As for me, English obviously. But my native tongue is Urdu. I speak it at about a first-grade level. TT_TT

I took four years of Spanish in high school and forgot it all.

I'd like to take Japanese one day. If nothing else, it would save me a lot of money.

Taiwanese is my native language, but it's at a intermediate level. Same with Mandarin, but my sentence arrangements are strange, and my vocabulary is limited. I'd like to take a Chinese class in high school, rather than go to a Chinese school.

I'd like to learn how to speak Italian though, it's a beautiful language~

Let's see.

I could speak English, School level French, and Telugu (my native tongue)

And before anyone asks what Telugu is, it is one of the Dravidian languages and is primarily spoken in southern India. And just a little factoid, Telugu is the 13th most spoken language in the world with 86 million speakers, more than Korean, French, or Italian...:D

And oh yeah, I would like to learn Japanese, Hindi, Mandarin and Spanish...

rachel42
08-24-2007, 02:41 AM
what do the signals for abortion and hooker look like? haha

Useless
08-24-2007, 02:43 AM
well for hooker....u put your dominant hand against your cheek on the same side(right hand on right cheek)....but backwards....so the fingers are pointing behind your head and your palm is facing away from u....then just sweep it in front of you!
if that makes sense....i dont know how to describe abortion....but for sex!
.....put your index fingers knuckle on your cheek bone then your jaw bone!

In high school I learned german, but apart from word like "Krankenhaus" (Hospital) and terms like "Ich Bin" ("I am" in german, but it means "Eat a bin (Trashcan)" in gaidhlig), its all just melting away through disinternest.

english a little, little spanish ( kinda sucks cuz i go to a school that the majority of students speak spanish. and my grandparents speak broken english. people can insult me i spanish and i wont even understand me.my ex-boyfriend did that to me all the time.) it is weird for me cuz my grandparents will start off speaking engligh, trial off to spanish and right back to english. and i took spanish in the 1st, 7th, 8th and am currently taking spanish 2. still can't hold up a good conversation. my life SUCKS!!!

Native in Finnish, fluent in English, passable Swedish (my grammar sucks) and have forgotten most of basic Spanish (though I think I could still do touristy necessities with it), have forgotten almost all of the basic Russian I took in school ages ago. Can puzzle out written Danish and Norwegian and some Estonian. Learning Finnish Sign language but haven't gotten far with it yet. Some random phrases in other European languages.

What's Urdu? You're quite good (but is it usefull to speak Latin?...). If you can speak in all these languages, I respect you (I'll never be able to learn so much)

Urdu is the language that ppl in India and Pakistan and that southeastern part of Asia speak... i learned it because my grandma speaks it so i guess it was forced on me. All the other languages I learned at school and some other places.

I learned Latin generally to help me when I go to MeD school and for the SAT....

I speak English fluently, at a college level; it's also my native tongue. I'm learning Japanese, as well. I know hiragana, katakana, and about 50 kanji at the moment, and will be learning more for the rest of my highschool years. It's good to be a freshman; I have a long time to learn! We haven't learned too much grammar, so I can say pretty basic things--I'm probably at about a first grade level in Japanese, but that's not too bad for learning it for 7 months. I'll be taking Spanish next year, but I can already read/speak some because of my family background. I want to take European languages in addition to more studying in Japanese and Spanish in college.
