Topic change... after the vamps united with Tokyo they (Tokyo) were not shown until Nuri came to them and then... the vamps were not with them, where are they... lurking in the shadows to wait for their chance to come, like Nishi? Then they're bound to die.


I would not call him a traitor. the team had moved on with out him. he didn't feel he had a place in the team. their goals and his were different. they wanted to survive, so they did not engage and just found a small coffee shop to sip mocha latte's in while they watched the battle. He went out to fight, because he felt he owed a debt to Kei. even Rekia () gave up on him to an extent. Any way I'm getting off topic he's not a traitor for going his own way. The vamps are traitors for slicing up other aliens.

speaking of the vamps, they are probably staying out of the way biding their time waiting for the round to end. they do not care if the mission succeeds or fails.

Actulally Host Vamp is out trying to end the mission quickly so he can "get his finger back".

So yeah I see it like Mrdelta and Black Chocobo the Vampires doesnt care about the outcome of the mission. Host Vamp just want to survive to get his finger back and maybe also to safe the vamp chic.(so he wouldnt ever say it^^)

I'm still not understanding what Host Vamp's place is going to be in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't surprise me if he survives this mission but somehow gets killed afterwards during the off mission moment.

BTW, I watched a documentary this morning about those Japanese "Hosts" that Host Vamp is patterned after. I knew their job was to joke and flirt with women, I didn't realize that 90% of their clientèle are prostitutes, strippers and hostesses. Some of the hosts even encourage women to go into prostitution so they could afford visiting the host bars.
It's a fascinating doc.

On topic: I think Host Vamp may stick around for a while; he's stuck in the game but I don't think he'd be stupid enough to let everyone find out or he'll likely make up some ellaborate ploy to get the other vamps to agree to lettting him stay there, and he seems to be the strongest of the vamps and may have some pull in the organization.

I liked the sniper, he was the only minor character that was playable in the PS2 game. I hoped he would've survived that ordeal. But Nishi's roast of the entire Tokyo team in the anime is classic and not to mention that he's only like 14 but already a battle-hardened war vet.

But Kishimoto is weaker and dumber she was Kei's... pet (haha^^) and was degraded into an object of lust, her skills were weak her character was expendable... Chapter 91 (or 92) depicted Kei seeking for Kishimoto's 2nd self, after that she was never mentioned again (save for a few "I will revive these persons" scenes)

Gantz is bi-weekly after all... do not expect the manga togo by your head, fighting was always a big partof Gantz and story as we know a rather small one (save character development) all Chapters between Oni and Osaka had been story-progressing ones and now? We have the craziest mission ever with a perv ****ing an alien right in the mission, though one big alien arrives and urges to kill him. (that was my "Golden Moment"^^)

Even in life I don't think many people deserve to be called ugly. They have to be really fugly for me to say anything. That being said I think Tae is beautiful!! Tae was like a breath of fresh air. Before her the women of Gantz was all t&a, which is amusing at first, and then after a while it's pretty superficial. Tae is beautiful in a more realistic sense... because not every girl has breasts the size of her head. :p I especially like the fact that Kei managed to fall in love with her. It really showed his growth. Because Chapter 1 Kei wouldn't have given that poor girl the time of day.

I like Reika because of her flaws. She's beautiful and yet she's probably one of the most conflicted characters. Because of her shortcomings she strives to be better. She's admirable in the same sense that Muscle Rider is.

As for the blowjob scene... I think Oku was trying to show how much Tae really loved Kei. Of course he did it in a way most guys would want to see. Candles, wine... a deep look in the girl's eyes while she poured out her heart about her devotion is just too dragged out. Let the girl perform oral sex and swallow. One of the qualities that I like about Gantz is that the art is (for the most part) realilstic. Having a parade of girls skip through with overemphasized bodies was one of the unrealitstic things about Gantz. Having a normal girl adds to the realism, and thst's why I made the comparison.

Reika is lost without Kei, I just don't see Tokyo going anwhere it's depressive how they opted to get some coffee and leaving everything to Osaka,but also Old Man is nothing more than a normal side character without his bond to Kei.
I'd really like seeing Oku change that but not by reviving Kei, as I said many times. They shall find their senses and get back into badass fighting, or they're bound to be wiped.

I will admit I liked Tae more before the whole dependence on Kei thing but she is still a very human character. I still like her and I still hope Oku does not toss her aside.

I do not think its fair to judge Reika's actions this mission. the whole team is still recovering from a huge blow and her especially as she did have a chance at saving him. under the oni alien mission she was scared but she still pushed on, and Kei in the early days did the same. she has potential as a second in command.

Now that he's gone is not a good excuse to fall apart and cower in a corner like Inaba during the Oni mission. I applaud Oku for making them act like real people would 90% of the time, but that doesn't neccessarily make them right.

Kato's best friend died right before his eyes but he still had the resolve to get the Vamps to fight for them and he saved a lot of people going into the mission w/ just a capture gun.

If you actually think about it, it was tactically a bad move less man-power makes it easier for the aliens to pick off the weaker people narrowing the field until eventually they come to you in full-force and it's just a woman, a marital artist, a kid, a freshman, a some guy who never takes off his shades, a coward, and an old man. Not to mention the fact that there's no time limit and more than likely Gantz'll kill you if you can't or won't get the job done.

But enough of that. I think Oka will be revealed in at least 2 chaps b/c he had a hard time w/ the spider minotaur and the 100ptr looks like he's 10x stonger than that thing. So the 100ptr would probably do something that would make Oka reveal himself.

the Osaka team did not want to team up, they wanted the mission to them selves. the options were really force yourself on the osakans, ignore them and engage in combat somewhere else, stay back and let the osakans do the dirty work.

To be honest option one is dangerous. they did not know anything about the osakan team and what they had seen screamed psychopaths. option 2 carries the same danger you talked about as option three but now your poking the alien horde with sticks, not to mention your not sure what the Osakans might do. option 3 keeps your team out of the fight. you gain intel on this new team. you keep your people out of the direct line of fire. had the 100pointer not started roaming and gotten them involved, and had gantz not forced them into a corner option 3 would have been a fine choice.

tokyo did not know how much of a dick gantz is. Kei knew but he is dead. Nishi knew but he's a dick too. for the rest of the team gantz is still pretty much a mystery.

that said I don't know if Oka is going to be revealed at all. It might just end up as one of those "who was that masked man" situations. meh, only time, and the next chapters, will tell.

Actually it all depends on how long the mangaka feels it should go on. Most mangaka like to set their long-term projects around 200 chaps at the least and 500 chaps at the most. Although sometimes publishers may decide to step in to put the kibosh on manga that have lost their luster.

I read somewhere that Oku said he had an idea for the ending but he has no idea how to get there and he still wants to try out some new ideas and arcs.

Choc, I said from the beginning that she's flawed and so did others. In fact I stated that as one of the reasons I like her so much. As for Kishi not getting the benefit of the doubt... I felt sorry for her home situation and that she tried to kill herself. Obviously she was seeking love somewhere, and found it in Katou... it doesn't change the fact that she was an irritating character and that sometimes some of her actions could be perceived as selfish and underhanded.

Kei was the glue that held the team together, though. He was their leader, and they followed his example. And not only was he more experienced, but he had experiences that the others did not (like being the only person on a mission). Reika not only lost someone she loved, but was also thrown into a position of leadership. All this, and her first mission as leader... as well as their first mission without Kei... is against a 100 pointer?? Don't get me wrong, I was just as irritated as anyone else when we saw that all Tokyo was doing was wandering around, trying to let the time go by. Choc, I said from the beginning that she's flawed and so did others. In fact I stated that as one of the reasons I like her so much. As for Kishi not getting the benefit of the doubt... I felt sorry for her home situation and that she tried to kill herself. Obviously she was seeking love somewhere, and found it in Katou... it doesn't change the fact that she was an irritating character and that sometimes some of her actions could be perceived as selfish and underhanded.

The benefit of doubt means, we don't have proof that Kishimoto would've behaved the same as Reika or Tae during their respective relevant events we were discussing about, so we have no proof to speak bad of her. She could've shoot like hell at Ultimate Oni, whereas Reika was just shuttering in fear. This is what it means her past or death circumstances are completely irrelevant (God you're so formal NeX :D)

Kei was the glue that held the team together, though. He was their leader, and they followed his example. And not only was he more experienced, but he had experiences that the others did not (like being the only person on a mission). Reika not only lost someone she loved, but was also thrown into a position of leadership. All this, and her first mission as leader... as well as their first mission without Kei... is against a 100 pointer?? Don't get me wrong, I was just as irritated as anyone else when we saw that all Tokyo was doing was wandering around, trying to let the time go by. I've finished reading Gantz. This latest mission has been on-going for like 20+ chapters, if I'm not mistaken. Can't wait for the next one. >.<

I want Kei Kurono to be revived as he is the natural born leader for the Gantz team but I guess Katou can just about fill that role. He is a much better leader than the Reika girl.

Izumi was a great character- not necessarily a good guy but a great asset to the team. His strength and Kei's have definitely impacted on the whole Gantz team capability. I'm hoping the Host Samurai guy can make up for that lacking. He looks to be one of the most potential new members.

I'll just have to wait who'll get the 100 pointer and what they'll do with the points.. I'm guessing Katou may take it since he's one of the few members of the existing experienced Tokyo Gantz team that hasn't past the 100 point mark. Osaka sucked badly.. despite there experience and their cocky attititude.. lol the perverted guy still lives on.
I wonder how the mysterious last member of Osaka team looks like behind the armour.. :/

Well Reika's a good leader (she was able to formulate a plan against one of the Oni bosses and against the 100ptr, albeit the former didn't really work until Kei showed and the latter was just a means to escape) but as I've stated before she's not always 100% reliable on missions.

And I wouldn't say that the Osakans suck b/c Nishi isn't a slouch when it comes to kicking alien *** yet he was taken out of commission in the blink of an eye. Remember Kato, Izumi, and Kei were probably the biggest badasses to be transferred into the room. Kato having taken out a super-intelligent 1000 Arms w/ a broken suit, one arm sliced off, and a sword; Izumi being a Japanese Micheal Jordan; and Kei... well I don't feel the need to explain this one. So it only makes sense that Kato looked like God compared to the Osakans who were extremely cocky and not too bright.

It could go that way actually since there seems to a never ending cycle of new aliens that are getting stronger and smarter with the missions. They should vary it a bit so that there are some quick and easy ones perhaps. :/

I think that in the future (depending on how long Gantz will last for) there may be some good aliens that join Gantz. A potential route... but I'm not sure.. It still has a matrix style feel to it. It makes the end of the world scenario nearer now that the aliens and the team have become visible.

The feeling you get through this manga is that of the desperate need of survival and despair. There is always a glimmer of hope too (revival etc) but you know that not even the hero lives. (Eg. Kei)

In that sense the happy ending is not guaranteed if anything- if there is a 'happy ending' it will be where there is a desperate fight where there is a couple of survivors, not necessarily the best team members and in that ending the survivors don't compare to the losses/deaths. It'll be epic, imo..

Seriously Host Samurai is the one you should be looking out for. I'll cry if he ends up dying without showing his potential. >.<
I think the vamps have realised they'll have to co-operate with the team to be free so that they can continue to hunt for them.. kinda ironic.

As for the aliens, they just need to terminate the master boss. The others are small fry as that Takeshi boy has shown. The two semi leaders are already down. It's up to the Oki guy and Kato and the rest of the team to actually do some damage. Again I'm hoping the Host Samurai comes into it. >.<

I doubt the bimbos from the Osaka team will do much but die (fingers crossed). The young mom might survive.. I think they'll join up to form a stronger team.. maybe.

Because the time restrictions don't apply anymore the missions are naturally longer and it doesn't help that this one is really difficult. I think there will be a couple of survivors and maybe one or two may have reached the 100 pt mark after this mission.

I think that there could be some sort of epiphany that they get from this mission that might change some of their thinking including the cowards. The Tokyo team needs more assertive/aggressive characters- maybe it'll happen with the current members as well as the imminent newbs.

I think a lot of the main cast may stick around until the end or at least near it, b/c Gantz is getting to the point where you just can't kill off important characters just for the hell of it or for a change in pace. I know we all applaud the realism of it and how death can happen at anytime but the fact is it's still a story and you can't keep switching out heroes and protagongists just b/c you want to. Then there would be no point of the story up until that point.

I'm not all saying they all are going to die but they will eventually get 100 points, at that point they will choose to leave unless oku gives them a reason to stay.

The same thing happened with Kei. he neared 100 points and a reason was made up for him to stay, the fact that he ended up leaving and subsequently dieing is besides the point. The reason for him to keep fighting existed and he was faced with a dilemma.

Oka exclaims: "Attack me as many times as you want and wherever you want, come on!"

Nuri roars and attacks Oka, but Oka counters it destroying the monster's left knee with his super knucles (using his right arm).

Nuri falls and Oka destroys its jaw (using his left arm).

Oka: You might not believe me, but I used to play ping-pong when I was a student"

While his jaw shatters, Nuri's tentacles (maybe his tail, I'm not sure) attacks Oka, but the man evades it and using his elbow blades, at last beheads the 100 pointer.

Oka murmurs something next to the monster's corpse: "I've also studied some Karate through correspondence"(TN: I believe there's an expression more fitting but I couldn't remember what it was, anyway I think most of you will get the picture)

Katou: "He... won?"

Why is everyone complaining. The oni alien battle was like 20 chapters. And every mission before that was 11 chapters at the least. On top of that there was more to this mission than the ones before it. The team is visible to civilians, no time limit, it's all the way across the country, different weapons, new players, people who have cleared 100 pts multiple times, etc.

So it's gonna take a lotta time to explain even a little bit of that and make it worth your while to even care about what's going on.

I think the area is getting smaller to FORCE the Tokyo team to battle the 100pointer. The thing is won't Oka know about the Tokyo team and welcome them? Since he already did battle with another 100Pointer he probably knows the danger and how difficult it is.

I honestly think that in the end it would be a "planet of the apes moment". The Gantz team will find out that they aliens were peaceful the entire time and that there were previous teams of Gantz that hunted down vamps/aliens for fun or to remove competition. So it'd be a "we were the monsters all along!!!".

I think as for females chars go, Tea was used to add a little "reality" back into the mix, because let's face it if Tea wasn't there they wouldn't really interact with regular human life at all. Also the BJ scene is trying to show how close her and Kei had become, think about it that's her first boyfriend, BJs are like the holy grail of things to do. The BJ could have been added just to take the readers away from the tense atmosphere.

I will agree the first mission was the best. all the confusion, and conflicting emotion. thats why I prefer the time between missions to the actual missions, and this latest mission is not the greatest, but the feeling you got reading the first mission for the first time, you can not get that back in this series. Even if Oku wipes the whole team and starts anew, YOU still know. they are confused but you are not. that said its not bad and if you ignore the violence their is something here to enjoy in the characters. Anyway I don't think the next mission is going to be this packed with aliens, at least I hope not.

I think Nurari is gonna transform again. Perhaps eventually Oka will be able to kill it with Kato's help, and use the 100 points to revive Kei as a result.

The mission has last too long. I hope the vampire will join the fight against Nurari.

Man, latest chapter was good. At least it wasn't a major disappointment compared to last chapter, so that could be affecting my opinion here. Well this mission isn't over yet but if I had to guess it's only got around 3-4 chapters left, so I'm eager for the mission to end. That Nurari alien isn't dead yet, but I'm expecting that it'll be over soon. Well chapter wise, not time wise >_>

Personally, all those resurrection of Nuri didn't bored me...I still don't understand his attack but well. This chapter was good, I just realise it was swords on Oka's combinaison. Now I wonder what form Nuri will take, maybe the Tokyo team may shine at a moment? (Katou...). It won't be more than 2-3 chapters, but I wonder if we'll get to see the true identity of Oka before this mission end...

I think the one thing that keeps my reading Gantz is the rush. It isn't that good a manga (imo) but the fact that people are human & die easy means that you're not excited for the fights (well I'm not) when your fave characters goes to fight because you never know if he/she will die or not. Anyone no matter how main or important could die & at many minute & I don't want characters like Kaze, or his kid or the old man or the vampires to die >_<

Sadly sacrifcing MCS means you get that cheap option on the 100 point menu.

Well you can't really deny this chapter was at least a little better than the last. Sure the words were corny but at least something happened. I think aside from Oka's dialogue this chapter was fairly good, Nuri will be back but I think this will probably be the last transformation. To me it signifies the mission's coming closer to an end.

And I agree Meth, I think the Tokyo team(i.e. Katou) might have one more chance to shine just a little, though Katou probably won't be stealing the spotlight here.

It was a bit better, but aside from a little punches there wasn't much... Nuri, after all seemed to be even weaker than this Minotaurspider Oka fought before... and Nuri is the strongest of the aliens after all, gladly this isn't the end, yeah^^

Ah yeah, I didn't remember of Host vampire, he could help if he want to save the girl. Now, it's no more than one transformation left (if not, it's going to be too much). Maybe I'm thinking of a final blow like when Kei and Izumi did it together...Cause I don't see Katou winning here, nor having 100 points already, but some share could be good (unless the Vampire host get the 100 points in the first mission...)

Well at least there has been some sort of positive development in defeating the Nurari. This Oka guy is really shining atm. I hope it lasts. I think that Katou may be help Oka too, in the end, but Oka alone is capable of defeating him without any others' help too perhaps.. :/

-Prediction- I feel that maybe the two (Oka and Nuri) will battle each other (I'm predicting another final transformation too btw) and will come to a point that they're both near wasted- cue Katou in hero mode- the end. Pts allocated to Katou- Kei revived! *.*

I guess the other useless Tokyo/Osaka members will just standby and watch the master (Oka) do his work.. Katou needs to show the Tokyo team who's boss, well who should be anyway...

Reika doesn't quite cut it to be the leader. The leaders do not need to be supermen (or women >.<) but it would help if they did stick together and fight when there is a chance of surviving; rather than being cowardly and hoping to survive when there's no chance... They need to eliminate the aliens before they can return-Fact. >.>

I wanted Host Samurai to turn up but I'm not sure how he can sort of 'enter' the battle zone- if that makes sense. He might just about be able to keep hold of the 'bad guy' title and kill the Nuri when it's down. As for the cig puffing-whilst-effortlessly-fighting-look... Just.. *.*

The picture where Oka crashes the ground is totally amazing, people bein' cut by the shards makes it more than just real.

Nuri couldn't die so easily in only one chapter, I guess in less than two chapters we should see the end of the Osakan arc and the story will follow on. Oku has a lot of content to deliver, many questions to answer, hopefully he'll do it properly as he did in the previous chapters (well things used to be different, the aliens are much stronger, two teams instead of one, no time limit...).

I feel satisfied, all I wanna be sure of is that Oku will deliver a chapter in two weeks as he's supposed to.

Well I've always said that when Gantz is at it's worst it's still among the best. This chap wasn't horrible but for Gatnz we expect a little more; there was no "umph" in this chap like the last few. The only part that really impressed me was when Nuri used that crazy Dismemberment Blast to destroy the area and Oka was just strolling through the breeze.

Though as bad as this chap was... when Nuri akwakens and unleashes his full power, then the fight Mankind's strongest vs. the strongest of the aliens will get the heat, it's supposed to have...

If you think of it in a sense of who's left in the Tokyo team that can actually contribute well to the team.. then there's Host Samurai, the vamp girl (they both can fight + Host is there as eye candy! >.<), Katou (leader), Reika (she still has her uses), Muscle Rider and the kid (His strength is a real plus but he's present only with the kid..)

Everyone else is borderline useless.. unless I missed anyone out. :/

Yeah, Sakata is dead. And he was one of my favorite characters too! :( I think all that's left to like is Muscle Rider and Katou (who despite his pacifist sort of attitude remaining is still kinda badass), and of course Kei and Nishi. As for him staying dead, I don't know...he might come back later if Sakurai decides to revive him, but then again who knows. Sakata was killing himself with his psychic powers, to the point his organs were like an old man's, and he even saw how he was bleeding from his eyes and nose...he might kill himself again if he did revive. Maybe.
