. She did nothing except crying and all.

yeah i agree with methaniel... however Lucy probably won't stay a useless girl... if Hiro really adores One Piece he'll probably do the same with Lucy the same way Oda did with Nami... now Nami was really useless in fights at the start... but look at her now... she's able to fight enemies deemed to be stronger than her and win... her Stellar Spirits may be useless now to some point plus they're so much more comedic relief than battle help... however there's probably gonna be a point that they'll change when Lucy gets stronger... from what Virgo said that the stellar spirits change form according to the user it's probably the same for the strength of the spirits and the strength of the user... if Lucy gets stronger, they'll probably get stronger too...

Talking about Lucy and the spirits, I had expected the zodiac key sagittarius to be somewhat powerful but only thing he did was shoot an arrow at the machines. Though it turned out to be useful but still he is nothing more than ordinary >.>

Heh, ghassassin, I totally agree. When I read Bleach, I wished Rukia was piss strong when she got her powers back. When I read Naruto, I wanted Hinata to kick some ***. When I read Fairy Tail, I wanted Lucy to raise hell. Unfortunately, there seems to be a framework for action animes that supports the girl characters roll of the damsel in distress.

We arent talking about the core characters. 'Damsel in distress' refers to the main character, the female lead character which is not Erza but Lucy. And that reminds me of Jubia of the elemental 4. Was she really a S-class mage?? I mean, she didnt even put up a decent fight against Gray. On the other hand, FT's S class team has hell of mysterious and strong looking mages. MistGun took whole of the Phantom sub-territory by himself. Luxus and Erza are too damn powerful......Phantom's S-class was extrememly weak.

Well, the reason she didn't put up a decent fight against Gray was because she fell head over heels in love with him, if it didn't happen like that Gray would have had a hard time... and as you can now see in the new chapter she even stayed behind for him lol... it would be nice if she joined fairy tail, she looks like a good character ^^... it would add to the hilarity of fairy tail lol... i don't think Phantom's S-class is that extremely weak... FT's S-class is just extremely strong ^^...

i don't think fairy tail's gonna focus on always having Lucy in trouble though... Hiro "idolizes" One Piece now so i think he'll probably go with the same things... look at One Piece even though the characters get stronger and stronger, the stories never get boring... even without the damsel in distress plot... Nami may not be on par with Luffy and the others but she manages well on her own plus she's now a big help to the crew unlike back then all she was doing was run and hide...
