Well, most of your avatars look pretty good.

The avis are mostly pretty good, but your tags could use some work >.<
On the first one, Text needs to be blended, Flow needs work, Focus is hard (if not impossible) to find, Depth is non-existent, lighting is a little awkward. I will attribute this one to being done really quickly.

The second tag (FLCL) is monotonous. It needs more colors. Try using a color balance adjustment layer. Again, flow, focus, depth, and lighting are lacking. Text fits much better in this one, but it could still 'flow' a little better.

The third one (sig on the Kenshin Set), I really have nothing to say. You took a stock, cut it, and put some text on it. (To your credit, the text does fit well on this one)

The last one is a bit on the large side. I won't make comments on this one as it was your first, and hopefully, you have improved much from then.

Overall, I think you need to keep working at it. Try using some new effects and things. Just mess around until you find something that you think looks nice. Don't always try to stick to the same style/effects. Go wild. Keep going! Let's see you get better.

(PS: If I sound harsh, I don't mean to. I truly want to see people improve. It's just difficult to convey what I really feel thought the internet. Anyway, good luck! Don't give up!)

heehee...I just realized I forgot an important note about the above siggys and avi/siggy sets. They were all requests with pictures and certain very detailed instructions with it...lol.

Siggys aren't really my thing I just do them if someone I know asks. I prefer avatars when I'm actaully doing things like this... To me they are a challenge to make this tiny space interesting. Anything bigger and Blah...not worth it. At least to me. lol. I do hope I improve but eh I have many other things on my day planner to do...

I focus really on actual people. I do photo touch ups, Wedding sets, one of a kind albums. Eye glasses glare is the most difficult thing IN THE WORLD to get rid of and make the eye look right.

They look pretty good but you still need to work on them. Some are lacking effects
