Suzuka: School Life romance with some Echi aspects.
Anyhow, this is a great manga and the most realistic I have seen yet. The artwork is best that I have seen too (in the realism genre). In fact, this is my Top Manga for a while, (greater than Rurouni Kenshin, FMA, Bleach, D.Grayman. That is until I read Adventure Boys, sorry for leaving the band wagon (it's No.2 in my list though) :aww:

I agree with Long_Ant. This story is very realistic than many other romance manga I read. Throughout the story the Yamato is faced with many difficulties and challenges to achieve few goal, one of them is to be accept as Suzuka boyfriend. Even after they become boy/girlfriend each individual face problem that lead to other
Ending was very enjoyable. Better than I expect and other manga.

I loved Suzuka though. First manga I had read and it was awesome. Anybody else reading the mangaka's new series?

What is his new serie?
Anyway, I (for one), didn't really liked Suzuka. The story was fine, but at the middle it turns out serious and not funny anymore. The reactions are quite good, but Suzuka is seriously a complicated person, and "him" (I forget the name) is too often clueless...

I agree. Suzuka is an extremely complicated person. I didn't expect Yamato to continue to chase after Suzuka after getting slapped 50 gazillion times by her. I thought Honoka was a much better match for him.

Yeah, Honoka was like the perfect girl...there was a moment they weren't far from being together again, and I was really happy..but it didn't happened.
Susuka on the other hand was most of time horrible with him (maybe he's masochist >.>), the good point with her was her family, they were funny, and really human

His newest is Kimi No Iru Machi, but the guy also writes one called Cross Over about, you guessed it, basketball.
Kimi No Iru Machi (http://www.onemanga.com/Kimi_no_Iru_Machi/)
Yeah, and in Suzuka, I wanted to see more of a relationship develop between the main guy and his childhood friend, Saki or something.
Too bad it didn't happen.

Yeah, at first I was also disappointed that Honoka and Yamato didn't get back together again. Then I remembered that the manga is called "Suzuka." :>_>:
Maybe Yamato is secretely a masochist. I can just tell that he and Saito from "Zero no Tsukaima" would be best friends.
I also agree that Suzuka's family was good. Especially Suzuka's dad, who gave Yamato various speeches about life and parental responsibility.

Well, to me, this manga was serious throughout the whole series. I didn't read Suzuka with comedy in mind, more of drama. Human are complicate living creature. Which is why I see this manga most realistic.

just finished this one today and i loved it, probably one of my all time fav now, i really liked the way the story and relationship turned out later, was very realistic, tho i dont believe that nowadays or at least here where i live things would turn out with such a happy ending, but still liked it non non the less
too bad i watched the anime beforehand and so i was a lil bored reading the 1st 72 chapters but in contrary i enjoyed the other chapters even more, atm im actually planning on re-reading the whole manga even tho i just finished it 14 hours ago^^
anyway ending was one of the best ever and Fuka is just too damn cute (damn i love her), might sound selfish and impossible now but im really hoping for a sequel now, showing how she grows up or at least one which starts with her entering highschool, so are there any information saying that there will definetly be no sequel? cause if not im not going to loose hope ;)

yeah gotta agree with u, anime wasnt too exciting and the (obvious) overusage of computers sure wasnt helpful at all, the whole anime felt kinda stereotypical to me, the sounddepartment also lacked some quality or better said the timing (for example at the end of ep 22 i think, wth was that), also missed the eyecandy and in general the anime had no spirit, felt kinda lifeless to me, the only ep i "truly" enjoyed was ep 25, for some reason i really liked that one

I preferred this manga over Ichigo 100%, the plot line is more realistic and more human. The mangaka did a really good job on this one, he has talent to give all of the characters a profound, psychological depth.
What was missing in Ichigo 100%.
I actually hated that Suzuka sometimes but in the end you couldn't but like her.
The end was a bit too cheesy but it was rather a relief after all the difficulties their relationship was dealing with during all those years.

I never got into Ichigo 100%, but I've heard some good things.
If you could have chosen the girl Yamato(or whatever his name was) ended up with, would anybody have chosen Suzuka? She seemed reall-ay *****-ay...
Like, at times she was cute, but then other times it was just like, gtfo.

im a suzuka fanboy and yeah i would have choosen her over all others, i really liked her true personality (u know when they started dating she kinda changed and gave me this warm feeling, never could imagine yamato being together with another one after that point)
i dunno, maybe i was just happy to see that this girl, who seems pretty complicated to the outside, is actually a kind and warm person who just never wanted to lose someone important again and thus was scared of entering a relationship, that said it was the actual reason why yamato had to go through all this obstacles in the 1st place^^
about ichigo 100%, i watched the anime and it totally discouraged me of reading the manga, i also read some spoilers about the end and i totally didnt like them, maybe i will pick it up at some point but u shouldnt bet on it

You know, I wish the manga had focused more on the challenges Yamato faced for being the Captain of the track team. It's as if he became Captain in 1 chapter, and 2 chapters later his year-long reign was already over. Damn time skips.
Just finished this a few days ago. Really was good and I liked how it was actually realistic. I wish though that honoka(?) and yamato had gotten back togethor instead of suzuka.

I just finished this manga series and i would like to say that it one of the best i read in a while. SO far this series is my second favorite in my long list of mangas, Ichigo 100% being the first one. IMO there isn't anything that should be drastically changed. I liked how whenever a new character was introduced they had there own chapter, however didn't like how whenever a character is done with their "part" they just go Missing In Action not seeing them until many chapters later.Overall i liked how this manga was forced around following what you feel strong about and keep going for it. A very good moral story :)

This scene made me get all high and excited because I thought they were going to end up together(I'm a YamatoxHonoka shipper), but no, Yamato had to mess it up... *pouts*
I still wished that they made a bit more character development about Honoka though, instead of just affirming her place as a plot device to get Suzuka all tensed and jealous so that she can make a move...

Indeed,..*shakes head* stupid Yamato...
but what would've happened with Suzuka then? this would basically be the end of the series if he took it seriously, not that that's a bad thing, it's just that I don't have a preference on Honoka vs Suzuka, just as long as it was those two I'm fine =)

The one thing that I love in the manga is that Yamato is always chasing Suzuka even though she is a selfish person and mostly not understand Yamato . About the Ending I was expecting the pregnancy sooner or later cause , the mangaka give a hint in the earlier chapters .

u mean the good luck charm back there right, yeah u could expect her to get pregnant after what she said to yamato when he gave her the charm :D

wahhh i just finished reading the story and i'm so sad now that its over ='[
but yea it was a good story.
the abortion part was really not that realistic though... i doubt many high schoolers will go through with a baby and make it in life, at least successfully. but i guess since they really love each other.
Hashiba was really the hottest girl in the story and im kind of disappointed that she did not get too much coverage... i wish she ended up with yamato's friend (harrito?)
but yea very good story. =] i really enjoyed it a lot.
and yes i do read the new serie hes writing, kimi Iru No Machi, and i have to say it looks like it has great potential to become part of my collection of "greatest romance mangas" in the manga world ahah

well im kinda sad the story is over too, also, i thought there could've been so much more story if like suzuka hadnt gotten pregnant and all. I'm dissaappointed that yamoto never got to beat that guy (for got his name) in the 100M dash. IMO, Yamato should've beaten him eventually. And yamato and suzuka seemed like they had a good way of getting along in life, i mean they had good connections and made right decisions. As long as they had the right circumstances im sure that would've gotten around in real life had this been a real story :P

Read it some days ago, after some guys mentioned it in the Ichigo 100% topic
What can I say, it surprised me. I was expecting a manga similar to Ichigo 100% but instead it reminded me of I"S (and that's one of my favorite manga)
True, there are the typical situations that one expect from this kind of manga but overall the plot from my point of view evolved in a different manner.
Until Yamato e Sukuza get together for the first time, I found it a "normal" romance manga and that was good. After that, the plot revolved almost around the daily "problems" of the couple, instead of showing more and more situations involving new characters that would threaten the couple's stability… until she left for America. But that was good too, it showed how a couple's life would be… it's been more realistic and unexepected in this way.
Well, then there's been vary situations, some were very good while other disappointing, like the "cameo" of Saki… (Yamato's first crush) was it very necessary? I don't understand its role in the general plot. She didn't get an important space to really enter the story, so it was better if she wasn't presentend at all.
Then the end… … … … damn =______=
To explain it better, I have to quote a person from the other topic (which took me awhile to read it all XD)
Dont get me wrong I enjoyed the manga alot until Asahina got pregnant. Then it just became a tragic love story to me. Yes I mean tragic. Its not some great love story like some other posters to the thread have stated. Any time some one loses their dream, has to drop out of college and work some at some low paying job its a tragedy.
[...]
I just hated that in 90% of the manga Asahina is trying to be the best high jumper in the japan. She puts everything into it and then all of a sudden she is pregnant and now she is happy to be an 18 year old stay at home mother living in a small room while her husband with no future goes to work at some low paying job. Sorry but the ending just didnt work for me. They could have at least finished it by showing her a couple years later in college competing in the high jump with her child watching her.
and
I sped through this and finished a few days ago, so my thoughts:
The ending was wtf. Everything they've worked for has been destroyed, but life goes on and they're all happy and that. Now I don't have a problem with happy endings, but the couple currently have no future. When Suzuka became pregnant, I was expecting an ending where she reluctantly gets an abortion, they both have a fall out with their respective families, and they fight on through college, graduate, then get the baby.
Instead, I get the feeling that something is amiss when their families fight with them, then forget it, as though nothing happened. And ultimately, the thing that pushes Yamato into asking Suzuka to keep the baby is in fact a dumb comment by Arima. I thought he was a little smarter than that to be honest.
The rest of the manga is great though. The immediate aftermath of the Suzuka goes to the US and A bit made me smile when Yui finds him lying in bed (the bit after she finds him in bed had me throwing things at my sister to make her look away).
Well, that's what I think too, more or less.
I think that the ending is a good one too, happy and realistic. But also, since this is a shounen manga, involving romance and sport, I don't think that a serious theme like an unexpected pregnancy fits very well in the flow of the plot. After finishing it, I was kinda happy that both Yamato and Suzuka were happy with their new life, but I also got the feeling that all the manga that has been before Sukuza found about her pregnant, was for nothing.
All the situations, thought, worries and so on about the track and field for both Yamato and Suzuka… what about them? The more I was approaching the end, the more I just felt that they were a mere "filler" to make possible that Yamato and Suzuka could get together, and that's all. I really thought that in the end, all the loose ends would've been closed, but it didn't happen… I was kinda disappointed |¦
I even feel sad about the both of them to give up their dreams in that way, even if I know that a situation of this kind is very realistic nowdays. I know that none said that life was fair, but hey, I'm not reading manga to remind me of this =__=
If this was a seinen, I wouldn't complain, since it's a kind of thing that I would expect from that type of manga, but since it's not, I simply don't like the last events )¦
Well, whatever. It doesn't change the fact that now this is one of my favourites manga, I really hope that one day it'll be translated in italian so I can add it to my collection, maybe along with Bitter Virgin… … … yes, I know, miracles don't happen ç___________ç
Thanks to all the people who mentioned this manga, I'm really happy that I could read a such good story ^_^

waaaaaaaa!!!
im a fan of suzuka and...
realistic...
not to boast but i have some same experiences...
especially when i wed my wife early...
i was 18 then and my thinking was like yamato's...
but later after we separated from our family and became dependent,
more mature and understood the hardship of life...
but actually i was more lucky than yamato coz i had a son...
wahahahaha.. i was really happy when i knew my wife gave me a son...
(i was having doubts that my son looks like arima)
wahihihihihihihi....
i had some other experience like when suzuka broke up with yamato....
my wife gave me that same atmosphere and face....
god how much i'd like to slap her and say..
"stop making that face and listen to what i have to say"
but then again i'm being selfish....
(but im not as stpid as yamato forgeting suzuka's b-day)
wahahahaha!!
but hey...
HANDS UP TO THE AUTHOR for having a great manga....
the rating:
10!!!

I was recommended Suzuka after i was done with I''S and Ichigo 100%, and i was a great recommendation.
What suprises me most about Suzuka is the realism of everything. The drawing and especially the story. Even though Suzuka made me want to tear my hair out, it was about the same reactions and emotions that a normal high school girl would have. But is it just me or was the story sort of elongated unnecessarily? Around the end i mean? I would love to hear other people's opinions on that. And also, what does everyone else think about the introduction of..Saki, i think it was? Yamato's childhood friend? Seemed a little bit unnecessary to me.

hmmm... sorry if this offends most of you seems alot of you are highly praising this series but...
after finishing i really felt like venting off alot, overall the series urked me alot, the reason is despite the main focus of interest that brought the main characters together, the series didnt really show much about track and field and although the ending was probably alot more realistic it was kind of annoying at least for me my here are my reasons:
the main character who every one thought had potential as a sprinter never really got anywhere and suzuka had to give up in the end (for obvious reasons trying not to use too many spoilers /sigh)
the series for the romance alone was interesting but the track and field portion of the storyline felt to be just a storline gimic which was what urked me about suzuka i guess couple that with the ending. maybe wouldn't have been so bad had they droped out before getting accepted into that one university for some reason that was just meh... anyways been wanting to vent that for months been probably 3 since i finished reading it.

Well the track and field portion was just a storyline gimmick. It was simply used as a way to add a connection and problems to the relationships of the characters. So it was a gimmick, nothing really more.
If you want to read something romantic and has quite a bit of track in it, you might try D-ash [you can find it here]. The story is good and the track and field portion plays a really big role.

after finishing i really felt like venting off alot, overall the series urked me alot, the reason is despite the main focus of interest that brought the main characters together, the series didnt really show much about track and field and although the ending was probably alot more realistic it was kind of annoying at least for me my here are my reasons:
the main character who every one thought had potential as a sprinter never really got anywhere and suzuka had to give up in the end (for obvious reasons trying not to use too many spoilers /sigh)
the series for the romance alone was interesting but the track and field portion of the storyline felt to be just a storline gimic which was what urked me about suzuka i guess couple that with the ending. maybe wouldn't have been so bad had they droped out before getting accepted into that one university for some reason that was just meh... anyways been wanting to vent that for months been probably 3 since i finished reading it.
I totally agree Kaitou, first like Firestalker said, you can read d-ash which is focous in the track and field and has romance, School Life,Slice Of Life and all that crap that users nowadays like...nevertheless the manga is good with a good and non rush ending, on the other hand there is Inu Neko Jump with a terrible ending but with a nice plot (long jump instead of track and field)
Anyway, I fully understand your feelings about the end, what the mangaka did to suzuka is outrageous, she gave up her dreams to rice a non planed baby..thats crazy, 'cause not for the fact of not being real but they turn out this in a happy way!

Well track was the link between the main characters, the bridge that allowed Yamato to get closer to Suzuka, and that help her fall in love with him, dont you think?

*first post* yay!
To start, I just finished Suzuka for the second time, the first being a week ago and I must admit that it is my favorite manga.
Reading everyone's comments I can understand why some are disgruntled and I see why, but I find it hard to agree, most likely because I know what it is like to be a teenage parent (my son was born a month before I turned 19). Unfortunately for me things didn't have a happy ending. Perhaps the combination of experiences makes me more sympathetic toward Yamato and Suzuka.
Likewise I was forced to give up hockey (which I played for 10 years) very reluctantly, so I can also sympathize with giving up something you love and work hard for in order to devote time to your future, whether it be college or a child.
In short I understand, to some degree, what it was like for both Yamato and Suzuka in the end of the manga, so perhaps my views are a little biased, but oh well. ^_^;

I read it all and like it til the last 15 or so chapters. I felt it was rushed and he couldn't think of a way to properly end it, almost like he'd written himself into a corner and needed to force character evolution through some major life changing event to bring any kind of close to it.
Spoiler's
Suzuka (the character) was a mixed bag for me. I don't like her, maybe it's an ode to great characterization but I doubt it. He just didn't make her a likeable character for me. Her greatest strength was her dedication to her future and being able to give up everything she'd worked so hard for with absolutely no regret and basically giving up her future to become a housewife. To the teenage parents who can 'sympathize' especially the hockey person, there would've been more believable character evolution if she'd expressed any kind of trepidation and any kind of regret that she was giving up her life's dedication.
To me, it was a like a great tv series that get's a cancellation notice in the middle of it's season so they throw 2 episodes together and try to tie up all the loose ends. You're left disappointed and feel that the time you put into it was wasted.

I would have to ask if you have kids... Because when you have a kid growing inside of you it changes your out look on the world. Your future plans you worked so hard for suddenly become non-important. You feel you can give up everything for that life your making.
Or so my wife has told me when I asked if she regretted having our son instead of finishing her schooling to become a teacher.
You'd be surprised how easily someone can give up on dream in order to adopt another, better dream in it's place.

I have to agree, its not as easy to have an abortion and end a childs life before it begins as it is commonly thought, even for dreams like Suzuka's...

well I don't really think that story was rushed on the later chapter since after all there is no other thing that is left to do and well people don't like to see Yamato and Suzuka all their way to college just to repeat their Track and Field career cause it's quite redundant as we speak . and like I said before the writer already hinted that Suzuka will be pregnant one way or another

Just finished reading.
Suzuka is one hell of a character. She made me wanna pull her hair many times for raging for no apparent reason, acting selfishly, violent and harsh in words. Then after hurting the main guy so harshly she decided to made up with him by cooking for him, or asking him out, etc etc and in the end after she ended up mad over a little thing at Yamato again. WTF! She's not cute at all. (Except in the last few chapter when she already resolve her own confusion and decided to stay on Yamato's side)
I was frustrated with her in the beginning, but in the later chapter, as more of her personalities and problems are revealed, I began to understand her more and then I realised that the way she acts is quite normal especially considering her young age, the pressure she's been put into and the tragic junior high incident. No, it's not right to act that way, but it's very human-like. In the end there's only one bad thing about her-she never talks it out whenever she had problem.
And for character development, it's a pity that the manga focuses solely on Suzuka (more or less). And aside from Yamato, she's the only character that gets developed properly. Lol, even how well Miki performs on the track was never revealed! But then if other got more attention the title would've been 'Suzuka and Friends' and that wouldnt be cute wont it :P j/k
I find Honoka's personality to be quite believeable. She's not the stereotypical shy girl that only watches and hopes for miracle-she actually made some moves and they were quite bold! Too bad that she wasn't developed and was purposely meant to be heartbroken :o.
The second time Yamato and Honoka met (when Suzuka was in U.S.) I know something gonna happen between them and I whisper to myself-please don't hurt Honoka again. And it came true-she actually tries to move on and had a boyfriend. :)
Oh and on a special note I was dissapointed that Miki wasn't given any central role and development at all. Judging from her appearance and personality I found her quite likable most of the time. Reminds me alot of Satsuki form Ichigo 100% :P
So yeah as the title says-'Suzuka'. This manga is 90% about her :P

I just finished reading also...
What is it about this manga? Maybe I'm still emotionally drained from reading Ichigo 100%, but it just didn't hook me in as much and make me want to get lost into its world. Perhaps I'm comparing it too much to other manga and this one has to be viewed differently. The other poster was right though, there is a heavy focus on Suzuka and that's fine, she's the main heroine, but what about the other characters? They're just like sidekicks! Yeah there was that arc about Yamato dating Sakurai, but otherwise, was there much to it? I think it's because Suzuka got pregnant. That really sort of ruined the rhythm of the whole thing and there was too much content in a limited amount of chapters.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still read this again, it's funny, it's great, but not as moving as other mangas, sorry ;(
Btw... can anyone recommend manga that are similar to Suzuka on OneManga that are complete?

The author had often stated that the manga wasn't ever going to be a harem. It was always going to be a romance novel. The other characters were always going to be sidekicks and nothing more. The pregnancy thing was a little out of the blue but hardly messes up the rhythm.
I can recommend "I"s" and "D-Ash", oh yeah and "Emma" and "Red River"[Emma being my favorite at the moment, but Red river is good though not finished yet]. All, except "Red River", are finished and all are very good manga stories.

I just finished reading this yesterday and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I was happy with the way things turned out, and contrary to most people I was glad Yamato didn't end back up with Honoka. The only thing I was disappointed in was the time skip. I really do wish I knew what happened in that year.

sure suzuka is complicated but her situation is. she lost her first love before she could even give him an answer so when yamtao comes along falls for her and resembles her first love and all that pain she went through comes back. she doesnt want to feel that way again if something would happen to yamato.. good series but still havnt finished.. lol

The ending was really stupid. The manga was focused on track at the beginning and kept introducing Arima who became Yamamoto's rival. He was introduced consistently throughout the entire series and it ended up doing absolute nothing. The story wouldn't have changed if they never introduced him at all. Yamamoto keeps saying how he'll become #1 and stuff. We never really see him much doing track related stuff besides the beginning.
There were too many pointless stuff in the manga. What was the point of introducing Yamamoto's childhood friend? Nothing. Also what was the hype between Arima/Yamamoto for? Nothing. What was the point of Yamamoto changing his running style? It made him slower, hahahahaha.
The ending sucked but it wasn't something I'm not used to. Almost every manga I read had bad endings. Good thing this was just something I read out of boredom from Onemanga's random manga thing.

i agree with you.
i read Suzuka since all the mangas were taking a break for the new year, and i thought it would be pretty good since i'm liking Kimi no Iru machi, but it was pretty horrible.
first, this manga clearly lacks originality. the setting is really similar to Love Hina, and there's nothing really special about it. there are so many look alike characters with hair style being the only way to distinguish them...
second. i just don't like how Yamato is way too impulsive. he is almost a rapist... forcefully kissing girls and pushing them down to bed.... and he do way too many stupid things, and there is hardly any good part about him. i liked male protagonists from Love Hina or Ichigo100%, but Yamato doesn't appeal to me that much... he just seem too light and having too much mood swings. i'm glad Kimi no Iru Machi isn't like that....
third. i didn't like the ending. i guess it was very realistic, but i would have liked better if it was more of a happy ending, with both of them pursuing their dreams.... these are just my personal opinion.
to me, Suzuka lacks too much compared to Ichigo100% or Love Hina. in originality, characters, relationships, etc... i hope Kimi no Iru Machi won't be like that.....
i just wanted to get this out cause its bugging me so much, and sorry for Suzuka fans who are annoyed by me. feel free to ignore me, but if u want to argue about it i'll be glad to have a discussion....

Well I just finished it today and must say its on my top 2 , like most ppl here I hated Suzuka most of the series but at the end loved her , willing to give her dreams for Yamato. Loved the character development in this series. Also agree they should have given more importance to the track and field aspect.
One thing I really didnt get at the beginning was so many girls after Yamato and he had to go for the one who treated him the worst most of the time and who showed him the least feeling. But at the end it was worth it.
People saying the ending is bad , go read Crossover by the same mangaka , great manga but horrible and I mean horrible ending.

The ending of suzuka is not stupid. It is realistic , it shows that not everything that Yamato had dreamed could come true. I personally think its a good ending (not the best one but good).
@Ruggia : not all protagonist have good qualities. I think the author intended to make him like this. Its all about yamato thinking : Something good gonna happen.
The relationship are not really developped betwwen yamato and suzuka because of the latter wanting to become the best in high jump. But IMO its one of the best manga I've ever read. The ending is not that "happy" but I really like the way it ended ... really realistic.

Suzuka is a fantastic manga. Its one of my absolute favorites. I like how the story is so real in the fact that even though we were set up to believe that track would be important the whole way through life comes at you fast. And is was really refreshing to have a main character that wasn't so perfect but was persistent and not so horribly indecisive like in other manga. The lacking harem effect was also great. That is what kinda turns me away from manga like Ichigo 100% I didn't like how the main character was a hopeless loser but has more women coming after him and persistently so than he knows what to do with. The characters were fun though there were a few useless ones like in almost all these types of manga but nothing so bad it took away from the story. It also had some really funny parts.
All in all I think seo kouji is a great mangaka and plan on reading anything and everything he comes out with.

Well,i think that Suzuka maybe my favorite manga of all times. The first romance type manga i 've read was Kare First Love and i liked it.But Suzuka was even better.I cant understad why it had to end with the two of them going together into university and becoming great athletes and blablabla...it would be too predictable. When Suzuka told Yamato that she was pregnant i was like WTF?I think the ending was awesome, they had a child,he found a good job, they married, they live together happy.Whats so sad about the ending?

This manga was really good, really enjoyed it. As for the people who think it has a bad ending, I think it was really good at the end. Yamato never stops running and If I remember he is still competing in tourneys at the end.
Well as for kimi no iru machi Im not sure its much of a prequel but most likely mangas that have character with connections to one another. Still worth reading though, author is amazing.
I dont think limi no iry is a prequel if suzuka in the last chapter (of kimi ni iru 29 i think) they are watching tv and the is a interview to the ex girlfrien of yamato the one that become a model she is speaking about how she fall in love of yamato when he repair the bell she broke and how they end like classmate 10 years later

(finished reading in about 12 hours, cant stop reading it) im a suzuka fan and i really like gurls with short hair... ehehehe... this manga made me realise a lot of things... about how to be a better person for your other half...^^ i learned to appreciate my gurlfriend even more... ( even though she somewhat represent suzuka, always picking a fight with me for the smallest reason.. lulz)
any how, back to the topic.
while reading the manga, it keeps me in the tip of my chair and keeps on wishing that yamato wont do something stupid, i mean sometimes he's selfish and all but you could clearly see that he cares, love and admire suzuka alot.
@the ending, im not quite surprize about the pregnancy and even the part that they gave up their dreams to be able to have a family. some say that, that was a stupid thing to to for yamato's part but look i see something better... he sacrificed his hard work for his child... i dont see anything bad about that...^^
@the whole story. its a complete master piece for pulling our heatstrings...
@ kimi no iru machi, i lol'd at the part where they went to tokyo, i easily saw that the Clock, Dorm, airconditioner, and the door is really the same... lulz... and i like the way those two drunken woman bang his door.... ( those 2 are the one who always perster yamato's room when they want to be drunk...) lulz...

well , i think because of the mangaka of Kimi no Iru Machi is the same mangaka as Suzuka that be kouji Seo , so that he can do something like reuse character in is next manga like we saw in FT that Hiro reuse Plue and some another character from Rave to be in FT , so that it also have a chance that Seo will reuse character more from Suzuke in Kimi no Iru Machi

Getting even harder to keep reading Suzuka for me... specially because of ... her.
Yeah... i know the spoilers already... its just that the manga inspired me in so many ways.
I guess i gotta keep reading it (im on ch 72 or so), but... its just too much of a mental pain to keep it up.
And then... he comes up with the romance with Honoka... and it seemed that evrything was awesome, fine, that the world was going around again... seriously, evry aproach they had was awesome, evry kiss was so well though and influential...
And then they broke up.
I seriously kept readin in hopes of them coming together again :S...
The series just go downhill after that. I heard, though, that it becomes fairly good again... maybe thats whats moving me now.
All in all, its good... except for those parts that make you think that all the trouble has been in vain; that are basically, the parts where you see Yamato struggling to get to her while she has acted so apathetic to him.
I mean, damit, how can you go back normally to that person when she has treated you so harshly. And how can the mangaka try to make me believe that anyone in its an average mental stability would go that far?
Seriously, if someone hates me that much, just gtfo of my life... theres tons of girls around.

on another note, what about hashiba miki? did she like yamato? personally, i think she did, but her character never really got fully developed. imo, the series would have been better if she also liked yamato, like satsuki from ichigo 100%, although that would make the series much sadder.

No way.... there was already WAY too many girls hot for Yamato. If she liked him then it would have turned into a harem and that was something the author didn't want to happen. Personally I can't stand harem mangas... Well except Ai Yori Aoshi... I think this manga is great just the way it is.

well , maybe the storyline will change because she is Miki not Suzuka , so that maybe Miki wont prenant like Suzuka too , and i also wonder that if this manga has Miki as the main character what will happen , i think that it quite be funny things too , and i also notice that Miki is more sexy than Suzuka too

i think that maybe it wont go to adult but the story will end when they graduate from high school only , but at least i think that it will change from getting preganat to not getting pregnant , and if it will going into adult , i think that it will be only 1-2 pages that show everyone life and family when they are adult

I started out watching it on On Demand from Comcast, But they screwed up and forgot to put in previous episodes of Suzuka so I went online to find my fixation. LOLz! little did I know that I found a manga/anime that would change my view of the world.
Haha of course the author is a genius. First time I read it I couldnt stop :]
I have to say i totally agree! I have read Maralade Boy, and to be honest I don't see it stacking up to Suzuka. After a while i got tired of Maralade boy mostly because it drags also I wasn't in love with the main girl character in that one as i am with Suzuka. Seriously when Suzuka went off to the College camp and he was waiting for her call... I got one LOL I immediatly thought it was Suzuka LOLz I even read it like 12 hours straight just yesterday. Lame right? but I can't help it I'm just like Yaimoto I even had a relationship that could have compaired a little bit to the storyline.
I have often wondered what it would be like to be in Yaimoto's shoes. LOL I think I can say that if it were possible that I would totally do it, even with the ending. (Which was totally AWESOME)
Ah! Sorry for rambling but I love this Manga with a passion!
If you guys have any info on Suzuka spin offs or specials other than the ones already posted please (for the love of gawd) tell me =)
P.S. if you just stop at the end of the anime you are REALLY missing out, I hated the people who made the Anime I got so depressed by the end I just had to read the Manga and I'm so glad I did even though I'm still a little heart broken that it had to end.

Im sure a lot of people who read it feel the same way.
I wouldnt mind being in Yamato's shoes either haha I think it would be a great experience and Im sure that a lot of people changed from reading this.
I find it very inspiring. Sad it had to end but theres always Kimi no iru machi now.

You know, I wish the manga had focused more on the challenges Yamato faced for being the Captain of the track team. It's as if he became Captain in 1 chapter, and 2 chapters later his year-long reign was already over. Damn time skips.
Sorry i Know it's a little late to be responding to this one but I just gotta! =)
I totally agree, I feel that even though Suzuka was in the picture they still should have had at least a chapter on how Yaimoto and Suzuka had develeoped as characters. I mean ya they were both still childish after they came back but, Suzuka and Yaimoto Changed alot in there year apart. there was something missing from that.

Even though Suzuka is one of my all time favorites I really have to agree with Joyride. It really did seem like he was pushing for an ending like he got tired of writing about it.
Here are somethings that I think is missing from Suzuka:
1. Miki and Yaimoto's guy friend. I felt that they could have atleast dated they seemed just like the main characters
2. it needed some much needed character developement when Suzuak left for america, i feel like the author wanted he back right away to continue the story, sometimes taking a break to build on the characters is a good thing in my option.
3. I feel that i would not have been that hard to have them introgate a condom in the love scene when they sad sex. I mean come on it's not like this was an old manga, sure they're in love but seriously you would think that Suzuka as concerned with track as she always was would think ahead. I think that was the turning point for the writer (like the final strech if you will)
4. I really think the Manga need to continue with out the baby i don't mean abortion or any of that just like it seems EVERYTHING was for ABSOLUTELY nothing in the end. Suzuka devoted her life to track, and she gave it up so easliy... that's not the Suzuka I know I feel like Suzuka just gave up on her dreams too easliy.
5. as for Yaimoto he joined a company that has a track team? Sure I get that he ended up liking track but still i think he was always torn between being with Suzuka and doing track, that to me was the basis of there relationship that's how they got so close... not to mentiong that Arima gives the mention of see you in the Olympics. that was cool but where's the follow through?
I'll tell ya I hated the ending of the Anime cause it made me wanting more, so much so that i looked up the Manga (and i don't read that much at all) read all of Suzuka in like 18 hours all in one day ( the most reading i had doen in like 5 years LOL)
I really like this Manga ALOT! the ending was just lacking and it felt like the last like 20-25 chapters for erasing the previous ones. Suzuka just seemed to get so obedient and crap. for me it really seemed like the writer had other things to do and didn't want to end it better, or make it like so super cool Epic Manga!
Does anyone agree with me?

It may say "prequel" in that chapter, but in actuality it's more like a parallel story. A few characters from Suzuka make cameos, but they have no real significance to the story itself. Honoka is heard on the T.V. talking about her love for Yamato and their story as she's being interviewed for her modeling job. So at least it's after they broke up and she started working.
Just to clear it up.

Hi
I have just finished reading Suzuka and here are my 2 cents.
Very good. True the ending's lousy but I liked this for its artwork and the deviation from the norm. This isn't your average manga where guy meets girl, both fall for each other and live happily ever after. This is a one where the storyline is more realistic and could be happening as we speak (Something like this hapened to one of my team mates.) All this makes it more real and hits close to home. Excellent manga.

Sorry but I just had to read it again, cause this Manga is so unbelievely great.
Upon reading it through again I got to chapter 1 ( http://www.onemanga.com/Suzuka/1/39/ ) and I relized/remembered that Suzuka never really wanted to compete in the first place. She just wanted to have friends and have a normal high school life. With this I am sorry but my previous post about Suzuka giving up her dreams and not thinking are not well place in my part. In fact IMO if Tsuda didn't die she probally never would have left her home town.
So I think the Author knew exactly what he was doing on how to end it. Sure I think it still needed more chapters but the ending of the Manga is clear. The whole Track in Field thing, while it was important in the begining and I do believe it was much needed all through out the Manga. That page meant that Suzuka while she did love track she hated being pressured. Going off to America, accoring to the writer was because Suzuka wanted to improve herself for Yaimoto. (to be honest I might need to read it a 3rd time to air out that conclusion heh)
P.S. Even though it's cliche to say so this would make one wicked Anime if they exstended it. I think it would be the smae length as Marmalade Boy (only 10x better LOL) heh i'd even pay triple for each DVD. The only thing they would have to do is remake the 1st 26 episodes or at least the episodes that require that hole in the wall. (seriously idk why they wrote that out of the anime...) <-- would like to know.

I still don't get the reason why she studied abroad. Sure I can read it as much as I want, but I still don't get her reason for leaving it just doesn't make sense to me. Yamoto gives he a compliment saying she looks cool and it makes her happy? so that's why she decides to leave the guy she loves to go study abroad? I'm gonna continue to ponder this, cause I still don't get the reasoning half way through my 3rd read through maybe I can find my own answers. (But please share your options)

I've noticed several posters asking about manga similar to Suzuka, but I've not seen anybody mention Open Sesame here. The male lead's name is Yamato. He moved to Tokyo in his 1st year of High School from a rural area. The manga uses athletics (boxing, this time) as a device to drive the story, but it isn't a sport's manga. It even has a few similar scenes.

i think that it similar because both of them are romance story , so that the storyline like that , is one of the way for storyline of romance manga , so that it can be quite same , but at leasr Open Sesame isnt drama like Suzuka , and all of storyline especially the end isnt same with Suzuka for sure

The manga isn't confusing. It's complex enough to make it worth my time to read. Now Suzuka, she was confusing. Yamato never knew for certain, until the very end of manga, what the girl was thinking.
It sounds like you need to keep reading the story. I don't think you've gotten very far yet.

so the moral of the story is to be as mean as possible, then force an unexpected kiss, then be mean as possible again.
joking aside, i enjoyed reading it. but obviously, realistically all these coincidence couldnt possibly happen (i.e. asahina missing the train with yamato instead of honoka, whom i was rootin for). but if these coincidences didnt happen, this wouldnt be a manga (or it wouldve been call honoka if she was the one that stayed over his house). and also, national level athletes? that doesnt seem very "normal" student life. but i digress...
the one-year gap when asahina was in america? and no character development for honoka? (well the manga is called suzuka...)
i also find it hard to believe that someone would fall for someone, only watching from a distance for ten years, and still have the same passion throughout the same time period. yet lets him go after one year of modeling. and she was SO determined to win him back. (guess modeling changed her perspective of everything)
also, where is the fine line between determination and knowing when to let go? i know in yuuka's scenario, it was probably time to let go. but what about yamato asked out honoka, isnt that considered letting go suzuka? or when yamato threw away suzukas computer money, isnt that letting go too? or did he never let go cuz he was determined like he said when he first got rejected suzuka? and if honoka had been alittle more determined and not replyed to that model shooting guy, would yamato have come around? and if kabawaya (sp?) had been determined? well, sorry for ranting. i still enjoyed reading this manga. even if the mangaka did the pro-honoka ending (which wouldve been awesome!), id probably rant for asahina. ulg! now that i think about it... <other thoughts that i might type up later (need some zzz's for now)>

so the moral of the story is to be as mean as possible, then force an unexpected kiss, then be mean as possible again.
joking aside, i enjoyed reading it. but obviously, realistically all these coincidence couldnt possibly happen (i.e. asahina missing the train with yamato instead of honoka, whom i was rootin for). but if these coincidences didnt happen, this wouldnt be a manga (or it wouldve been call honoka if she was the one that stayed over his house). and also, national level athletes? that doesnt seem very "normal" student life. but i digress...
the one-year gap when asahina was in america? and no character development for honoka?
(okay that last one was a "haha, jk" one)
hmm... it seems my short posted list of thoughts (i have others, but am too lazy to fit them in printed sentences) is a pro-honoka statements. i guess im like one of the earlier posters who dont like it when shy people lose.

I agree with you on some things, but the thing is.. If you think about it getting left behind on from a trip is not that farfetched also that National level thing it does happen to real people. sure not to the normal person but if you remember correctly Suzuka got to that school on a scholarship so only the top ranks track and feild people would go.
As far as the Going to America No characters really had any character deleopment. No chapters of Suzuka in the US.. No Chapters of Yamoto as captain (pissed at that). Nor Hoonka. Honestly I like hoonka but not as much as Suzuka because of my personal past. {Ex never opened up for me like Suzuka did for Yamoto}
I dunno about the Hoonka and why she loved him. Probally the love at first sight thing but if you like that whole senario then you definitly need to read I"S pay attention to Itsuki parts.
The letteing go of suzuka thing. with most of these Managa's you guy the Hero being retarded like that. He loves the one chick he gets dumped or whatever the girl just made a move on him and he was prett much inexperienced in love. He was honestly letting go of Suzuka when he threw away the money for the computer he wanted a fresh start. what you need to understand about hoonka Modeling is that she wasn't happy. She loved someone who did not love her back. She pretty much did what Yamoto did and wanted to start fresh with something. It's kinda sexiest but all the Manga's I have read so far always have the Chicks giving up the guys, so that the guys will love another girl. Girl sacrificeing her feelings so that the guy can be happy.
Check out Veoh.com to view the Anime of Suzuka (only goes up to chapeter 74) and I"S (OVA) is up there too I would read I"S Manga first cause I"S Anime is English Subbed haven't found dubbed
And always feel free to rant! This is probally the only Manga That I don't mind when people rant! And I Highley recommend that you read I"S given your "rant" LOL TTYL Buddy
I finished this one last week and Im confused.
first of all, I think yamato is an idiot. he fell in love with suzuka after only seeing her, and after that, most of the time she was a total ***** to him.
still, he keeps loving her, although there are all these pretty girls in love with him he doesn't even notice:mad:
also, hashiba (the running girl) said she was in love with yamato, and even had a few unofficial dates with him, but she never seemed to actually try to get him.
another thing that confuses me is near the end when yamato met honoka again after she went modelling, and she kinda confesses to him; that night she sent him a text message and he sent a reply just before falling asleep. the next day she calls him and they meet in this restaurant where she tells him she has a boyfriend.
what the hell did yamato's message say that made honoka choose the other guy?
when she called him, I thought he had asked her to meet him in his message and ended up sleeping through it or something, but I never found out. does anyone know wether this manga has been put to an early stop?
another thing is yui and saki, I thought yui was a great girl, and after suzuka left, she offered herself to yamato and yamato rejected her. after that, she just disappeared and didn't show up untill the end, same goes for saki, she was there for a few chapters, but ended up doing nothing:S.
well, these were the weird parts, I liked reading the rest of the manga, but the end seemed a bit sudden.

Haha Every body thiks the ending is really sudden. that's because it is. It couls have easily had 300+ Chapters and still not get old in my option.
Let me try to clarify some things for ya. Since this Manga is a "Slice of Life" all of this is norm in the real world. Think of it this way.. Remember the first few chapters? How they were all happy go lucky loved being together. The the first rejection, Suzuka never really gave him an answer. Fact that drunk lady spills her sorrow to Yamoto after he is rejected is more than likely the main reason why he never gives up. This Manga is not so much about Suzuka, it's more about Yamoto being confident in his fellings. Granted he joins the track team but at that time he's just an idiot. Hoonka and Hoonka chick friend help him relieze that he still like Suzuka. It's not soo much that he liked her because she's hot, it's more than that. He respects he "I want to be her equal" he tells this to Miki.
Sometimes you can just feel something towards someone and you don't see anyone else but them and only them.
As far as the Hoonka appearing later and then saying she had a boyfriend.. I really dunno that's one thing that I think was lacking from the story I mean you don't even know if she actually had the boyfriend "for real".
The Yui and Saki thing. For one it's hella hard to accept Yui after a blow like have your girl leave you. Speaking from personal experience it's really hard, I didn't have a girl throw herself at me but it's hard to move on after having such strong feelings. Saki knew that she lost him to Suzuka. Check out I"S and look towards Itsuki, she does that same as Saki in thay Manga.
Above all live by Yamoto's belief! if you don't take a step foward (and tell people your feelings) Nothing will change. but if you take just one step foward (and tell them your feelings) something will change (you'll be together with em or you can move on to someone better) something good will happen.
My Belief! Go all out in life! Leave nothing to regret!
Haha mine's a bit more simple it's simliar (I've believed in that before reading Suzuka)

What I think is that the artist is trying to illustrate the heart of both parties waxing and waning like the moon. The load of "pretty girls in love with him" are meant to help bring that out and develop both their characters and bring them closer or further apart. The ending, though sudden, was necessary.
For one, it was not the artist's intention for Suzuka to continue track, simply cos early on she said that she didn't really want to continue it.
Another point is that since part of this whole manga is about the turmoil between the couple and how their young love shines through (sorry if it sounds corny), once yamato finally gets a place in her heart and warms it, its time to end the saga
Probably the most important and pragmatic reason why the manga has to end like that is because it would be the best time to end her track career. Notice that they ended close to the graduation where the seniors would be relinquishing their responsibilities from their high school team and would have to choose between continuing their career or quitting it. This way she can go with a clear conscience as opposed to if she left just before the competition. Kinda lame but its the best explanation I can come up with to explain why he did not cut the manga earlier when they were still in school

Better than I expect and other manga.
i agree its the best manga iam glad that i read this manga.
its a real life manga i know that this manga come from a real life story.
the ending is the best marring yamato ^^ but the climax is little sad, having sex in high school life but it end in a nice wedding.
i wish that this manga is still on i should say still updating or an OVA or part 2 is still exiting

What is his new serie?
Anyway, I (for one), didn't really liked Suzuka. The story was fine, but at the middle it turns out serious and not funny anymore. The reactions are quite good, but Suzuka is seriously a complicated person, and "him" (I forget the name) is too often clueless...

I'm having a bit of trouble piercing that accent, but I agree with the point that Suzuka's complicated.
What I think is that she has too little self-confidence in herself. That's why she doesn't reveal her inner thoughts easily, primarily because she's afraid of what may happen. From the way she handles sports, the lack of self-esteem and confidence really shows (I recognize it right away, the lack of confidence to break the 169cm early on, the problem with comp pressure and that peculiar way of handling people who get too close to her emotionally. I was like that some years back when I was in the national team.)
Anyway I'm quite glad that she's happy in the end, though the ending must have turned her life upside down.

Yamato loves Suzuka, from the beginning he's attracted to her. Her character puzzles him but it doesn't stop him from being in love.
Later on he decided to give up on her so that he (they) could have a fresh start. He thought him and Suzuka couldn't be together again otherwise he'd never do that. It is not that he doesn't love her, more the opposite.

Sorry you were talking about Honoka. Yes that looks stupid. But he did not want to stay on a failed relationship with Suzuka, there was that girl that liked him and he quite liked her too. So he tried going out with her hoping to develop feelings and make her happy.

I loved this manga. First off, the mangaka's artwork is awesome, my favorite along with Ichigo 100%. I was so glad to find a manga that just didn't end with the boyfriendxgirlfriend thing. It went beyond that and explored the relationship deeper. True, the ending didn't turn out as your typical hollywood manga ending, but it was definitely realistic, which I give it major props for. And the ending was happy, as well. Though, for the life of me, I still can't figure out why he'd put up with a nut job like Suzuka for so long when he had two beautiful, normal, kind women willing to throw themselves at him (Honoka and Yui).
It seems like he left it a bit open for a sequel with the whole "planning for a second child" part, along with no resolution of the actual track part, but right now I'm enjoying Kimi no Iru Machi and the little Suzuka cameos he puts in. :P

Cool. Another Kouji Seo fan. About why he put up with Suzuka, I won't understand either. I suppose love is blind. Anyway here's my take on the girls of Suzuka
Honoka - She's the possesive type (kinda like Nanami in KNIM). The artist brings across this very subtly for most to notice, but the signs are there:
http://www.onemanga.com/Suzuka/33/27/ - what happens in the next page is important, but even more important is the bottom frame on this page.
Amami Yui - Her main purpose is actually to contrast Suzuka's personality (she reminds me of someone in KNIM too - Eba with short hair:)). All in all, she's probably a minor character.
Suzuka - A spiky personality. She's actually very sweet under that unwelcoming exterior, though early on we only get small glimpses of it. In fact, I think throughout the whole love story it's only towards the end that we truly get beneath that thorny exterior: http://www.onemanga.com/Suzuka/166/03/ - what struck me most was her reaction in the first frame on the next page http://www.onemanga.com/Suzuka/166/04/ that was so unlike her. I was expecting some nasty comment.
I know that this is very hard to see because the major fault of this manga was that the characterization was too subtle for the masses (though in the anime the characters some things were done to cover this shortcoming). I think the artist is doing a better job in KNIM in characterization.
PS: There is a Suzuka 2 but it's a 4 page omake. If you're interested you can go Red Hawk Scans.

That was pretty cool. :) I'd prefer a regular, full sequel, but it was still nice seeing the old characters. I guess I'm just impatient. Waiting for a week to go by to get more of his work is tough, even with the other mangas I read. Of course, I've been on a huge manga kick for the past month or so, as I haven't had much time to do anything else besides work. Maybe I should do something else for a bit during the down time. :P

But yeah, if you want to see lots of swimsuits and a slow, sweet love story with various lovely female characters in it, Pastel is a good choice. I am kind of a fan too.

Check out my sig. I read I"s and I found it quite good, especially the ending. I nearly cried there.
I'm trying to say that Suzuka is unique in its own right. After all, where would you find such an insane relationship portrayed so realistically and dramatically? It has a special way of presenting itself that makes the reader feel for the characters more deeply than other romance manga. (Also I did mention that Suzuka reminds me of myself :)). Suzuka is one of those manga that are clearly in a class of their own, much like the evergreens like Inuyasha, Love Hina and Ichigo 100%

I like Pastel. I think it's still going as well. It's another one like Suzuka and I"s where thing continue after the whole boyfriendxgirlfriend comes about. It's definitely sugary-sweet, but I have no problems with it. It does have some things in common with Suzuka, though. Such as a boyfriend who gets killed by a driver who falls asleep at the wheel (not the main character like in Suzuka, though).
Is Emma a shounen or shoujo manga? I find that I can't really get into romance mangas unless its got a male protagonist going after a woman instead of the other way around.
I'm also thinking about reading Mahou Sensei Negima, but I'm not sure I can get into a romance/harem where the main character is a 10 year old boy. Love Hina was one of my favorites, though.

Emma is really about two people that fall in love. The protagonist is Emma, b ut she's not really chasing after the guy. They guy does most of the chasing... There are some really great moments and the artwork is by far the best of ANY MANGA I HAVE EVER READ!!
Trust me it's not like your typical flowery shoujo... You'll see no flowers around the main guy, nor will you hear the character spout off lovey-dovey one-liners. You'll not find a perverted main character constantly chasing the girl around nor will you find a female lead that is beyond abusive to the lead. You won't find the characters denying their feelings[though there is a little of it]. You also won't find any love triangles in this story.
The characters are in love and Mori Kaoru portrays that very well. I would categorize it more of a Josei than anything, but even that doesn't really describe it.
I really love Mori Kaoru. Her stories are well researched and her artwork is light years beyond anyone else. The story itself is well paced and, though I wish the ending was a little better, not so long as to feel stretched out. She did write a follow-up volume that has past, present and future stories in it in order to see how the characters got to know each other and what they are doing now after the main story.
You can buy the entire series at Del Rey, including the final bonus volume.
Here you go... to wet the pallet a little:
Emma 1 (http://beta.mangafox.com/manga/emma/c051/4.html)
Artwork 1 (http://beta.mangafox.com/manga/emma/c001/7.html)
Artwork 2 (http://beta.mangafox.com/manga/emma/c014/22.html)
If you want I can write up a short review of all the romance manga that I recommended. I also have a lot more than those that are just as good.
I would also recommend you read the Milk Crown series. They're incredibly funny and romantic, much like Love Hina but not so long and abusive[in fact there is no abuse in the manga at all]. It's one of my favorite series to date.

I'm sure that looking cool to Yamato was only one of the reasons she went and even though he said he loved her at the airport, the pain of them slowing separating was too much for her, so she probably thought it was best to get away for a while. Sure, she was glad that he loved her, but she was afraid of going through the pain again.

Ooo ya nearly forgot about that part. She did mention that they always fought and wanted to break up. Maybe that was the reason

Well that was because Suzuka was really hard to understand. She was not open enough to share her feelings and was not the kind of girl to listen and try to understand her boyfriend's feelings. She kept her reasons to herself and didn't really think of how Yamato would feel. She decided things by herself which made their relationship grow apart. But really, I think most of the girls are like that... Freakin hard to understand! hehe XD

I agree, but there are candid moments. She's like a porcupine with a spiky exterior but occasionally shows the soft underbelly. This is an example of:

These are harder to find and subtly portray her as a nice, gentle, thoughtful but insecure girl. These, however, are examples of nasty moments:

These are easier to find and is the 'tough girl' exterior she hides her insecurities behind. Unfortunately this is the way she's remembered by most people.
Naturally I didn't bother to trawl through the whole manga but I think you get the drift

I think one of the best parts of the manga is when Yamato is trying to get back together with her and he grabs her from behind and yells at her for never letting him know what's on her mind. I think that part right there made her realize some of her own problems, which is why she said for him to be patient with her. After that, the relationship between the two became much better because they both were starting to realize their faults and were able to move beyond them.

Actually that was the turning point of the whole relationship. Finally she realized that what she has been doing all along wasn't that nice and she started letting Yamato into her life a little at a time.
Of course when that happened the story would begin to get boring, so KS began to round up the series. If I recall that was around the time she got pregnant right?

Yeah, it was just several chapters after that when they slept together, so I'm assuming that's when it happened (stupid guy was given condoms like twice and never used one). :P

It was done by Red Hawk Scans quite some time ago. Just 4 pages of omake, not a sequel. Also is there any other way that we can find and put up the short filler chapter on Miki Hashiba? I think it was done by UC Rumble scans and appeared between chapter 120 and 121, if I remember correctly.

I sense a fanatic here and it's not over Suzuka. I'll take a look at those manga and stop trying to make you see how good Suzuka was.
Btw, random question. I was re-reading the manga and have a question: How do you say no to this face? http://www.onemanga.com/Suzuka/112/16/
Yeah, you really can't say no to that face though he should have.
Who can?

There is only one way. Cover your eyes from that unbelievable face.

Hehe... That's what I said in my previous face.. But then having that face reflect in your mind, I'm afraid you still can't say no.. hehe

True. Still I didn't know that Yamato and Asahina would actually marry. I thought they would just end as a happy couple, nothing more.

Then you seriously need to read it again. Try reading from Chapter 147 onwards
Afterthought: Should this thread be closed? It's a bit over the 200 post limit
