If you like romance you will love this manga. I like to try new things and I happen to read the summary of it on the site and started reading it and loved the style. Korean manwha is awesome. I love all the characters, especially Shin.

What do you guys think of it??

Goong S I believe is a different series that is similiar to Goong..thats what i believe....and I have yet to see Goong in a English Bookstore..me just happy that the site finally added another chapter...

the difference between Goong S and just Goong relating to the drama is that they are produced by different TV studios. apparently there was a rift after the 1st series and so 2 second series are being created. thats what i heard

on a side note....

i dont actually like this manga a lot. i read up to the 1st 30 chapters (maybe more, the bit where she is in the pool and all the ice water comes out or something...) anyway i soon became bored of it and felt the tone was very repeative. i also didnt like the main characters. i found the girl (i cant remember any names) to be really immature and i found the prince to be, again, immature, sexist and really selfish. i just couldnt like the characters

but then again the art work and attention to detail also knowledge of korean formal dress was interesting. so was seeing prince william being drawn manga style.... hahaha

I gave this manga a try too after falling in love with the tv drama.

Im still working my way through the chapters. I couldnt hold myself back and I went to read the last 5 chapters. My opinion is that the latest chapter is kinda anti-climatic as something is about to happen but nothing happened after-all :)

Yeah, Shin did go overboard at times. Using harsh words and stuffs. But, that is his personality:D

I like Shin so much. Besides Raito Yagami from Death Note, Lee Shin is my favourite male character. He is cool, cold but loving, handsome, smart, ambitious and sometimes lil bit funny, naughty & somehow naive. :D

Lol~ Shin is really very cold hearted before he married Chae Gyoung.

Now, he slowly develop more common sense and sensitivity towards others. Thats a gud sign of improvement. He is more fit to be a king now than before. N he is one handsome king!! :D

One more thing i like about Goong is the way the author express her characters feelings. Its so different. we cant predict what exactly will happen next. And the concept of this manhwa is also a lil bit difrent. This manga is just so special and stand out from other manga.:D

Chae Gyoung doesnt love Yul. So no matter how good an offer is; like life outside the palace & others , she reject them all. If i were in her place, i'd do the same thing. hehe:D

But i pity Yul as well, he helped Chae Gyoung a lot. From support, freedom, when Chae Gyoung feel down.. he was there for her, when Chae Gyoung lost her robe..he made a new one for her & many more. He did everything 4 her.

Weeeeeelll, Yul APPEARS to be the perfect man and he does love Chae Gyoung a lot but I can't help but notice that he has his bad side too. If he were as good as everyone sees him to be, he wouldn't do something as nasty as blackmailing the Queen Mother.

Shin is sometimes cold and harsh but it is good to note that it was his upbringing inside the palace that caused him to have such a personality. However, Chae Gyoung's presence has helped change him and he has become a better person. At least his somewhat "bad side" was sort of subjected upon him by the strict rules of the palace. Yul decided to be scheming and nasty on his own. =P

Before he threaten the queen, he did bribe some people... I dont recall for which incident it is (cos i focus more on Shin:p). But he really loves hae Gyoung. N no matter how romantic he is, Shin still conquer the aura in the manhwa(not just that he is the future king) :lol:

Geez the last chapter is abit of a mood spoiler for both Shin Chae Gyoung. I thought that fans can get to see some progress in their relationship but their relationship turned sour in the last minute. Now we have to see more chapters of the 2 leads battling it out and hope for some resolution.

Oh coming to this, they got the pop idol Seven to star as the main lead in Goong S. However, I think the plot for Goong is way cooler than Goong S though.

As for the manga, I hope to see a continuation of Shin's love story if it's going to be a long running. I don't like character changes.

the storyline is good with brilliant detailing. and there are loads of new surprises and situations to keep your interests up!:thumbup:

but theres one prob, why is everyone so selfish in this manhwa :( *cry*, i mean there is a limit to getting angry with the characters, i think i have been angry with almost all the characters.

I was also irritated with the artwork at first but Im still not used to it even now. But the plot is good and I continue to follow as its great to watch the plots unfold progressively.

I feel that since its set in a dog eat dog world where only the strongest survive, the characters all try to out win one another so as to be crowned king in the end. If they hate that world, they can forfeit their chances and be a "commoner". Well, I bet that none will be satisfied to be a commoner though.

well the thing is that manhwa's have different artwork than mangas. sometimes i prefer manhwa's because the drawings are closer to the real people (in my opinion). the thing i hate is that they look so skinny and you can see their collar bone.

what makes he think tat once Shin divorce CG, he can get CG? or, he wanted to free CG from the palace and make her feel happy tat way? CG only feels happy if she is by Shin's side.

and i think the manhwa is about to end..i mean this is maybe their last and most critical conflict(cos Yul knows the truth about all the king's promise and bla bla)

yup, I also prefer the manhwa. I think the manhwa is funnier while the drama is more serious.

I feel so sorry for CG. She was so happy to be by shin's side. And now she is coercing herself to seperate from him. She deliberately hurt him so that he give up on her. Although she still loves him and hopes he will see through her lie.

This manhwas is slowly driving me crazy...In the last released chapters weren't any action...It was just boring:P

the latest chapter does give out some hints tho like CG's mom realized something wrong with Yul when he said something like 'this is their last time talking as husband and wife'.

and tho CG looks so sad, it is Shin who carries most of the burden. and he has nowhere and no one to express his feelings to except CG and yet CG demanded a divorce.

its not CG's fault either cos she was forced to do so, but from Shin's point of view, it was CG who started it all about the divorce cos she's still mad about her granpa issue. ahhhhhh. i need to read the next chapter badlyyyyy. i have a disease 'i'll die if i dont read Goong next chapter'. *faints* lol:p

Hi guys, I have so much thoughts and emotions after reading Goong. It isn't just a sappy love story to me, it entails so much more, so please read my thoughts about this story, and if anyone could share theirs too, I would appreciate it so much <333

Once I got past the first volume, (put off by the ugly faces initially) I finished all 96 chapters straight. Watched the drama, but the main actor didn't attract me one bit, so I stopped :lol: He just lacks the charisma and charming air of menace that the Shin in the manhwa has, haha.

I just love how the relationship developed between Shin and CG. It's interesting and smart how the author/artist used CG's loneliness and gradual reliance on Shin as a plot device. It makes total sense, and I could totally imagine how those two would develop feelings for each other, being in the same boat - two teenagers suddenly thrown into the ridiculous situation of marrying each other. Naturally, they WOULD come to rely on each other, the two of them facing off against the rest of the scheming, adult world.

I loved the divorce announcement scene, where CG realised that Shin had put so much of his fragile, delicate trust in her, only to be betrayed by her. The poor dear boy lived in the constant fear that his most loved ones might turn their backs on him any time. I really wished with all my heart then, that CG would be the final one for him, a safe haven where he could finally rest at ease.

And especially because of this, the last few chapters were just totally heartbreaking, them being forced apart after overcoming so many barriers to be with each other, just when their romance was finally acknowledged by the both of them and reciprocated mutually.

I don't know if I should feel sad for Shin, or CG. On Shin's part, he had to put aside his huge pride to confess to CG, even begging her to stay, even if he knew the reply would have hurt him badly, venturing into the unknown and risking everything to go all out for CG. To me, because of how Shin's character is, Prince and all, this really means alot.

And on CG's part, brushing off so coldly, the prince that she loved so much with all her heart. I can imagine the pain she feels for putting him through so much torture, and the worst thing is she can't even tell him the truth. She had to play the role of the heartless ***** to save the one she loved most :(

Well these are just some of my thoughts after finishing the whole manhwa, and why I love it so much. Thanks for reading my ramblings :)

yes. i totally agree about the development process. its very slow but its so deep, i mean..its like every single thing that happen has connection with each other and that what makes them even closer.

the author really knows how to touch her readers emotions. happy, hurt, sad, tears, angry. by just looking in Shin's eyes, i feel so saddddddddddddd *sobb*
and she has good fashion sense too*winks*

I really like the manga, and i havent actually seen the tv drama, i didnt even know there was one!
However I am catious when i go to watch an series on tv while i'm reading the manga because it might ruin the ending (It certainly did with Prince of tennis)

The artwork is absolutly amazing, as i find with many korean Manwha compared to the more stylised manga.

Just a though but has anyone read Bride Of the Water god? The drawing is extrememly detailed, and if you like goon you'd like this one as well, I'm sure~

really love this series. I started reading it waayyy before the drama came out, and loved it. When the drama came out, I watched the first episode and stopped because it wasn't as good as the manhwa...
Yul is so much better than Shin, imo. He's just way too cute x)

I just found it last night and I read through the whole thing. ahahaha. no but, I was so frustrated because shin and CG finally are open with each other and everything, and shin has finally confessed to her, and then this whole divorce thing happens! like, I feel so bad because what's going to happen to shin? he always feels betrayed and abandoned when he's left behind, and finally when he has opened up to CG he thinks that she wants to divorce! Ah, I thought it was strange! CG was still in hospital and in the next chapter she's suddenly at some party and sitting on the ground...
For translating you need to ask the scanlation group since Onemanga only host the translated chapters.

I kinda love this chapter! Shin understands her so good. CG never wanted to divorce, deep down in her heart she hoped Shin won't sign the divorce paper. But he's done it only for her sake. His words "I will bring you back" was a good ending for the chapter...It gives me a bit hope for a happy ending;)

@ tears123 - to me, there are just too many difference in manhwa and drama. the obvious one is their clothing. in manhwa, even the maid wore traditional clothes or watever u call them:p most of the time.

of cos u cant follow everything in manhwa, but i still think they can do a much better drama. and in the drama, they change or add some characters to make it more interesting like one of Shin's friend has a crush on Hyo Rin and stuff ^^

tears123; well the drama already finished, and the manwha hasn't so i reckon there must be tons of added stuff there around the last episodes. I've only watched the first seven episodes and there are some differences indeed.
1. I find Chae-Kyeong to be more of a sad person in the manwha and lot more cheerful in the drama. It doesn't even look natural when she cries and all...
2. Yul is too cute for words and impossible to hate. Unlike the manwha.
3. In the drama Chae-Kyeong's grandad is dead already, therefore there is no "your grandad died and i couldn't tell you" issue.
4. the short guy (whose name i can't remember) is not in love with Yul. I find that too amusing in the manwha.

i'm watching the final episode of the drama as we speak, and i reckon there were some pretty boring episodes (to me at least, because i already knew what it was all about, i guess). But the last episodes are amazing.

I liked the manga a lot and I didn't knew there was a drama too. Are they really about the same story? I saw just a bit and don't think so for now.
I found the manga interesting in every single chapter, it stole my eyes and mind completely :)
The style is awesome.
The cousin has turned into a little devil, sigh. SPOILER When I heard about the divorce from the mother of Shin I was really really really sad, almost crying :( I hope it never works out and been heard from the media.
