Soul Eater is one of my favorite manga. I wish it came out more than once a month T_T. Soul got really crazy in the last chapter, but I thought the imp was gone now.

And the whole battle for Brew is turning out eally good in anime (I loved the music when the other trio started to fght, the moment when Fire and Thunder began their Resonance of Soul with ...forget his name...quite a good music for a fight)

Well, since the beginning though, Soul is slightly more shown than the other (he's the first main character of SE, but consider the whole team as the principal character.
After that I won't spoil anything, but you'll see more of him in the future. (though I don't want him to become like Justin, his combo with Maka is just a lot more interesting)

And yeah, I can't wait for Soul to play his piano in the anime...only one episode left!! I hope they don't screw this.
And for the music...meeh, I didn't really liked any of the op/ed (the first op may have been the best, though the animations in both were quite good). The music during the anime itself is good though ^^

I didn't like that they changed the episode too, but i think there could still be that other arc. They just changed some minor details like introducing demon hunter early and having mosquito run away But nothing has really changed and i am content with that.

So, Eibon was just a name, beared by the one having Eibon' book...and Noah is just terribly awesome!
Too bad Mosquito died like this, I had high expectations of him (I loved his 400 years form)
And now, Kidd was captured inside the book? Another development I wouldn't have guesse!

And on the other hand, we saw Black Star against Mifune (which is as good as always, though his face's drawgin changed), and now, he's using a new shadow weapon, I wonder what's its power

Yeah, Kid losing was really unexpected.
I wouldn't really cal Noah an impostor, he's the new Eibon now (though, he may be a different one than the one who kne Shinigami-sama)
But I doubt he's dead anyway (one of the main character dying suddenly would be too strange), though I wonder what are Eibon's goal...could he be with Medusa as well? Or being really on Arachne's side but Mosuito getting rid of?

And well, his book is used for collectionning al strange items, so I guess that yes, for now Eibon technically "has" Brew (though how to use it is a mistery)

After seeing Mosquito beat in one chap I'm not surprised at all that that Kid lost just as quick seeing as he was scared to boot.He's not dead just probably in the book a part of Noah's collection. I like hot the reference of the name and what he's doing connects since Noah of ark collected the animals in a sense.

Another great chapter, wasn't expecting to see black star so soon. These month long waits nearly kill me but it's these sort of chapters which make it so worth while.
I agree that Noah will eventually be defeated and from what he's displayed so far it's going to have to be someone really strong. Maybe that'll provide an opportunity to introduce someone new, like one of the death scythes, but there are still some strong guys already present.
More and more questions keep building up, first we had what exactly happened to arachne and now what happens to kid? These are the main ones but another one interests me, what exactly did Noah mean when he said "yes, I think this will do nicely"? We know he doesn't want to collect him, so why does he need it. I'm hoping this will maybe lead to eventually discovering what mosquito's 800 year form's ablities are. I just get interested in a character and he's killed off in less than two chapters. The "most incredible" phrase doesn't help to give a clue either so I hope it's revisted.

I always figured that Maka, Black star and Kid was going to get togeather and kill him. Or better yet, Kid was going to use the power of brew again and kill the guy off. Not Noah to go out and say 'your not worth being part of my colection' and killing him in like two pages. I was sorely dissapointed by that. As for Black star and Mifune, that battle is epic. But even Shinigami had trouble in sealing up Kishin, and also Shinigami defeated Arachne once.
But Mosquito followed Arachne's orders, so I think she is stronger than him, which is why I don't think killing Mosquito should have been hard for Eibon (Assuming he's as strong as Arachne, for example)
But I still hope we get to see Stein ^^

His logic won't need to change if Archane is truly dead. If not that what he's doing does make sense if he feels Angela is safe with Archnophobia since she is a witch. There's no reason to think Angela would be welcomed by Shibusen. On top of that Mifune does just follow orders since he wants to protect her. I think he'd fight anyone for her since she's so innocent.

I don't see him changing his mind that'd be lame for such an exciting fight. I don't see either one dying but whoever wins I see them sparing the loser or something will happen so a killing blow won't land or won't need to be used.

Is he that strong? From what we saw, his soul wasn't that big (though it was special since Kidd had a feeling he didn't knew about it), and Noah himself said that Mosquito soul was relly strong (and probably stronger than him). I think it's more related to Eibon's book power rather than pure power (somehow, it's one of the 2 real Tool from Eibon, and looking at Brew's power, it wouldn't be strange if this book had special features)

Oh, and Arachne being eaten by the Book? I don't think so, why would her clothes still be here? For me, she just scattered to somewhere, but only the uture will tel us the truth about her disappearance

Im glad someone mentioned these guys. Before, I commented that to defeat Noah it would require someone pretty strong and that this would be the perfect opportunity to reveal one of the death scythes. To be honest I'd completely forgotten about these guys but now i'm hoping my prediction will come true (although maka and medusa have yet to be involved in a fight, so it might not.)

Also, about Arachne's "death", I don't think that has anything to do with Noahs collection. I think Noah was telling the truth when he said he was only following orders. I get the feeling her "death" was connected to the magic she completed here http://www.onemanga.com/Soul_Eater/54/30/ . Some might think that this means the magic that effected soul and the others but if medusa already knew about it, I don't think Noah would have been so sure.

I think Shinigami himself is more than enough powerful to defeat Noah... Especially now, when his has become a page in the book... after all, Shinigami is the Grim Reaper (which is what Shinigami means, so I'm being redundant here)... he's as old as the world, and arguably the most powerful being in the world... And who's Noah? Some magical creator whose deeds go as far as 800 years ago? He has done great things, but with all due consideration, Noah is nothing compared to Shinigami. And Kishin... I think Noah is taking Kishin too lightly...

And I don't think any of them are underestimating the Kishin, after all, Medusa is thinking about the same thing as Noah as well.
And we have yet to see the power of the Book of Eibon which was able to kill quicky someone as powerfull as Mosquito (we don't know how would he rank against Shinigami or Kishin, but he was definitively stronger than any of the Meister+Death Scythes we saw so far)
And Eibon (the old one) was a friend of Shinigami
For me, the one you're underestimting is Noah, but that's an opinion
(I would like to know the whereabouts of the 6 (was it 6?) other people who were in Shinigami and Kishin's team in the past...maybe Eibon was one of them and that would explain how would they know each other

When typing my post I wondered about that as well, but it seems Kishin's resurrection didn't changed anything.
Furing Brew battle, when Kid Black Star and Maka saw the old Shinigami's illusion, they wonder how come he could be here when he couldn't leave Death City.
And furing the fight against Kishin, Kishin fled by getting out of the limit of the city where Shinigami couldn't go...so I don't know why, but Shinigami still can't move

I'm sure though if Shinigami could leave, it's actually pretty questionable if he could beat noah. He fought hard against Kishin, it is possable that with Noah 'aquiering' things that he also gets their power. he already has Eibon's power, and now he just got Kid's. Who knows who else he's gotten. Its possable that Shinigami could acutally lose against Noah. But really, soul eater may not be your typical manga/anime, but in the end, I can see somehow Maka and Black star getting kid out and all three of them taking down Noah. But what suprised me the most is that they finally got back on the subject of Kishin. Because if you think about it, they kind of was drawn away from that for a while.

When typing my post I wondered about that as well, but it seems Kishin's resurrection didn't changed anything.
Furing Brew battle, when Kid Black Star and Maka saw the old Shinigami's illusion, they wonder how come he could be here when he couldn't leave Death City.
And furing the fight against Kishin, Kishin fled by getting out of the limit of the city where Shinigami couldn't go...so I don't know why, but Shinigami still can't move

Well, once again, Kishin didn't just flee... he pretty much disappeared... it's different... and it's not to say that now Shinigami is free to go where he pleases, because now that Kishin is freed, he can come back and destroy Shibusen... do you remeber how Shinigami talked about Shibusen as having been built in order to teach students to fight IN ORDER to prevent the return of Kishin?... So, we see how everything is pretty much concentrated around Kishin... but hey, nothing changes when Kishin is freed... Shinigami has to stay because he anticipates the return of Kishin, and the students and Shibusen has to go on precisely for that reason as well... so, the conditions are the same, reasons are different. I don't think Shinigami was ever, "bound" physically to stay at Shibusen... it makes more sense that he was using his common sense and stayed where the greatest threat was... now that multiple threats are OUTSIDE the Shibusen, it is still logical for him to remain at Shibusen, because any of those threats can be on to Shibusen...
I don't know if what I'm saying makes much sense, but that's what I believe...

The real Eibon is most likely dead. And that guy killed him and made his own book eat him. I did not expect DTK to get eaten, especially by a book. I'd really like to see how he gets out of this one. I'd also like to see Maka use Demonhunter again. It appeared in the clown chapters and never showed itself since T_T.

Also I think This fight between Black Star and Mifune is going to be a double knockout. I mean first fight went to Black Star, second fight went to Mifune, the logical next fight should be a draw.

Hm... that's what I said, and I got my words shoved aside :) People think that such an ending would be pathetic, and I don't think so... people think that good ending is a beating and pools of blood, and a near-death experience... after all, and Mifune wants to do is protect Angela... and tell me if I'm wrong, but there aren't too many people who would kill a child, even though she's a witch... I don't think that even Shinigami will... After all, KIM is a witch, and she's a student at Shibusen... and I'm pretty sure that Shinigami knew about it before it got revealed... Thus, although I hate to admit it, Mifune shares the narrow-minded view that a witch will be killed simply because she's a witch... we know that it's not the case, and Kim (I hate bring her up over and over, but she's the living example) is the proof.
And you're also making a good point about Angela being easily manipulated... she IS a little girl, after all... with right upbringing, she can grow up being faithful to Shibusen and opposing the other witches who are evil...
So, in other words, Atsushi could easily take that route without ruining any logic whatsoever... the question is if he will or not...

Mifune protects Angela because people keep thinking that because she's a young witch that she would be easy to kill. Though I have a good questons... how is it that Mifune is so strong, yet Angela gets kidnapped? How in gods name does that happen?!

You are correct, Medusa is Arachne's sister and she betrayed Arachne so the two of them must be at least 800 yrs old, if not older. Eibon is most likely dead, it would be odd if he let a ridiculously power piece of magic, like his book, slip away with out so much as an overstated OBJECTION!

Sorry, completely random but I just realized something. Soul eater really isn't your typical anime/manga. By now, most artist would start pairing people off into cannon pairings, yet their not doing that! And I love it!!!! I mean, its pretty obvious who the cannon pairings are, but really the only romance they've had is Death Sythe ane he's flurtasous ways and Ox and his ovious love for Kim an how kim cares for him back when he came back for her and everything. Sorry, completely random.

Obvious, you say? :) Well, I'm sure many people think that MakaSoul is obvious, but I strongly disagree... they are friends and partners, not a pairing... Stein and Mari currently appear more like friends... Spirit is a loser-playboy, so we can't really count him in anything... Only OxKim is an obvious pairing, but I can't see anything else that obvious... simply pairing up weapon-meister pairs is not the way to go, either... so, it's not that obvious... and the main reason for that - Atsushi focuses on few characters only... I mean, compared to... let's say, Naruto, Soul Eater has much less characters shown regularly... and those characters turn out not to be a good match with each other when it comes to pairings... that actually makes Atsushi's life easier since he doesn't have to focus on any pairing development (except for OxKim, of course...)... It's not that Kishimoto does in Naruto... but still, more characters bring more possibilities...

Romance is predictable. Actually, my favorite genre's would probably be sci-fi/fantasy and mystery. I like horror and action movies--actively dislike comedies and romances, though there are exceptions--and got tired of romance novels after growing up reading them. I don't MIND romance in a story, but I don't demand it and often think the story could be better without it.

On-topic question: I don't usually watch the anime for a series if I'm already caught up on the manga. Is it worth it to do so with Soul Eater? I mean, are there any exceptional parts that are specific to the anime?

Oh well, since both you and Locke asked, I may answer it.
The manga strictly follow the anime up till the recent episodes where slight variations appeared (since the fight team Vs Mosquito during the batle for Brew)
Any good point? I don't know, the anime is at the same level as the manga, and the animation is quite high, that's enough for me to atch an anime (I watch anime a lot mor worse than that and enjoy them)
After that, some people may be bored by the fact it's strictly the same (and on another hand don't want changes...but eh..), but the anime is definitively good

I can perfectly agree with you.
The muic had no real harmony whatsoever, and even if it was meant to be twisted, crasy, or sick, it could still have been harmonious...but well, creating such a piece for an anime would have been delicate (using a classical sheet would have been easier but maybe they need to ask for it and it would have been more troublesome)
The thing is...that it doesn't reflect the fact that Soul is good at piano (the technique itself isn't bad, but if it's just for playing random notes then...it's useless)

It's actully interesting how sometimes an anime gets its own music composer... Naruto used to have Tashiro Masuda before Shippuuden... I don't like the new collection of ST's that they have... but some anime, like Soul Eater, use music that already exist... Firstly a note about Weekly Shounen Jump. As mentioned last week, there is not suppose to be an issue "officially" released this week. So despite the spoilers that have come out, the actual thing is not expected until next week.

Well, you've been told about the raw... But as far as the other part of your question... Twi's answer isn't complete... Spirit doesn't just go on missions because he's a Death Scythe and has to stay with Shinigami.
For one, Shinigami himself has assigned Spirit to remain by his side all the time after the revival of Kishin. Secondly, exactly for that reason Shinigami has called Death Schythe Mari to come and reside in Death City. He wants more than just one Death Scythe there... but it's mostly the first point that makes Spirit stay in Death City all the time... Shinigami wants him there... it's not simply because he has to by virtue of being a Death Schythe... other Death Scythes are spread around the globe, so...

About the subs matter because of the license by Funimation...it won't change anything.
It's been said since long that Funimation was taking over it, and it's been at least 10 episodes or so since they told to stop fan-subbing, but some teams didnt stoped and continue instead of the other (like Soul Eater Fansubs...there was a lot more team before, but I guess they will stick to the end)
I have yet to watch the new episode though, my computer is really slow at downloading where I am right now

Whoo that was a pretty intense chapter. Arachne is...still alive, which sucks a little, but YAY, because Maka and Medusa can fight, and Black Star and Mifune duking it out with swords and are both injured. Pretty good way to leave someone waiting for more.

Low quality scan and really generic cheesy shounen rubbishyness (Black*Star doesn't even seem to try and hide his Naruto ripoffyness) but the art was immense and so was the fight. I can't deny that.

mifune vs black star = most awesome as always. i love the way they reduced their fightin styles to a one sword style kinda thing, Ittōryū aint it. seems like the battle is or has drawn to an end tho. black star has gained a whole load of powers which are damn awesome, i just hope we get to see em somemo individually.

Epic battle that will probably be remembered thoughout the Soul Eater History. I found this chapter to be one of the best. Mifune and Black star just giving it their all trying to servive and kill the other. And with Mifune telling Black Star that he acknowlage's him as a fighter, that was just too cool. Yeah your right about the classic one-move finish, But this was an epic slash fest.The battle went on with there pride on the line and, they exchanged swords, and ripped up flesh the whole time.That was a crazy fight.

I'm kinda glad Archne is still alive she never really got a chance to display her power.Plus with her in the picture shibusen really has to watch their back with all there enemies(The kishin, medusa, archne, noah, allies that might get taken by insanity).That makes one hell of a story line and more epic battles.

But yeah, that fight was awesome, except that I didn't like how Black Star literally told Tsubaki to make herself inexistent by reducing herself to the weght of the katana itself... I agree that her reaction was not due to hurt feelings but I think it was more concern and suprise rather than just suprise itself. We've all seen Tsubaki display worry about black star's condition and I think this was another display of that. I really like how this manga depicts the feelings between weapon and meister, even in the middle of a battle, alot of mangas just can't get the right mix.

nice art too (though the raw scans were a little on the Low side), though at first I was kind of dissapointed in the Shadow Katana's power itself; just a single slicing scarf, I mean, it's power was greater pre-level up (although I understand that it conserves his power more but still..)

I was also a little dissapointed like methaniel when they decided to just have a one slash contest.. although it was redeemed somewhat how it didn't end with just one slash. Still i would have liked for Mifuune to have been defeated at full strength.

Chapter 57 Opinions (Spoilers)

Well I have to say as a Mifune fan, I got to think that maybe Black*Star isn't the victor of this fight. At least that's what I'm hoping. My reason for saying this is because, during the chapter, Mifune and the deer demon that's within Tsubaki were talking about having no hesitation. Right before the last image of the manga, where it shows the sword through Mifune's chest, you can see Black*Star's expression has a bit of a O_O look to it. Now I could be wrong, and I'm sure all of the Black*Star fans are gonna try and prove me wrong, but each to their own. I just mean, that if Black*Star hesitates, just like Mifune and the demon told him not to do, then maybe he will end up losing to Mifune. Either that, or just leaving Mifune there, rather than actually killing him. I mean come on, he has to be a teacher of Shibusen, like Tsubaki said a while back. Besides, what would happen to Angela? That'd be tragic. I think maybe Mifune was saddened about the things Angela had to go through, and maybe got tired of being used, and having Angela's health threatened by Arachne, so he wanted to die, maybe not to feel that anymore. Sadly, I don't think we'll get any answers for a while, because notice the whole chapter was about Black*Star and Mifune, but there was one break with Maka and Soul. I imagine the next chapter will be all about Maka and Soul, and so my fellow Mifune fans will be left on pins and needles. Kick his *** Mifune!

Well, even though I have my own personal reasons as to why I think Mifune will win the fight in the manga, I think that if Mifune and Black*Star were to fight again, Mifune would lose. Mifune seems to be Black*Star's main enemy. Kidd's would be Eibon, I'd imagine. Medusa would be Maka's, and Asura would be Shinigami's. At least, that's how I see it.

Thoughts on Monkey and Bear, [MangaSpoilers] Something tells me that 'Mysterious Bear (?)' might be Wes, Soul's brother. He's dressed in nice clothes, and the bear teeth remind me of Soul's smile. Then again, it's just a thought. I also wondered about the monkey. He had two M's on his head. It either means 'Mysterious Monkey' which is likely, or maybe, it could be ties with Marie Mjlonir. Lol yeah. I know. I think the weirdest things.

Blackstar is definately my favorite character here. I hear funimation bought all of the rights and are suing and serving lawsuits to all online subbers. What a bummer!!! Not only are going to ruin this one as well,but, they want everyone to get it from them when they finnaly release.. Cornering the market sucks.Just give the fans what they want.

Oh, I like this theory about the Bear's identity...it's quite possible, I never thought Wes would be shown more in the story, but that would be a good way for Soul to settle things with his brother (though, Soul is the only weapon in the family...)

And regrding the anime, I was surprised that it didn't deviated as much as I thought from the manga....oh well, there is still huge differences (Chrona and Kishin being the first), but some of the elements are strcitly the same...though, regarding a future Black Star Vs Mifune animated...I so much liked the last battle that I somehow don't want a fight with them not being at the top level (and I'm not sure at all the recent chapters would be included in the anime...it's like 0.0001% it happens
