Prezzo, look at it in a bright way. I was touched towards the end of the anime when Clare questioned and asked Teresa whether it was ok for her to live on like this (not avenging Teresa etc). I think the part where Clare forgave and let Prisiclla off made the ending a little more touching as I'm sure Teresa would not want Clare to sacrifice herself just to avenge her. I was almost crying when I saw Teresa appearing at the end (sentimental person I am).


I was also close to being in TEARS...because Raki DIDN'T DIE.

So in the anime, Clare's purpose in life is to be Raki's "companion"? and NOT to destroy Priscilla? Thank God, I have the manga to look forward to..that morality play is just plain unacceptable to me.

In that case, Miria should FORGIVE the Org and every AB who killed the others @ Pieta. (not in the anime though).

My sixth sense (different from Miata's sixth sense) tells me that Claymore 2 will be on Raki attempting to avenge Clare's death as Clare got killed by some stupid awakened being while trying to protect Raki. Hence, the story of Raki the cry-baby claymore begins.....

They should change it to Crymore...the adventures of the cyybaby companion of Clare.

Reason: Her last moments were cool in the anime. She really pushed on to the limit when she could have given up somewhere along the way. And she managed to convince a sissy Raki to at least develop a backbone. We need more characters with this type of spirit around or we would see a lot of people owning others stuff or giving up too easily in the Claymore world.

It was a mortal sin for the anime Jean to invite Raki in the first place. If she DIDN'T, Jean should be ALIVE, Priscilla would be DEAD and the Slashers would be TOGETHER.

If Clare kills Priscilla at the volcano spot, I would not find the ending anymore touching as it was now. Clare telling Teresa "I killed Priscilla RIP now" would not be a touching ending as compared to Clare remembering what Teresa said "live as a human among the humans..." To forgive and to move on and to live a happy life would be better than always living in a life of revenge and anger.

Prezzo, I don't like the manga Lova Hina as I find it overly ridiculous with so many girls falling in love over a loser from the start. It's worse than seeing Raki crying non-stop for the last few Claymore anime episodes! If I would like to see pure action manga, I would have gone for one like Hellsing where there are senseless killings all the times with so much bloodshed everywhere. Oppose the order and be killed though one might have been a friend in the past. Now, that's what I call action with little emotion.

Claymore, is more than that as I think what makes it worthwhile to read is because it also deals with human emotions. Half-human, half yomas characters behaving and thinking like humans...hence, we can put ourselves in their shoes and pity them at times.

Just wondering whether there is another way to end stuff beside forgiving Priscilla. I was hoping that Clare awakened in the anime as we would not see her awakened in the manga for quite some time (or never at all).

Same here Prezzo. I remember mentioning that I would set up the company along with you if Jeane did not die. So we're off the hook now as Jeane's dead - both in anime and manga.

To avoid confusion: it's official...Flora week next week. That's ABSOLUTE change of the SIGS. Avatars are under the user's discretion. (except for the co-presidents).

Heh...speaking for myself, I've never posted @ the other manga threads which is odd, but you're right. I will say 95% of my posts have been Claymore, even though I read the others.

My new fave Kekaishi isn't even listed even though it won the 2007 manga award in Japan recently. So Im sticking with Claymore...

And I love the fight Clare's team vs Dulf team. Volume 8 over Volume 1 :D I find volume 1 the most boring but its essential to build up the plot.

I would have to say for now, it could be the Slashers' arc. I may be in the minority about this but I thought volume 8 (witch's maw,...purgatory) was "kinda" boring. I don't know what it is, but there was something "restrictive" about the writing.

Judging by the upcoming Claymore shonen in November, Jump Square...it should be Irene. She's on the cover along with Clare. 2 months ago, it was Teresa along with Clare, but somehow it was changed recently.

After further investigation, that is the 2nd part of the Claymore "databook"...supposedly. The first databook I have a copy of but it doesn't have the cover. The cover 'supposedly' is the one with Clare and Teresa on it. The 3rd part is the Slashers' cover.

Actually Prezzo, I don't mind who it will be. I like all the 3 possible claymore candidates - Galatea, Irene or Rafaela. I just hope that Miata does not perform a one hit knock out on any of them. It would defeat our waiting purpose if any of them get killed off by a claymore child in just a chapter :(

Well, its tough to be back in the cold, but not much choice. Had a chance to catch up with the last 2 episodes of claymore... well, not as bad as I feared, though I agree with most people that letting Priscilla off the hook was pretty ****ty! I think the ending would have been better had it finished with Clare letting Theresa's soul RIP after taking Priscila's dripping severed head home as a trophy! But oh well, I must admit I am not too disapointed as it didnt end nearly as bad as expected or as badly as many other animes!

I know, you guys have probably covered all of this stuff already, so sorry for bringing this up again.

By the way, when is the next Extra Scene out? Are there anymore coming?

Do you all think that Miata would mature and be more stable in the future? Or will there be no progress in her nutty mentality at her? Im thinking since mental conditions can deteoriate, it should be able to be improved too right?

It's not I like Rubel, but he's a necessity in the story so I can't exactly hate the guy...he's just doing his job as the lackey of the ORG.

IF it was via ability now that I am suckered in into this debate, speed vs strength, I think that is why Yagi-san never said specifically who was the #3 between those 2. Each have their pros and cons.

It all depends on Sigh. Good thing about the timing of the ES. It's about the "trainee" era of the Claymores so we will (or should know) how they are able to "mature" even though they have yoki at the young age. Hopefully, we will know more about the transformation process.

Ok going back, if you want ONE of those 2 avatars I posted here's how u do it:

move your cursor arrow to the avatar...right click and you'll see properties at the bottom...left click @ PROPERTIES. On the "Location:", HI-LIGHT the entire text...while it's HI LIGHTED, right click again to COPY.

Go to your USER CP button below ONE MANGA. (top corner left)

Go to EDIT AVATAR (on your left menu). You will see a black screen with 2 rows of buttons at the top.

There is a small button that looks like a "postage stamp of a mountain and sun", put your cursor on that button and it will read 'INSERT IMAGE". Left Click. Now PASTE the text that you originally COPY(d) under properties awhile ago.

Left Click OK.

Underneath the black screen says OK or...SUBMIT REPLY. You're good to go.

I saved the ES4 picture that you have posted and magnified it because I have bad eyesight and if you notice something...You see the name Clare Kurea (in Katakana) as the furagana for the kanji「少女」(hence, indirecting implying that the shoujo aka 少女 would be Clare) Yes I know, Japanese likes to indirectly imply things.

So my guess is chibi Clare.

I saved the ES4 picture that you have posted and magnified it because I have bad eyesight and if you notice something...You see the name Clare Kurea (in Katakana) as the furagana for the kanji「少女」(hence, indirecting implying that the shoujo aka 少女 would be Clare) Yes I know, Japanese likes to indirectly imply things.

So my guess is chibi Clare.

Thinking back,that is Clare,she had long hair in the beginning,but it really resembles Alicia and Beth.Than again Alicia and Beth have straight cut frinch.I guess Clare later than cuts it out but Elena might appear in it.Clares eye shouldn't be silver yet,if you re watch ep2,the flashback of Clare and Elena,Clare still retains her normal eye colour.

I guess the writer decided to forget about the first few chapters of claymores since the extra scene had some minor changes here and there.
Miria in the anime didn't cut off her friend Hildas head but in the extra scene she did.

I wasn't ENTIRELY disappointed. In every ES, we learn about something we didn't know before, and the more u know, the better. Other than knowing Clare's hair origin, the rest gives an insight on why Clare was "life-hardened" even at a young age. Having Teresa's "super" blood also helped.

I doubt that was Elena. The "brash" girl was 1) loudmouthed (like Helen) 2) tall and 3) fugly. BUT I have a feeling we'll be knowing her name and seeing her in the future.

The anime is different from the manga. As debated during the 1st 4 threads, Madhouse put their stamp on the series and is their OWN version of the series. That's why the manga is the guide and is more credible than the anime.

I've repeated this a million times, but I've always said that it's Clare's fault that the "monster" Teresa got soft in the end. The "NFL fake move" was another factor that led to her demise. But overall, you're right...Teresa had to die for the series to go forward. If it weren't for Teresa's death, Clare wouldn't be on her road for vengeance.

Other than Clare's hairdo origin, the only 2 things I;ve learned which I'll explain later on mathematically is the really bad "graduation" rate of the trainees. AND that Clare's yoki sensing abilities were evident at a really young age. Clare is a survivor NOT exactly a fighter.

Still the best ES for me is ES #1.

I was just thinking about the graduation rate of 2 per class...it sounds almost right.

If we go with the premise of Teresa's ranking of "77th generation, 182nd warrior", and "10 per class", the result will be 23.6%. That's a bad graduation rate if u ask me. If we also go with the quote by the ORG mbr saying "how many will survive this time?", also means they've got the replacements. Yomas must be killing off the population and producing orphans/trainees at an astonishing rate.

I don't agree "to tone down the grad test" BUT because we can only go with the current info that their final class would be 10 (at the average), that's more suited for the "final test" which is NOT a simulation. I go to university and before I can graduate. I have to INTERN on a REAL LIFE company (which I'm doing right now, but I'm not an Intern but a paid employee) , to gain REAL LIFE experience after graduation. Besides, it's part of the university curriculum.

The same thing applies here. After 1 year of brutal training for these young kids, it's time to go out in the world and face the yoma before graduating. Toning down the grad test WONT weed out the weaklings.

Going back to your premise of "47 teams of 3" , the numbers that we've seen (10 at the time ) just doesn't support 47 trainees.

Remember Teresa's ranking of "177th generation, 182nd warrior"? Even if you say for every gen of 100, how were they still able to graduate 182 out of 177 TIMES 100? The ORG simply want the best of the best.

Yeah I agree with Prezzo due to the below:

1) It is impossible to ton down the grad test as this grad test had only 1 Yoma. So how do one ton it down? Half a Yoma or 3/4 a Yoma? :D

2) The Yomas in the Claymore world are not weaker than the one that died in ES4. Adding on to the difficulty, some Yomas were spotted in groups and there were some that could fly. They're as fierce as ever and would be glad to rip a Claymore apart.

From Point of view of organisation
3) Waste of resources and too many paperwork
Let's say we ton down the test, let all those unqualified Claymores graduation and assigned them too areas. Due to their inability, they all got pawned by the first Yoma they met. It would then be a waste of time and money as other recuits would be needed to replace them. The process had to be repeated, symbols had to be given, more human lives would be gone while waiting for the Claymore saviour etc.

Concerning the issue of 47 teams of 3... I agree with Hollywood and Hynavian's reasoning, however, it does seem like a good/cool idea. First of all you have the benfit of people working togheter, learning from eachother, particularly if the team leader is a higher rank! This should increase efficiency and also reduce the death rate, meaing the org wouldnt have to produce so many warriors all the time and would eventually be able to keep the high standards by replacing dead warriors with highly efficient well trained warriors. Plus you would also eliminate a lot of the personal rivalry,which I have a hard time finding very beneficial! So, I would say it wouldnt be a bad idea.

Toning it down would be an ORG member in a yoma costume.

Good points. She may have changed to be one of the "obedient" dogs that the ORG wanted...or NOT. IF she was @ Pieta, she should've said something to Clare, so we can also assume she wasn't @ Pieta as well.

Also, I retract my previous statement about trainees NOT ABLE to GROW HAIR once cut. It doesn;t make any sense that they're able to regenerate (whether offensive or defensive) yet their hair doesn't...there were so many examples where their hair was cut off during battle as well.

He wasn't talking about 5 vs 5 here, obviously. Even though it's NOT implied that the ORg sent the yomas, the author is hinting that there's a connection.

Well, I'm not part of the accounting department BUT armor, capes, boots are deemed as expenses and the Claymores themselves are assets. When you use expenses and go over your budget, that's a bad thing. We don't know where it goes to aside from the obvious expenses BUt we also don;t know their operating budget as well.

But as Excel said..."the secret stuff" should be part of the operating budget.

Your laptop should be able to play them. I own several Region 2s' & 3s' (Asian film nut), and I've never had a problem playing the DVDs on the computers. I run it on PowerDVD, and the first time I put it in it asked me if I want to switch the Regions. DONE! Only problem is PowerDVD only lets you switch 5 times. It'll keep it on the region, though, until you decide to change.
As for you DVD player you should be able to go onto the internet and find a hack code pretty easily for Toshiba. Hacking your DVD so that it plays all regions is as simple as pressing a few buttons which usually takes less than a minute. Some players require disassembling hardware, but those are very rare.
I've tried hacking my DVD player, but alas, I have a super off brand, and there were no codes. :(

The yoma wasn't talking about the ORG, he was talking about the trainees. Yagi-san has been implying since the Slashers arc' that there IS a connection between the ORG and yomas/AB, but it is becoming more evident that with this ES, that there is an AGREEMENT between the ORG and Yoma/AB's.

I used to hack into my old PS and Wal Mart-made DVD's and play Region 2's and 3 DVD which are not available in the US. I'll have to find the manual first. I am assuming because I can play Asian VCD's on the Toshiba it wouldn't be a problem to play the Region 2 DVD.

To me, it's more of owning the DVD rather than playing it because that "limited edition" copy is a must-have for Claymore fans. Just like Star Wars fans collecting stuff, this is a great Christmas gift for oneself. I'll definitely BUY the calendar by November.

My opinions on Extra Scene 4

Though Extra Scene 4 is not at any point of time boring. And the fact still remains that I still support Clare, I feel that Extra Scene 4 should feature other characters instead. Taking into account the first 3 Extra scenes, they do contribute much to my understanding of the Claymore plot so far.

For example...
ES1 - I learnt that Teresa was so powerful to the extent where she was capable enough to slay an awakened being who was formally number 1. This is important to my understanding of the plot as it allowed me to know understand Clare did possess such horrifying Yoki powers at time. (Due to Teresa's flesh in her)

ES2- I learnt of the sad history of Miria and how her various mirages came about. This is important as Miria is an important sub-character in the plot now. I get to know how her skills came about and how the incident shaped her character. (I've always felt that Miria became tougher ever since Hilda left her). It also answered the queries I had upon reading the slayers episode where an Ophelia like Claymore taunted Miria to awaken.

ES-3 Here we see how Priscilla met Isley and we come to know the truth of who was subordinated to who. This is an impressive extra scene as it answered many queries of mine. (eg: when Pricialla met Isley, how did they end up hangng out together, why is Priscilla behaving like a kiddy, why Isley wanted to head South) This episode definitely contributes alot to my the understanding of the main plot, what more can I say?

AND now I come to my point. How does ES4 aid me in better understanding the main plot for Claymore?

Firstly, though knowledge of how Clare's hair remained short seemed interesting, it wasn't a major contributing factor to the plot. Im more interested in what Clare had been doing during the 7 years time frame; how she mastered Wind Cutter; etc as compared to knowing why her hair remained short.

In short, ES4 should have been on other characters or other incidents that would allow me to better understand the plot instead. So what do you all think?

I particularly enjoyed the Theresa one and the Miria one as it added a lot to the characters. The 3rd one was interesting as well, and we got a feel for Priscila's powers, however, I found that one less interesting.

Now the 4th one... I felt was a time filler to keep people reading until the story picks up again. The only bit I thought was terribly interesting in that extra scene was the fact that the org and the yoma seem connected. Now I dont understand why we were given this piece of information as, except if something major is coming up! I like Clare's character, however, how she ended up with a different haircut hardly requires an entire extra scene, AND she should have kept the long hair! Looked much better!:eban: I dont even think that we need to know about the 7 year gap!

After all the waiting, the ned of the anime (which wasnt great) and 2 mediocre Extra Scenes, the November chapter better be freakin' AMAZING!!!!

ES1 has set the bar between all 4 ES. ES1 is an acknowledgement that Teresa's power was limitless, even while NOT increasing her yoki power. This adds more fuel to the fire that Teresa could have taken out Pris, IF if it for not that "pathetic fake move" from her.

ES2 was the most disappointing of all 4...simply put, a story not worth telling. Of course, it's Miria who I drool over, and I welcome anything about her, but the only good thing about the ES2 was Ophelia's appearance, which proves that she's a bleeping b*tch. Did Ophelia cause Miria's turnaround vs the ORG? I don't think so. BUT one should think that it wasn't the ORG's fault that the ORG betrayed her "by NOT telling her that the AB was Hilda", instead...it was Ophelia's fault.

The only thing that wasn't clearcut about ES3 was a DIRECT explanation on HOW she ACTUALLY lost her memory. The other "small" events like: how they met, why they're heading south was relevant BUT acceptable. It was because of the anime that we gained some insight on the MEMORY loss that answered my question.

The other interesting part for ES3 is that now we know why Rigaldo went nuts @ Pieta. He got his a* handed to him by BOTH Isley and Pris, and that Claymores are the only people he can take on, regardless of appearance.

ES 4: In every Claymore forum I've been part of, never heard of discussions centering on a Claymore's hair. Meaning...it's a "slow, dragging" ES compared to the other 3. WHY this ES could challenge ES 3, is the fact that we have witnessed an actual graduation rite which is brutal and lethal at the same time. More interesting to me THAN another Pris and Isley travel story.

The level of importance between the ES:

ES1>>>>ES4>>>>ES3>>>>ES2.

I already deducted through Ermita's quote after the AB died @ the Slashers's arc that THERE is a connection between the ORg and yoma/AB's, and ES4 AMPLIFIED/CONFIRMED that theory. I would place this ES4 behind ES1 of Teresa.

to 1) NOT necc true but understandable, because we only see Rubel dressed and look the same all the time from start to finish. It is safe to say that 'the ORG" members don't age, but because I can sense something that's not right with these freaks, I will have to say yes from an assuming standpoint.

to 2) I don't know about "friendly" relationship, BUT there was no clearcut quote from the yomas. I agree that the connection between those 2 have been "confirmed" but only to a 'small degree".

Now if the yoma said "he he, like Rubel said, kill these trainees and they wont touch us"...that would've been the smoking gun.

Not bad Hynavian... I hope we get more Galatea as well... And I would not be too sad if she put that nut-job Miata in a body bag. I dont like her. She is too good for my liking. The whole ripping the yoma to pieces with her hands was a bit rubbish I thought. Over the top. I think though, if Galatea meets up with the 7, then there will be an issue of trust. I think they will have a hard time trusting her.

i started reading claymore after a friend of mine told me about it, it's my new favorite manga series. i read the manga within 5 days and im speechless at how good it is.

i was just reading the past 5 (wow) threads, and i bow to hynavian and hollywoodlou for their in depth knowledge of claymore. ill contribute something to the discussion later..hope its not stupid.

also if i have a say, priscilla should be next week's pin up "antagonist", but im a rookie here so if it's riful, ill go with it. sorry, i cannot post my banners because of the rules. believe me, i have some wicked banners to show u guys.

i finished reading the chapters within 2 days. i re-read it again so when i join up in discussions, i wont sound stupid. reading and understanding are 2 different things. i thought it was a piece of cake to read claymore but it's also a complicated series at the same time.

I think the Claymore world is set in a context where Yomas and humans have lived together and the organisation came later as humans want to protect themselves from becoming yoma food.

Sadly, not much had been said about how Yomas reproduce or such and I think it will never be said.

Chapter 13, she remembers her "long black hair" as her "best feature" and also remembers the heartache of being betrayed by her friends to be an ORG trainee/experiment. It should be on the 1st page.

i am. she has presence and without her arm, clare wouldn't elevate her yoki to high levels. how many people can actually sacrifice their own remaining limb to a stranger? i just feel bad about her afterwards but she seems happy for doing that.
