it looks like F-O stops scanlating. Really sad, their releases were always great AND fast. The reasons are understandable though, stupid noobs complaining about stuff they get for free. :mad:

I got to say - I enjoy reading Negima series for quite some time! The story had been great so far and now up on chapter 185, can't wait for next one heh. Every time a new volume book come out - I brought it to re-read again.

Kudos to all the people who did all the scandating - they deserve credits for the work and time put in for all fans to keep up on new updates.

That "mysterious fellow" is Fate Averruncus. The guy who appeared in Kyoto waaaaay back. He totally pwned Negi until Eva came to help him out.

i could find his name in the manga, but i do know he strong. he beat both asuna, setsuna, and negi in the first place. he uses both western and eastern magic. for western he uses petrification (turning to stone) and water spells and for eastern he summons demons. he one of the toughest people negi faced. in the next chapter i hope to see if he wants a rematch just like kotaro

Well, Aquastar (a.k.a. [AQS]) also scanlates Negima but they seem to be slower than F-O. People say they're better than F-O, although I don't care about differences. It's the same story and people who complain about the quality not being top-notch are scum.

Actually the water spells that Fate uses are Eastern mafic, the SUIYOJIN spell that summons the grasping hands made of water, is actually a mantra to summon a water sprite that controls water.
Fate's western magic was earth magic. petrification is a sub-category of earth magic.

I can't read half the writing in the double pages of ch 185, the resolution is too small.
I am under the impression taht Yuna, Makie and the others will be the one group in ten years to successfully stumble into the magic world. Otherwise Donet would not have even mentioned that it is even possible, unless it was going to actually happen.

Donet didn't say that people get lost for ten years, she said only one person in a ten year period ever manages to make it through, the rest just end up back where they started in a daze. Nowhere did she actually say that it takes a long time to find their way out.

Takamichi was only a teenager in the flashbacks of Asuna.
the photo shows big guy at back, and in front, Alberio, Nagi, boy, Eishun and the guy who looks like Tak. who's name is Gateau Kagura Vandenburg. Nekane is not Negi's sister Oneechan was his nickname for her, funny that they seem to speak with Japanese honorifics, in England and Wales, isn't it? Nekane is his Cousin.
I wonder if Gateau's middle name has something to do with the fake last name Takamichi gave Asuna: Kagurazaka.

Hmm... it is not really wierd if Negi refers to Nekane as "Sister" (instead of Onee-chan/Onee-san) - or some other word which roughly means sister. But then again, where would you find an English person named Nekane. She'd have to be Japanese as well! The same goes for Nagi and Negi (and maybe Takane D. Goodman). If she WAS Japanese and related to Negi I wouldn't be surprised how Negi or Nagi got Japanese sounding names.
On the issue of Japanese language, I do believe Nekane readily understood Negi's students. Then we'll have Anya as well (who apparently knows enough Japanese to make friends with Nodoka and Yue and be understood by Asuna).
But then again, they could have had laguage translation magic...

Who cares about their surnames? You can be any nationality you want/can/are without reference to your surname/last name. Nekane could have had an English gent for a father as well, if you'd like.

In several cases, it is said that Nekane is actually Negi's Cousin, her father is Negi's uncle, who was petrified as shown in the flashback in volume 8 just prior to the fight against the demon Count. Negi lived alone in a guest house belonging to his uncle in a village in Wales, where Nekane would visit him during holiday breaks, before returning to the magic academy. Negi moved to Wales to live with her after the destruction of their home town and the petrification of everyone in it except Nekane and Negi.

Speaking of him one thing bugs me, how did Yue and Nodoka use the bottle (that Stan used once) to seal the the Slime Sisters/Trio, they didn't have magic power at that time, did they? (For those that don't know what I'm saying, please look back into volume 8)

This arc would have been far less agitating without all those noisy, screechy non-magical members of his class, and at this rate he'll have the entire class using magic or at least be aware of it. Sure, they add some comedy, but their comedy just distracts from the plot and ends up having half of a chapter that would normally have good addition to the plot delayed for another chapter. They hinder Negi's plans and give him "support" when its not needed since he has plenty enough already.

Don't worry about it being scanlated, someone is probably already on it, and there is another group I think released it I've seen.

I never said Stan was Nekane's father' Nekane's father was one of the other statues, where he is facing to the left with his staff out-stretched

Stan is just an old man who Negi called Ojii-chan which is like calling him grandpa, uncle is ojito and grandfather is ojiito with two i's.

Stan is no relation to Negi or Nekane at all, he's just an old man who cares about them and promised Nagi that he'd watch over them, and is angry at the Thousand Master for going away and leaving his son all alone.

Here's an alternate theory for Fate, who people think is some sort of construct, maybe the real Fate is a human, but the Fate that participated in the events in Kyoto, used water to create a sort of fake body to house his mind inside of, so as not to expose his real body to danger, kind of like Alberio at the Budokai, as Fate's body didn't seem to have suffered any harm even after being punched in the face by Negi and Mega-Vampire-Punched by Evangeline.

What this forum needs is a topic dedicated to the magic used in negima, It'd be great to see what kind of spells that the regulars could come up with.

Spells in ancient greek or latin and their translation and effects.

I used a website that translates into latin to make up a couple, including alternative "cantus" spells, a demon summoning/binding spell, an attack spell that combines four elements into a tornado-like effect and a spell that creates an armour-like coating of earth and stone to protect the caster.

I'd post them here but I don't have time today, sorry! :p

How can chapter 186 be the end of volume twenty?

up till now the volumes have all been 10 chapters long:

15 = 130 to 139
16 = 140 to 149
17 = 150 to 159
18 = 160 to 169
19 = 170 to 179
20 = 180 to 189
21 therefore should start with chapter 190.

what need is there to combine mage with a ranged class like sniper?
mage combos best with a melee class, to balance out the weaknesses of spellcasting, but a pure mage would be able to concentrate on power spells.

Actually, it has been about one year, when he started it was just the beginning of 2003, and the students back then were all wearing coats, scarves/mufflers and gloves/mittens, indicating that it is still cold. Konoemon Konoe the bighead master said that Negi would student-teach until March. then there is a timeskip after the library exploration in vol 2 with a few andom things happening. volume three picks up after the holidays with the class now in 3A.
volume seven has Ayaka inviting Negi on a trip to a resort over Golden Week, a week containing four national holidays in Japan spanning april 29 and may 3 to may 5.

the festival is one month after Negi started training with Evangeline which was one week after the Kyoto trip.

Since Negi says he's on his tenth year, you can probably assume he's rounding up because he is almost 10, even though his actual birthday isn't stated.

anyway, people should make they're own spells we have a bunch of air, lightning and a couple of ice, dark, light, earth/petrification and fire based spells, and one water spell, and un-incanted gravity spells as well, for western mages. eastern mages are looking kind of under-powered with the small number of spells/talisman powers we've seen from them.

Who would you most like to see make a re-appearance as an opponent?

Tsukuyomi, Graf Herrmann, Chao Lingshen (not likely as a villain, if at all) or maybe even chigusa, if she gets more power, and escapes jail.

It was quite obvious Fate was going to reappear.
His parting words, the things said about him by Eishun, and the fact that Kotaro knew about the demons, and the later conversation by Donet and Akashi-sensei (does he have a first name?)
were all plot devices to set up for a reappearance. If you've seen lots of tv shows and read lots of books, you tend to be able to identify such obvious plot hooks.
Anyway, does anyone know what the person playing Negi in the live action show will look like, I shudder to think about it! when do you think it will actually start airing, it might be good for a laugh to see what they do with the concept, even if it does turn out to be nothing but stupid school-girl harem comedy and nothing else.

I wonder what Fate would say to Kotaro, about him being on Negi's side now?

I've been watching an anime on youtube called "The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"
about an eccentric girl who wants to meet a real alien or time traveller or ESP user (esper) and creates a club called the SOS brigade to find one. she forcefully recruits a bunch of people, who, surprisingly enough, turn out to include, an alien organic computer, a time traveller friom the future, and, you guessed it, an esper. the most unique of them all is Haruhi, who, despite, being unaware of her new friend's true natures or even her own, somehow has the power to create or destroy reality on a whim, and doesn't even know it. The fifth character, also the narrator for the show is Kyon, an ordinary human, whom the other three all reveal their identities to, saying that somehow Haruhi chose him. it's funny, you should watch it, there's 14 episodes.

it can't be an after-image, Negi can't do that technique, and afterimages don't bleed, as they just dissappear after taking any significant wound.

Negi probably won't fight yet, they'll probably be rescued by the friend of Nagi's and Fate will escape, as Negi would not be in any condition to fight yet, and negi has not ever had a wound this serious. He's been bloody disemboweled for crying out loud, if it weren't for magic existing it'd be pretty much a mortal wound.

Hopefully Konoka has a chance to get to him, so she can use her pactio artifact, I can't remember the names of her fans.

If they made a fighting game featuring all Negima characters with combat ability, so no iincho or nodoka or Yue, but including villains, who'd you play as? I'd play as Kotaro, Negi or Evangeline.

You're taliking about Neo Pactio Battle, for Wii, but it sucks, it's more like smash brothers and it only has a few characters and none of the villains, it has negi, asuna, eva, nodoka, and a couple of others, only about 8 or so.

I mean a real fighting game like mortal kombat style or Naruto ultimate ninja style.

and it should only have characters that can use real combat spells or martial arts so Nodoka, Yue and Konoka would not be included as they have no combat ability, they only have very basic magic, and non-combat related artifacts, and they have very slight physique, from the fact that spend most of their time in intellectual pursuits, and apart from climbing bookshelves on library island, don't get much physical activity at all.

Negi is going to end up in a hospital or something. with nurses wearing Neko-mimis, lol
I wonder if the sporty girls will get their pactios soon? Akira's would be something to do with water, (Super soaker that shoots fifty tons of water pressure) Ako's might be a magic soccer ball or a hypodermic needle.
