The Present: 10:15 am, Morning time, Xavier Mansion Garage
Several weeks have passed since the Brotherhood's attack on the Mansion and the X-men were still licking their wounds. Undoubtedly, so was the Brotherhood. That had been a truly intense encounter, and one that would not be soon forgotten. Many things seemed to have changed that day. For one, the Xavier estate had suffered a good deal of damage during that conflict, and repairs were still being made to the property grounds and the Mansion in general. Thanks to Professor N'dare, a more discriminating security system was now installed, just in case the Brotherhood repeated the mass teleportation tactic they had used. Those who'd suffered minor injuries were already recovered, but many of the seriously injured were still recovering. Thanks to N'dare and the mutant known as Solar, those numbers were now few.
On the upside, an ironic thing happened. There seemed to be a migration of mutants that made their way to the Mansion. They all had different reasons why they came, but over the weeks, they just kept coming. Perhaps it was fear of the encroaching Mutant Registration Act, or maybe a sense of destiny...or adventure. Whatever the reason, they were now here and they needed training and a place to call home.
John let out a long and deeply felt exhale as he ran his hand through his blond hair. He then closed his blue eyes, folded his arms and leaned back on the soft black leather upholstered seat inside his fire engine red McLaren F1. He had originally planned to go on a joyride, just to get his mind off things, but that was a near impossible task. There was so much to do, now that Erik was in a coma.
That which they all silently feared had come to pass...yet again. When a powerful or untrained mutant had a freak accident, it almost always had major repercussions. John shook his head slightly not wanting to think how bad things could have really gone. Right now he was really greatful to Sage, who was holding a General Assembly in the Big Lawn. Even those students who were helping to repair the Mansion were called to participate. Thankfully, she had N'dare, Adara , Night Young and the rest of the faculty members to assist her with well over two dozen mutants.
John smiled, albeit wrily. It was good to see so many young mutants assembled in one place, but that also meant they had to be protected from those who meant them harm....and especially from the Brotherhood. But how did you protect them from a bigger threat?
The very thought that haunted John Storm II manifested itself yet again, and so did the memories from which they were born. He wanted to pinch himself and wake up, for he was almost convinced that he was dreaming, but alas, he knew that he was not. Once again, the conversation he had with Roxanne so many weeks ago played itself within his mind.

The Present: 10:15 am, Morning time, Xavier Mansion's Big Lawn
The once well manicured Big Lawn was almost groomed to it's old glory. Most of the apparent damage had been repaired, though there were places here and there that still required attention, especially in the garden areas. Nevertheless, the flowers and green grass exuded an aromatic fragrance that was all together pleasing, but it was doubtful that many of those present even noticed. Several rows of comfortable white chairs were still empty as they waited for the new students to fill them. But few opted to sit just yet.
Considering that the many gathered mutants were outdoors, it was interesting to note that the sound of their vivid chatter filled the air with their multiple conversations. Nearby, the Raven haired beauty known as Sage stood by the podium, but not on it. Quite agreeably, she nodded in greeting at faces that had become more and more familiar in the past few weeks. It was astounding to see so many young mutants at the Mansion in such a short period of time. Erik would have been proud, could he be here to see this.
Many of the other faculty members mingled and made introductions as they readied the gathered for the assembly. There were still a few students missing, but they had ample time to arrive since they did have about forty five minutes before the assembly began. More than enough time.
Sage smiled to herself as she noticed certain groupings and clusters of young mutants. These 'divisions' were only natural, and such was the reason for the assembly. The sooner everyone got comfortable around each other and used to each others particularities, the sooner they could become a cohesive unit, which was the desired objective.
So, Sage patiently waited and watched. With the help of the other faculty members, she was confident that today's agenda could be accomplished, hopefully without any interruptions. Incidentally, he nodded at Nagawho had beat back a potentially deadly onslaught up the Brotherhood.
Everyone felt better because of it. Except maybe for John. He was having trouble dealing with the Professor's current condition as well as other issues. Sage suspected it had to do with the man's past, but she knew John would open up about it eventually, so she had no worries.
But for now, there was an assembly to she had to help run.
