Thread three.

Continue about Echizen not losing.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 01:29 PM
I'm actually fine with him not losing, but the fact that he can pwn'd even the best players in the tournament seems a little bit extraggated. Atobe, Sanada, Yukimura are supposed on higher level, for them to lose to Ryoma seems kinda off....

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 01:30 PM
Well, I mean, he only ever loses to Tezuka and Nanjiro. It makes everything... predictable.

It just annoys me...

Well, I guess if he always lost, it would annoy me as well.

Alright, Fuji's dragonfly illusion.

I don't understand it, isn't it just hitting a flat ball...

Definitely doesn't work. Illusion? I don't think so...

I really, have no explanation for that.

It would kill your wrist, that's for sure.

We're just giving people a reality check.

Well, as long as it doesn't bounce off the racket first, I guess.

Eh...

So unrealistic...

Alright, Momo's Super Dunk.

I have no words for it.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 01:37 PM
Yes, he'll never lost in official tournament, and probably never be again.

diopatra
10-27-2007, 01:40 PM
how will ryoma's memory return? what really happen to him. this will be interesting to see.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 01:45 PM
It nullifys ball with spin, or so the discription say, then returning it straightly flat, creating supposely illusion left that the ball actually further than it takes to reach it.

Leehar
10-27-2007, 01:48 PM
Fuji' gonna crush Rikkai now

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 01:54 PM
That's how at least the manga explained but National Tournaments techniques are all farfetched already anyway, there's no point in explaining it even further....

If you'd like though, how about Fuji's Gatekeeper of Hecatonchieres?

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 02:01 PM
Like..., Fuji even spinning the ball to the racket hilt and then push it back by using the opposite (back) strings of the racket.
I'm not expert for some detail rules, but I think not hitting the ball directly (or let it stay in the racket for a short time) is rather not allowed, isn't it?

diopatra
10-27-2007, 02:05 PM
guys, lets remember that mangas are not all base on real settings, so i dont think arguing on it will do us any good

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 02:14 PM
So...., any clarification on how long the ball is allowed to stay in one's racket before hitting it?

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 03:28 PM
Hm..., seems that referee doesn't really mind anyway, so it's ok.

Now speaking about the referee in PoT, it's actually amazing that they can actually see Oishi/Fuji/O****ari ball landed exactly at the back line, but cannot tell the differences between Ryoma and Horio XD.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 03:35 PM
Well, firstly, can you even jump as high as him?, not to mention he seems to get every timing of the ball perfectly to smash, then make the ball stand firm on the strings before hitting it.

And after hitting it, it's either;
a) the ball so damn fast that opponent couldn't see a thing.
b) the racket will be blown away just like that.
c) th ball so strong that it'll actually go through the racket strings, so there's no point in hitting it.

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 03:35 PM
I mean, it STICKS to the ground before bouncing... wtf.

-.-

Ugh... It just doesn't work. Unless the ground is like some sort of trampoline.

There's also, near the beginning, when Echizen got the crappy racket. I don't understand how that's possible at all...

No, probably not.

The amount of spin needed for that is tremendous, and cannot be generated by a human arm, let alone, a middle schooler's.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 03:38 PM
Apperently, Momo smash seems to be as strong as the godzilla foot that it'll stick in the ground first before the actual bouncing.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 03:46 PM
Well..., we all know that..., the anime version have more extraggated moves than the manga are.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 04:05 PM
That's because his opponent is a real nutcase...., no point of discussing that guy that couldn't even beat Echizen with broken racket.

Well, how about Kaidoh's Boomerang Snake?, like it's possible for the ball to spin around even the net pole?

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:08 PM
well, smashes are the most difficult shots to return, but fuji can return them facing backwards with higuma, oh well i mean it's already hard enough seeing it upfront. btw, just an info. the fastest serve according to guinness is 247 kph made by andy roddick.

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:08 PM
Um, Higuma Otoshi is a LOB.

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:10 PM
of course it is, that's why the ball flies upwards, but what i mean is that he's facing backwards when doing the move.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 04:11 PM
Fuji actually doesn't return them facing backwards, but from the front while spinning his body and the ball together backwards, then proceed to throw the ball up high.

It's just cooler to draw the backwards side straight up when he perform it I suppose.

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:12 PM
Well, yeah, takes quite a bit of training. If you're a prodigy, you might be able to.

Hard, hard...

And he's spinning

Woops, I'm late.

Alright, then... Chibi episodes of the anime are hilarious XD.

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:15 PM
okay, but as i have seen in the anime (pot ova ep 14 fuji vs shiraishi) he's actually facing backwards, awaiting for the ball, then his racket got blown away. anyways enough with that and move on...

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 04:16 PM
Uh...., even If it is possible, I don't think anyone in real life will even use this move.

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:16 PM
Alright, then...

Jack Knife.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 04:20 PM
Uh..., anime is always stay unconsistent with the manga about moves/shots like the Kikumaru case I discussed with gr1mm earlier today.
I can't remember which chapter exactly again, but in the manga when Fuji face Echizen in practice match (the first time he used Higuma Otoshi), it did show that he moved from front to backwards, not directly taking it from backwards.

Jack Knife, well it's very possible to do I guess, but not Momo version which will (again) blown opponents racket away.

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:20 PM
oh, jacknife is possible. i saw many players do that, especially players that do double backhands (they don't blow off rackets, of course) oh and another shot that's possible is of course the rising shot

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:21 PM
Yeah, a more realistic one...

Ok, there's... that Illusion shot by the American kid.

wildstriker
10-27-2007, 04:23 PM
Sorry..., didn't watch the Jpn vs. US team fillers entirely..., how are the shot performed again?

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:24 PM
well if they can do those shots they also qualify without question as baseball players since hitting a tennis ball with the racket frame is like hitting a baseball with a bat. anyways the illusion shot of kevin smith is pretty much similar (or exactly the same) as tachibana's wild ball.

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:24 PM
But, in real life, the ball doesn't really vibrate like that...

kakashi1300
10-27-2007, 04:27 PM
no it can't, and it's impossible for it to not bounce. i think if you hit the ball like that the ball will just go faster than usual, but again it's really...hard

gr1mmy
10-27-2007, 04:28 PM
Well, with the way he hits it, an over shoulder, forehand, with two hands, it'll be easy to aim it, with enough practice.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:54 AM
But did he really practice that b/f the match?, isn't he just somehow like Ryoma, develop it in the middle of the match somehow and perfected it?

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 02:39 AM
No, there was a flashback, he practiced it a lot.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 02:52 AM
Oh...., hm, guess I'll have to find some streaming video about it soon...., Ryoma vs. Kevin...

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 02:57 AM
He first figured it out when he was falling, like Kaidou and his boomerang snake.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 03:00 AM
Except that Inui also helping Kaidoh in it, along with increasing his endurance. ;)

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 03:07 AM
I suppose.

Falling seems to be a great way to learn great tennis moves.

*starts diving at the ground with a tennis racket*

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 03:25 AM
Er...., don't forget to count the injury in too If you're really planning to do that. :D

Well, I have watch ep 158 - 160 using fast forward from youtube..., it seems that Illusion shot, is as Kakashi said, similiar to Tachibana "Abare Dama" (lit; Wild Ball) shot.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 03:28 AM
Except that it doesn't bounce... I think.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 03:45 AM
Yes, but Tachibana doesn't particulary aiming for score, it's meant to even injure the opponent, as opposed to Kevin, a pure illusion. Tachibana's more like..., explosion, even causing Chitose right eye to go blind (which is why he moved to Fudomine)....

Oh, BTW, the National OVA 16 & 17 are out today, featuring the semi-final Double 2 and Single 2 matches

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 04:15 AM
Oh, that's good.

I'll go watch that tomorrow.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 04:24 AM
You can watch the raw in youtube now If you want, watch how Kawamura fly off to the spectators bench... :D

diopatra
10-28-2007, 10:06 AM
really the ova is out already?

i definitely going to watch it

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 11:43 AM
Yes, really...., just check on youtube or something to find the raw.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 12:50 PM
Kawamura... flying...

WTF, and a tennis ball did that.

There's just not enough mass!

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:11 PM
Well gr1mm...., time to accept that Hadokyuu isn't really done-able in real life at all :D, or at least not a Hadokyuu at Gin's level.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:13 PM
Yarp...

Alright, so remember the guy who could spin around in mid-air?

I think from St. Rudolph.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:20 PM
Yes, as avid PoT fans, I remember every players name since I also play the game on DS (Crystal Drive) everyday.

Atsushi Kisarazu, and then Kabaji also copied that move (well, Kabaji can copy anything I guess, even Tezuka's Hyakuren), they spin in the mid-air to trick oppenent thinking they will do a smash, but actually drop shot, what about it?

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:21 PM
You can't just start spinning in midair...

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:29 PM
Well, you can't actually have doppleganger too, but in PoT-verse wise challenged that....

Anyway, the possible explanation is, maybe he's intended to make that shot since the beginning so actually have prepared to just play some fake and falling to do the drop shot.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:32 PM
Well, then his legs would've had to be bent first.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:38 PM
I don't think he's actually bending his leg though, only like..., half of the body..., can't remember which chapter is he playing again to check.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:39 PM
Well, Newton's third law...

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:43 PM
Is it even exist in the first place? (will not bother googling for Newton :D )

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:44 PM
Um...

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:47 PM
:strach head:

So...., how is that theory linked with spinning one's body in the mid-air....? (it's been 2 years since I finished high school, literally physics theories have dissapeared from my great mind :D )

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:47 PM
Because you can't do that unless you swing something in the opposite direction.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:51 PM
Well, how about a super flexible body + the floating jump element in PoT?, it defies even gravity....

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 01:52 PM
Well, PoT verse has it's own physics I guess.

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 01:59 PM
. Are the Gin vs. Kawamura match not convincing enough for you....?
I mean, If I can make someone fly off like about 10 meters using only tennis ball, I'll surely learn it.

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 02:32 PM
I know, PoT has its own physics

wildstriker
10-28-2007, 02:39 PM
Well, maybe data tennis can be performed actually, If you actually diligent (and dare) enough to observe every players available and taking notes down about their...., personal data (to the point of stalking :D ).

Leehar
10-28-2007, 05:41 PM
Fuji's tennis is really amazing

gr1mmy
10-28-2007, 07:42 PM
@wild

You'll need to be able to do calculations at high speed.

animechick2424
10-29-2007, 01:29 AM
Fuji's tennis is really amazing

Yea i have to agree with that. He just keeps coming up with new moves :D

wildstriker
10-29-2007, 01:34 AM
He's genius after all...., last chapter even showed that he can even play with his eyes closed.

Wonder how's the Hoshi Hanabi though...., a counter that's even better than Gatekeeper of Hecatonchieres seems really dangerous since Gatekeeper of Hecatonchieres itself already cheap enough.

gr1mmy
10-29-2007, 02:23 AM
It'll be an instant win shot?

wildstriker
10-29-2007, 02:50 AM
who know..., he already proclaimed the 6th counter, but will be executed on next chapter, might be a ball that can magically go through opponent racket strings perhaps? :D

Mibu Kyoshiro
10-29-2007, 03:47 AM
thinking the name may be helpful. Hanabi is firework so it may move so far than there are 3-5 balls appear than without bouncing gathering at one point then ....?

kakashi1300
10-29-2007, 09:08 AM
well then we'll see about that. and about fuji's counters i think there will be no more final counter, because fuji is slowly building up an arsenal of counters for every specific players (or shots).

shichitenshi
10-29-2007, 09:18 AM
hmmm.. at last.. i was able to read all the post in this thread.. anywayz... hmmm.. i still believe i can do the zero shiki drop shot in real tennis.. waheheheh.. i am trying to do it first in table tennis.. isnt it kakashi??

kakashi1300
10-29-2007, 09:20 AM
nope impossible, for it to become a zero-shiki the ball must not bounce. what you mean is perhaps the hakugei?

shichitenshi
10-29-2007, 09:21 AM
hahaha... ok fine.. but somehow they are the same... it bounces to the oposite side..

kakashi1300
10-29-2007, 09:28 AM
Well, maybe data tennis can be performed actually, If you actually diligent (and dare) enough to observe every players available and taking notes down about their...., personal data (to the point of stalking :D ).

i don't believe in data tennis, too. because yeah collecting data might be really possible compared to others (no laws of physics violated) but what don't exist are the "data" themselves. even if we say most players have patterns in their attacks surely each shot can't be predicted by probabilities. inui can collect data during the game. a very, very short time to collect data.

wildstriker
10-29-2007, 11:15 AM
I think it's because it's not exactly based on each shot performed, but by some charateristic of play and when exactly they will perform the shot that will easily predictable.

gr1mmy
10-29-2007, 07:52 PM
Probably type of shot... Who knows.

wildstriker
10-30-2007, 01:28 AM
Data never lie after all. :D (or so Inui says)

gr1mmy
10-30-2007, 01:32 AM
It can lie.

Data can CHANGE. That's how he loses XD

wildstriker
10-30-2007, 01:59 AM
That's why he's even collecting the data in the middle of the match :D, Ryoma stated that though, even he have the data, he lacks the ability, power, speed, etc to keep up with the data.

gr1mmy
10-30-2007, 02:11 AM
That's why Inui trained like hell.

They should focus more on Inui.

wildstriker
10-30-2007, 02:37 AM
Sadly, his 2 last match is pitiful as hell...., forced to just step aside in double 1 ****enhouji match, and collapse due to fatigue in double 2 Rikkai match.

Mibu Kyoshiro
10-30-2007, 04:04 AM
Sadly, his 2 last match is pitiful as hell...., forced to just step aside in double 1 ****enhouji match, and collapse due to fatigue in double 2 Rikkai match.

that is very true. he should train more

wildstriker
10-30-2007, 04:42 AM
Even more sadly, PoT already coming to its end, so we won't really see him play again in future match, in the end all he got is just his pathetically "look how opponent play from his previous shots and we take chance form that" tennis.

shichitenshi
10-30-2007, 08:36 AM
hmmm... data tennis.. i would suggest that you should watch a real tennis match and see for yourselves if data tennis is possible.. haha.. good luck..

Mibu Kyoshiro
10-30-2007, 09:54 AM
hope there will be a SEQUEL

wildstriker
10-30-2007, 03:16 PM
hmmm... data tennis.. i would suggest that you should watch a real tennis match and see for yourselves if data tennis is possible.. haha.. good luck..

Wonder how I should collect their personal data though :eban:, especially someone like Sharapova.

gr1mmy
10-31-2007, 10:32 PM
Stalk them, duh.

*camera flash*

wildstriker
10-31-2007, 10:47 PM
I think except in the tennis match itself, I would be arrested for privacy invasion even If I just pointed the camera towards them.

gr1mmy
10-31-2007, 10:51 PM
That's why you go up onto a building 500 ft away, with a sniper scope attached to a camera XD

wildstriker
10-31-2007, 10:58 PM
That would be...., er..., considered as pervert instead XD.

gr1mmy
10-31-2007, 10:59 PM
Depends on where you're point that thing.

wildstriker
10-31-2007, 11:14 PM
Of course, being operation to gain perfect data, I'll have to check every parts available.....

gr1mmy
10-31-2007, 11:16 PM
-.-

Racket!!!

Most important thing!

wildstriker
10-31-2007, 11:56 PM
Nah, it got to be how they built the body for it.

Leehar
11-01-2007, 12:01 AM

Wonder how's the Hoshi Hanabi though...., a counter that's even better than Gatekeeper of Hecatonchieres seems really dangerous since Gatekeeper of Hecatonchieres itself already cheap enough.
We already knew he could play like that in the match against that other guy(forgotten his name:confused: )

What counter is he at now?
6 or 7?

wildstriker
11-01-2007, 12:10 AM
Yeah, against Kirihara, but that's not on purpose, it's because Kirihara forced him to do so.

6th, and final one (since PoT will end by this end of November soon).

Mibu Kyoshiro
11-01-2007, 07:48 AM
Yeah, against Kirihara, but that's not on purpose, it's because Kirihara forced him to do so.

6th, and final one (since PoT will end by this end of November soon).

Is it on purpose. I though he meant to hit his face but not to blind him

wildstriker
11-01-2007, 08:21 AM
No, Kirihara already know somehow hitting that spot will temporary blind him. Kirihara style of tennis after all, crush the opponent to win the match.

Seraphimaurion
11-02-2007, 12:54 AM
Well a lot of the shots are pretty much impossible, but all of Fuji's hits are impossible, and I don't if think you can actually hit a ball with your eyes closed(unless your extremely lucky) But still...
like Echizen's new cool drive or drive C(D Forgot XD) or Tezuka's zero shiki are totally impossible(and the aura/gates/other things are made up)

But about Tezuka's Zero shiki serve, even if you could volley, You would have to be really close to the net, then he could just use a regular serve to make him/her lose

gr1mmy
11-02-2007, 06:22 AM
Good point, I suppose.

In tennis, if your serve hits your opponent, it's an instant ace.

wildstriker
11-02-2007, 06:49 AM
That's Kirihara style tennis...., winning by injuring your opponent, but I guess that legible strategy too.

gr1mmy
11-02-2007, 02:42 PM
Didn't he change though?

wildstriker
11-02-2007, 08:02 PM
*sigh* here we go again If you haven't read my post on the last topic;

"Eyerything that happen afterwards in the anime after first Seigaku vs. Hyotei match are fillers and considered non-canon as for manga plot/storyline!, please don't take them into consideration and read the manga again from the Seigaku vs. Midoriyama match If you have only watch the anime!"

Kirihara never change his playstyle in the manga, in fact, he gained Muga no Kyochi by keeping that kind of playstyle and evolving even further.

gr1mmy
11-02-2007, 08:54 PM
Oh...

I should read the manga more often.

wildstriker
11-03-2007, 12:00 AM
Yeah, you should in some free time. :D

Chapter 364 is out, Fuji w/ his 6th counter finally won 7 - 5 against Nioh, proceeding to D1 match....

diopatra
11-03-2007, 02:26 AM
yes!! as expected fuji won. now its time for the golden pair to show off.

Mibu Kyoshiro
11-03-2007, 04:06 AM
it is strange I think. this that shot can be considsiter legal. the hoshi hanabi.

gr1mmy
11-03-2007, 07:01 AM
Legal, perhaps, but possible? No.

Leehar
11-03-2007, 09:55 AM
I still don't understand how Hanabi works...

kiri
11-03-2007, 09:56 AM
it goes up to the sky then falls down so fast kinda much like a volley with faster falling time I think

gr1mmy
11-03-2007, 10:02 AM
Like Oishi's moon volley sort of.

darkninja27
11-03-2007, 10:16 AM
Fuji firsts hits a cord ball and then I guess a cord is counted towards the opponents side and then the ball goes high into the sky and then it lands in the audience so its impossible to return unless ur right at the net. And DAMN Fuji kills all. As on my pact before....I think that Fuji is the best player on the team. He made a counter in the middle of a match. He's a genius(which everyone already knows)....but did Fuji really try in this match???

gr1mmy
11-03-2007, 10:22 AM
Wait. So it doesn't hit the ground?

wildstriker
11-03-2007, 11:25 AM
Well, If you must know, the counter itself is off screen, there's no really despicting how the ball is, only some cheap explanation of how it works.

gr1mmy
11-03-2007, 11:26 AM
a super sonic bounce?

darkninja27
11-03-2007, 03:42 PM
something like that, they might explain it in the nest chapter. And does anyone know if Ryoma recovered from his amnesia??

shonenshojo
11-03-2007, 05:12 PM
fuji won (knew it) the sixth counter is awesome i wonder if ryouma's memory will return in time!!!!

kakashi1300
11-03-2007, 09:55 PM

no, the ball must always drop to the opponent's court (or hit the opponent's racquet or the opponent's body) to be counted as in. what i think of the hanabi is that the ball will fly upwards after the cord ball, drop in the opponent's side out of reach of the opponent then due to the irregular spin flies into the audience stadium in supersonic speeds. there was no image of that so the counter is still very unclear.

edit: i had a partial grasp of the counter. it is similar to meteo drive used by niou in inui's dream. since the ball is launched very high in the sky, you cannot actually see where the ball is (due to the sun's brightness i guess) so you won't know where the ball will land. then the ball goes down at a crashing speed and due to the irregular spin it is sent outside to the audiences. so i guess this counter works in open air stadiums and the weather is sunny (not cloudy).

its a volley which will go to the opponent's court, but his volley is so fast that it is very hard to return it

Mibu Kyoshiro

it is similar to kamikazi that the saeki kanpatsu no kiwami guy in ****enhouji use. but it is a cord ball no it is harder to hit it back. the one counter that I can think to hit it back is impossible. one have to jump high enough to hit itwhile it is still rising to the air then hit it all the way the the baseline. but it is indeed impossible to hit it like that you need super precise timing then hit it with power strong enough to defeat kirin otoshi

kakashi1300
11-03-2007, 10:48 PM
well it is still not clear for me if it is fuji who will hit a cord ball or in order to do the counter the opponent must hit a cord ball. actually it makes much more sense if it is the opponent who will hit a cord ball and it is then that fuji can use the 6th counter, since he used the 6th counter after niou transformed into shiraishi (who can return the 5th counter but always in cord balls).

no it's very far from that. it is more of the meteo drive used by niou in inui's dream. actually that dream of inui's is ironic since in the end it will be fuji who uses that.

What bothers me actually though, why didn't the author at least give us how the ball actually go in the manga, rather than just some crappy discription.

Heck, it's actually doesn't even say whether it's volley, slice, or even how the ball goes, only stated that that "the ball fall from the sky with high speed with the help from the wind (does the translator sure it's not a hurricane instead in original meaning? -_-), and due to the irregular spin caused by the wind, it goes towords the spetator bench after it landed" (not even clear whether it's actually bounced or not....?, dang lazy author....).

Unless Ryoma have some better super abilities (no matter how cheap it is ><) to show off later on, Fuji is indeed THE Prince of Tennis of the series.

kakashi1300

no the ball has to bounce inside the opponent's court to be counted as in, otherwise it's out. the only thing unclear is that is it fuji who does a cord ball or the opponent must hit a cord ball before fuji can do the 6th counter. well, i believe more the latter. in any case the counter is really the most impressive, deserving to be the final counter, or is it?

Rikkaidaiemperor

I still don't understand how Hanabi works...

if u wanna see hanabi works just see inui's nightmare because that in his nightmare nio does the 6th counter but it is fuji's new move

No, what I mean by bounce is whether is the ball like Tsubame Gaeshi, only rolling over on the ground, or is it actually hit the ground and bounced off like Moon Volley.
Of course that goes w/o saying it lands outside the court first (that's more than obvious -_-), If not, Fuji wouldn't even use it.

kakashi1300
11-04-2007, 12:57 AM
no, it says that the bounce sends off the ball flying to the audiences' seats.

if u wanna see hanabi works just see inui's nightmare because that in his nightmare nio does the 6th counter but it is fuji's new move

yeah, more or less it is, the meteo drive.

edit: just read wiki. indeed it's a cord ball counter, so that's why he used it against niou when he transformed into shiraishi, who can return the 5th counter with a cord ball. which means the counter is really meant for shiraishi.

The Pinnacle of Perfection is Ryoma's supposed Super ability, but no one knows what it actually does since it was never explained in the manga(unless i missed it). It probably(guessing...) allows him to see the Future like where the ball goes, bounces, and allows to see a counter measure

Did anyone wonder why Fuji use the old triple counter not the improve one

kakashi1300
11-04-2007, 01:48 AM
well the 6th counter requires a cord ball hit by the opponent, so in preparation to that he did the 5th counter (shiraishi always returns that with a cord ball), dunno bout the counters 1 to 4.

@wildstriker it was shown in p16 of ch 364 that the ball flew to the audiences (behind niou)

wildstriker
11-04-2007, 02:14 AM

kakashi1300
11-04-2007, 03:38 AM
oh, the ball's really small enough to be shown, but the projectile path was there, the ball heading towards an exit at the audience's area. also there was no mention that the ball did not bounce like tsubame gaeshi, w/c means the ball really flew.

wildstriker
11-04-2007, 06:43 AM

As long as his instinct still know how to play tennis, that is.

kakashi1300
11-06-2007, 01:22 PM
well instincts are subconscious reactions so it will not be lost by reasons like amnesia. a person who has an amnesia may wonder why he's able to move like that without knowing it. as regards with ryoma's match a problem might still arise bringing him into the court opposite of yukimura's (he don't remember anything), so he must gain his memory back prior to his match.

Mibu Kyoshiro
11-07-2007, 01:46 AM
wait wait wait you guy mean that with instincts Ryoma can play mugen without entering

kakashi1300

maybe he can. but the real problem is will he consent on going on with the match without his memory (he's amazed at how good the players are in hitting that small ball, which shows ryoma is totally clueless at the moment, or is he?)? so he must regain his memory before fighting yukimura.

wildstriker
11-07-2007, 02:31 PM

kakashi1300
11-08-2007, 08:51 AM

(And please, we don't need another copy tennis techniques, almost every team in PoT can do it that's it not even funny anymore; Kabaji, Hitouji, Ryoma, Nioh, etc....)

well we haven't got any details about teni muhou asides from it being outside the dimension of human abilities (so you might say nanjirou is not human anymore hehe). can't really wait for that but we still have doubles 1. the golden pair must shine now because they have a very gloomy nationals performance.

wildstriker
11-09-2007, 01:18 PM

diopatra
11-10-2007, 08:34 AM

kakashi1300
11-10-2007, 10:13 AM
that's why momo's there to pound back to echizen every tennis he had in him. well as for doubles 1 i'm really looking forward to the golden pair's performance. but question, will yukimura get hit too if he'll lose to echizen? can't imagine hehehe

kakashi1300
11-10-2007, 03:33 PM
their synchro, once perfected, would be really unstoppable. it's like muga in doubles. they must be able to do that consciously so that the effect would be stronger.

11-14-2007, 03:59 AM
But then it won't exactly be a really good technique. What supposed to make synchro amazing is that you can only use it when you're unconscious of it.

anyone else feel the mangaka is trying to just drag more chapters out of this manga. He probably ran out of techniques to introduction. But now towards the end..really really bore me.

It's probably gonna happen that Ryoma is gonne only be able to get the pinnacle while he's got amnesia and will probably never be able to get it again...

Aww... poor Ryoma if that's indeed the case... but it's still a posibility.
Seigaku will win in the end anyway (I don't think they ever lost as a team)... so there's no point for the author to keep draging out the manga... it's anoying...

ironbomb
11-21-2007, 10:54 PM
Thats why I started to dislike this anime/manga. In the beginning his cockiness and the fact that he havent lost was kool. But as we progressed through the manga/anime it started to irritate me. Not only does he never lose, His team(not teammates) but his team never lose. Really freaking me out. And to take matters worst, this recent match...Ryoma all of a sudden has amnesia = more chapters..woohoo...drag the story more!

Rain-chan
11-21-2007, 11:13 PM
Yeah, it was good in the beginning when everything was kept realistic... even Ryoma's cocky attitude was ok back then because it was something new... but now it's just geting more and more unrealistic... especially the anime... the tennis techniques are just getting unreal...

ironbomb
11-22-2007, 12:15 AM
Well im not even complaining about the techniques yet..But I found some of them entertaining. I understand that as the story progress, there is a need for better moves but makes the story dull especially all the copycat players.
Also does anyone notice that "pillar of support" meant strength and nothing else. There is no way Ryoma as he is now able to show ANY type of leadership.

lastparadox
11-22-2007, 01:41 AM
i agree that the copycat players are getting annoying. one or two in the beginning was ok but its just getting old now. but everything else still has me raptured. the unbroken string of wins, which were hard fought, the unrealistic moves(or else it would just be watching regular tennis and as fun as that sounds it wouldnt be all that great for an anime..or at least for me..), and even the sudden amnesia still has me cheering for prince of tennis full force..

ironbomb
11-22-2007, 02:46 AM
oh come on lol..the amnesia is obvious a tactic by the mangaka to drag the manga out longer = more money. I mean watching the abnormal tennis techniques were amusing at first but after a bit..it gets repetitive. Its not the fact the fact that they are winning individual matchs that are annoying. The struggle they put up during there matches are indeed good but the fact that certain players NEVER lose....

lastparadox
11-22-2007, 02:59 AM

Rain-chan
11-22-2007, 04:31 AM
There is a lot to tennis... but after all those chapters he just repeating himself now... I kinda got bored reading it last time which never happened before.... It's Prince of Tennis! I shouldn't get bored reading it!... he could've done another side story away from the tornament, or make someone who never lost before loose a game... Ryoma getting amnesia is kinda cliche and obvious to the readers that he's trying to drag the manga out longer.

V-time
11-22-2007, 11:37 PM
The biggest problem i have with Prince of tennis is that they have these abnormal techniques and they are "only" playing for the national championship. I mean how the hell would the world top player play, how would they present someone like Federer O_o. And i agree that the amnesia thing was a stupid idea to prolong the manga.

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 01:46 AM
The 'abnormal techniques' are ok as long as they keep it realistic (no dinosaurs or comets hitting the earth... that's just -.-;;... That's why I prefer the manga, I'm just scared that it's becoming a bit more like the anime) After all it is fiction and you can't grab the audiance if there wasn't any good actions... Can't really compair it with real world tennis.

wildstriker
11-23-2007, 01:52 AM
Tennis world is just so deep.... :D

Again, in PoT universe, middle schoolers > pro.
Realistic techniques?, well, it's too late to stop manga from getting all powerful, more farfetched moves now, I mean, since National arc, tennis moves presented already more or less out of hand that it's practically impossible to perform.

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 01:59 AM
Yeah... the animes were good... (When I said anime before I meant the movie and National OVA's... sorry, should've been more specific...-.-;; )
Ever since the National Arch both the anime and manga just got worse in terms of being unrealistic (the player's seem to have super powers now...)

wildstriker
11-23-2007, 02:04 AM
Really?, I was practically bitter that the fact anime only consisted of fillers ever since Hyotei 1st match..., National OVA is much better since they does keep track with the manga, and only released infrequently to let manga progress more.

Other than that, the movie version is just ridiculous, the live action drama is not far worse as well (If not worse than the already bad movie -_-).

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 02:12 AM
lol... I personally treat the dramma musical as a good laugh... (If i treat it seriously I'll probably have nightmare's about it...-.-;; ). The movie... I don't even want to go there.......................

And I watched the anime before I read the manga so that's probably why it was alright with me... although I have to admit I did forwarded alot when the scenes got boring in the matches before Hyotei -.-;; (but I thought the first and last couple of seasons were good)

frauleinrose
11-23-2007, 02:21 AM
I prefer the manga than the anime. As Rain-chan said, no dinosaurs or comets hitting the earth. I think the anime could have been better if they followed the manga story line. I watched the movie..but I didn't get far with it. I turned off my media player in disgust. The Musicals are okay, because they are keeping up with the manga. I also agree that the scenes got boring before the Hyoutei matches so I went ahead and watched the Hyoutei matches instead. -__-'' Also the episodes before the Rikkai Dai matches too, but seeing Gakuto and Ootori (and a little of Oshi) freak out over a frog was a good laugh.

Also, do you guys actually mean the drama musical or live action drama here?, because the musical is even more pointless since it doesn't provide any story at all. -_-

frauleinrose

The Drama Musical =D
The Drama musical is okay..but it's kinda pointless at one point because when at the part Shishido cuts his hair, Kamakari Kenta (who plays Shishido), just took the fake hair out.

Uh...isn't he supposed to get some scissors and pretend to cut it? O____o;;

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 02:46 AM
Yeah, the dramma musical... I guess they're trying to make it funny while following the original anime script... (like the bit where Shishido tossed out his hair as mentioned before...-.-; ) it's quite pointless but apparently people liked it... that's why they kept on making them...

frauleinrose
11-23-2007, 02:54 AM
I guess XD But lots of females go berserk at the actors. Just look at Atobe's actor, Katou Kazuki -____-'' Anyways, there is humor in the musicals, just like at the Advancement Match Rokkaku feat.Hyoutei musical. Sakaki "interviewed" the regulars one by one and ended up preventing the characters from saying their lines because he suddenly said "Itte yoshi" and they got kicked out. But still, I think it's kinda pointless at one point, but it's popular so they continue making it. I believe they are doing Shiraishi's school next when they are done the Agressive Match Higa Chuu feat. Rikkai Dai musical. :/

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 03:01 AM
Well, in that case they've choosen the right actor for Atobe's character haven't they...lol... yeah, most of the actors are already well known singers or actors in Japan... and yes, the female population does go crazy for them -_-;; I guess it's not pointless to the producers since they've made tones of money from it.... all in all, the musical to me is just for a good laugh...

frauleinrose
11-23-2007, 03:06 AM
Yeah XD Not to mention, they also make tons of money from the photosets they get to sell. Unfortunately, some fans get carried away. Just like Yagami Ren (Yukimura Seiichi). He made a blog entry about telling the female fans not to wait for him because he is worried they'll get heat stroke, but unfortunately, they got the message the wrong way, and they got upset. -__-'' They did choose an awfully cute 14-year old boy to play Echizen for the new cast =D

About the next chapter...I'm awfully curious about how Momo will teach Echizen "how to play tennis again".

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 03:22 AM
Hit him on the head with a tennis ball?... it had worked before...
Or may be Ryoma will get an epiphany by watching the tennis ball move and achieve the pinnacle... either way it's gonna be cliche...
I would actually be interested to see what the author would do to get out of the hole he digged for himself without making the whole amnesia look lame...

frauleinrose
11-23-2007, 03:25 AM
I know -___-'' But still, if Echizen hasn't gotten his memory back before Doubles 1 is over..well, it's over. Some people on Livejournal want an ending where a UFO comes in and kidnaps Seigaku so Rikkai Dai wins by default XD

I do wish Rikkai Dai would win...but that wouldn't be fair, can it? :/

Hopefully Konomi would try to make a better ending, unlike what happened to Peach-Pit with their ending for Rozen Maiden.

Rain-chan
11-23-2007, 03:33 AM
UFO?! ... I don't think that's a Konomi thing... he personally thought the PoT movie with the dinosaurs and comets was a bit too much... eek! i cant wait to see yukimura in action! although we havent seen much of him hes fast becoming one of my favorite prince of tennise characters. its that gentle air about him..anyways..if echizen has learned a new technique or something..like that ten'imuhou no kiwami..you never know how the match will turn out..i actually believe ryoma will win but..
oh and who do you think will be stronger tezuka or yukimura?

I think Yukimura. If Sanada can beat Tezuka (even though the match was decided when the ball went on Tezuka's side), then so can Yukimura =)

yeah it's getting boring now and i didn't really like the movie too much either but since ryouma has amnesia i wonder if he's going to get his memories back???

lastparadox may be right about Echizen regaining his memory during his match.

Hey, I thought that was my Idea!...... nevermind... it would be interesting to see... And Yukimura is gradually becoming popular on my list too ^^ I guess it's because we still don't know much about his play yet... and he has a nice/sweet nature too

Whooops XDDD
Yuki does have a sweet nature unlike Sanada, who is violent and he punched Kirihara ;~;

Since Sanada > Tezuka at full power, it's pretty safe to say Yukimura > them both currently.

i wonder if he's going to get his memories back???

He will of course, only whether right after his match with Momo, or in the middle of S1.

:lol: it would be kinda weired to end the series without giving Ryoma his memory back... -.-;;
on the other hand... Theoretically Yukimura is more powerful, yeah. But if Ryoma ended up beathing him that would make him the most powerful player.... yep... do I sense a clichéd ending again?... -.-;

...Ryoma is obviously gonna win. There is no way he would lose here...1 match away from winning the tournament...But if he did lose, I would find that a MUCH BETTER ending.

So would I. -__-'' Echizen wins every single matches, and it gets kind of annoying. I know he's the "Prince of Tennis" and all...-___-''

Nah..., currently, that title is more suitable to Fuji, unless we have seen something more incredible from him later (which we will for sure I guess -_-).

Rain-chan
11-24-2007, 02:53 AM
^^ yeah. Fuji is at the top of the game now... even though his techniques are somewhat out-of-this world... -_-;
wonder who would win if he ever gets to play Sanada?
The golden pair whould win their game (just for the thrill of the last game.... not that there would be any if everyone knows Echizen's gonna win)
As for Echizen.................... he's gonna win in the end... 99%... depite us thinking it would be more interesting if the 1% chance actually came true.

Yup. Hopefully Konomi will come up with a good ending or else..

I actually like Fuji..the only character in the whole series I like. I just like his style...He is really laid back most of the time. Then he can go all serious on you all of a sudden. His character is also really likable. But I do think he has toooooo many counters lol. At least when he said he had 3 counters...I was like.. HOTNESS..lets see it.. then 4th 1.. 5th 1... 6th 1... like now thats overdoing it =/.

Rain-chan
11-24-2007, 05:01 AM
Yeah... Fuji had been my favourit player from the beginning too... But you're right, the counter's are getting too much...
My reactions:
First three counters - Wow! Amazing! cool!
4th counter - Yes, that made sense (pretty clever)
5th counter - Right... -_-;
6th counter - .......................... it's not just imposible ......... ok, I think now you're really over doing it
-__________-;

wildstriker

I think the 5th already more than impossible to perform actually, and 6th is even only showed offscreen to add the ridiculousness of Fuji's counter..., but that just prove how godly Fuji is even w/o Muga no Kyochi (and Tezuka cannot even beat Sanada w/ 2 doors..., what a shame -_-).

I hope it ends like it did in hikaru no go, with him losing and showing that he is not yet the best

Pffft.. Hikaru no Go.. that wasnt an ending! Totally unsatisfied! Dang..I gotta reread the manga again...I forgot my arguement for that lol...neways I do hope Ryoma lose this upcoming match...

 looks like a lot of people want Ryoma to loose the final match here... I don't mind if he does... but I don't think he will...
if he looses, it will drag a bad message of 'you don't win with passion and hard work' across the audiance (since the story is focused on him and not Yukimura)... plus, i'm sure there are alot of Ryoma fans out there who would be desapointed :P So I'm gonna stick with my '99% Ryoma's gonna win theory'
Although it would actually be interesting to see if he does loose... provided the storyline is gonna be good too :)

Nah, Ryoma should win, proving he's invincible in his own series.

Just look how bad Ichigo is in Bleach, every time he get a power up he'll lose to stronger enemy and get another power up again until he lost to next strong enemy. And not to mention suddenly able to master a techniques that'll usually take 300 years to master in mere 3 days, it's even more ridiculous actuallly than Ryoma's perfect victory match record.

Thats not the message im getting at the moment lol. IM getting so if your cocky at first... you just gotta keep being cocky no matter what happens and miracles happen for you suddenly...I mean shlt.. when he is starting to lose a match...He SUDDENLY comes up with a new technique or another gate or w/e opens up... like wtf?

Whew good thing I dont follow the manga of bleach then lol...Only anime! =P.

Ryoma is definitely INVISIBLE in his own series.

wildstriker

Er..., it the same going for Ichigo actually in the manga & anime since it's a part of storyline. -_-

And do you really mean to say invisible?, or is it invincible?

Rain-chan
11-25-2007, 09:19 AM
Well, technically Ryoma did have a few losses in the past... (to his dad and Tezuka and even Sanada once...) It's only when it got to the nationals where he started to become somewhat 'invincible'... although not at the moment since he lost his memory :P... maybe that's what Konomi was trying to do?... don't get it...
Anyway... hope he doesn't get his memory back before singles 1... feeling sadist at the moment and want to see Ryoma play an offical match without remeber actually how to play tennis... hehe... although don't think that's likely to happen *sigh*

wildstriker
11-25-2007, 09:45 AM
He never lose to Sanda actually manga wise, and rather, crushed Kirihara as well.

I personally would rather have him has his memory back while playing S1 actually, right after he lose 0 - 5, then proceed to remember everything & gain PoP, swiftly beating Yukimura 7 - 5.

Rain-chan
11-25-2007, 10:36 AM
Oh right... got the anime and manga mixed up... @.@ this is what happens when you read the manga and watch the anime at the same time... -________-;

Yeah... that's one of the likely senarios...

ironbomb
11-25-2007, 04:36 PM
lol..When you said he lost to Sanada...I was like really I didnt think that was in the manga xD...I seen the anime first as well so it had a stronger impression on me...Losing to Tezuka doesnt exactly count. It wasnt even an rankings match...Become the Pillar of Support for Seigaku..Blehz make it more unrealistic some more eh? Coming back from 0-5 to win 7-5...

Rain-chan
11-25-2007, 10:41 PM
It's possible if he plays with out his memory first ^^; (not likely....) But you never know... maybe Yukimura is really good (I mean, he has to be) and Ryoma couldn't beat him untill he reach the penacle... Konomi always does these kind of things (making a character loose really badly and come back to win in the last match point
-_______-;;......

yeah i like that idea

but i still want him to own momo be4 the match and both cant happen =(
