i love this manga too but its just going way too slow...and mangaka is getting old....so i hope he is able to even finish the manga, i got much love for guts....i dont know how anyone could put up with that...griffith needs to die...and ive been wondering about the behelit that seems to be around guts i remember he threw it away or something and it still ended up back with him or is my information mixed up? if it is true, foreshadowing something??? well so much more that could happen and i dont see griffith dying anytime soon...but guts might die in almost every chapter...sooo sad, I LOVE IT!

I'm reading the manga at the moment, and it certainly is original. I don't really like how Gatts (or Gattu or Guts or whatever his name is) is a pretty nice guy but tries his hardest to act like a dick to everyone. I would prefer him to be a bad-***, but more like he is during his stint with the Hawks. Also, apparently every other soldier in the world really sucks. There's a huge group of guys, yet they still insist at coming one at a time.

This thread needs some serious debate.

What do you think is going to happen on Skelling Island? Chapter 287, Guts' last line heavily implied that Casca isn't going to get her memory back. If that happens, Guts most likely will drop her off that island, once he's recovered and go back to Midland to settle his score with Griffith. Possibly with the help of Shierke, though it's doubtful she will approve of such plan.

And also I wonder if something will be done about the Berserker Armor. If he ever plans to fight against Griffith and the rest of the God Hand, he will need any help and power-ups he can get. If the armor is still used in future encounters, he will have to take some precautions. There's no meaning in fighting if you kill yourself before you can achieve your goal.

nah, i think hell use the berserker armor form now on even more, cuz its just too cool^^
and i dont think that he would leave casca alone, something like that wouldn't happen (i hope so at least). i think Casca will regain her memory, but wont go fighting with Gutts against Griffith. ^^
And about that kill yourself before u achieve your goal thing, i think Gutts will kill the Godhands (Griffith too) and then die because of the armor. :D

If Guts had kept fighting against Grunbeld's Apostle form he would have died in the end. He can't go on like this...he needs something that will keep him alive and enable to continue to fight. And I'm afraid, Shierke might not be around when it becomes critical.

But then again, Shierke might come along since it was Griffith who commanded Flora's execution.

uhhh.. judging by what has happened so far with the berserker armor, I think Guts will, with the help of Schierke, be able to use the armor without fear of losing control, Griffith will then surrender to his awesome power, Casca will regain her sanity, and they will live together in cozy little house, have twelve kids, and rent a room out to Griffith. Sounds pretty plausible to me.

I don't think he will become Femto anytime soon, since he went through all that trouble just to become human again. I think he will stay human, continue to carry out his dream of conquering the known world, while Guts continues his quest to regain Caska's sanity. Once she is sane again, Guts and Griffith will confront each other.

Plus that one person, I think one of Griffith's men wanted to kill him, might help them out somehow, though doubtful. He could get his goal pretty soon with his current crew, but with how things are going he might make his move in a bit more time, considering his army is now considered the official army of Midland he could invade whenever he wanted if it were not for how powerful some countries are.

I wouldn't really call it her sanity, though she is insane, its mostly just returning her memories. We'll see once they get to Elfhelm if the king can restore them.

Hmm... I'm not to certain if any of Griffith's men would betray him, since everybody who sees him seems to become enchanted just by his appearance, I would also think he is too smart to let anybody betray him from right under his nose, but I won't rule it out as a possiblilty.

its not that they want to betray Griffith, its that they want to gain his attention by killing those who still have the mark and are still alive. As long as they are alive, Griffith can not realize his dream. Isnt that how its supposed to go?

Its one of my favorite manga. Its actually the first manga i ever read. I know it takes the releases a long time, its like a volume every two months. But i really like how detailed the art is, because the art from Berserk can kill lots of other manga, even the popular Bleach and Naruto

Rickert survived out of just plain luck, since he wasn't there during the events of the eclipse, but he would be dead too if he had been there :P I like how his character had developed though, its a good thing he didn't die

You are not serious, are you? You got any idea how long Berserk is running? Since 1989!

Berserk is running for 18 years by now. And the 32th volume isn't even out. At the very best he manages 2 volumes in a year. In the last few years it was more like 1 volume in a year.

And the next chapter comes out September.

Well, she is kinda crazy...

I just finished 289 last night. I have to say, Farnese's fiance is quickly becoming awesome. I like him quite a bit. What I'd like to see is Guts become totally awesome, like the skull knight, and end up killing Zodd and bringing Griffith down. Notice I didn't say "killing" Griffith. The whole idea of Griffith now is that he's so divine that he's untouchable. I just want Guts to destroy everything Griffith has, to make him lose everything, and then have Griffith die some other way than by Guts hand. Suicide would be an interesting path to take.

i like gutts vs zodd better than one with griffith, because i think griffith is really strong and caska deserve to kill him more than gutts. but it will be too difficult to kill griffith now that he known as a divine hero and a future king of midland.

about gutts band vs the hawks. i think it will be a massacre unless gutts team be trained, given awesome weapons or be a half demon also.

Chapters tend to take a long time to be released for Berserk, who knows how long it'll take before someone releases it.

I adore this series! At first I thought it was a hack and slash gore-fest just for the sake of it (not that I'm complaining ^^) but then it slowly unfolds into this massive DARK adventure. The art in some of the demonic scenes is simply epic, reminds me of Gustave Dore's illustrations for Dante's inferno and Paradise Lost . Amazing, go Kentaro!!!

If I remember right the little boy they found at the beach was supposedly him...so either it died or somehow lived. Yet we still don't know his intentions, like does he really want Gutts dead...because it kept him alive but it might be waiting until its older and stronger to kill him later.

Actually, if i remember right, Griffith incarnated in the body of the son of caska.
Thats why when griffith and gatts meet in the cementery of swords, he says that he is not yet inmune to gatts because of the creature lingering affection to their parents.

Yeah this chapter was removed because it held too much of the plot way at a point where it was not intended to be said/explained.

The whole "Idea of evil" concept is something that's gonnas be explained by the God Hand later on in the manga.

But if you guys are really concerned about the true explanations of this term, head over skullknight.net - their forum is a pure encyclopedia of Berserk.

BTW: Berserk is "the best" manga ever written, I can't believe how old that serie is... since the 80s... GUTS HAS TO LAND AT ELFHEIM NEXT CHAPTER OR I'LL GO CRAZY!!!

berserk is awesome, it's my favourite manga, even considering it came out before i was born (im 16) but i read over 100 different manga and berserk is my favourite! anywayz i hope guttz/gatts/gatsu w/e his name is now.... gets to the fairy place so he get's some of his scars healed and maybe his right eye back o.o , also i wanna see more of caska and gatts' relationship cuz i think it lasted too short before griffith's gay god hand meeting thingy.

Hopefully Caska gets her memories back, i dont want any BS plot twist making it not happen

So do I, I'm already missing the old Caska.
Last week, I have read the whole story again and it gets more clear.
I didn't know that I have overread so much details.

For example (on the beach, fight between Guts, his companions versus possesed croc's and a whale on the beach), when Guts turns, in berserk mode, against the group.
Here we see Schierke trying to get Guts out of berserk but there's someone before her.
I thought it was her, but now I reconsider. It might have been that child. Possible the Elf king.

I hope the next chapter comes soon, because it has been months since 292 has come out..

He did tried to rape her but I don't think he did, there's been a lot of people arguing over this but I think I'm right.

Caska not gettin' her memory back? WTF!!! Everyone can tell that ever since the Eclipse she's been a total pain, she can't speak, she doesn't even understand what people are telling her... I'd rather see her comin' back to her senses then suicidin' instead of livin' this miserable life.

Gutts recovery will be formed by two steps, Caska's love and the Elf King's magic... which would somehow fix the link between Gutt's inner-demon (the dog) and the Berserker Armor.

I admit the writer is totally lost, the last chapters have been leadin' us *nowhere* and it's been an eternity between the releases.

I'll probably be 40 when the serie ends and by then, the writer is probably gonna be dead.

Sad, Berserk is by far, the best manga ever imo...

It is sad. Berserk, hunterxhunter and 21 century boys are all failing to deliver and they are supposed to be the best manga's in the world.
I mean, sure naruto has turned to crap. But nobody really cares about that since it wasn't that good to begin with, and the average naruto reader wouldn't recognise good manga if it hit him/her in the face, almost died, powered up out of sheer tenacity, then hit him/her in the face again.
But these manga's failing to deliver has gotten to be a big letdown for me. I hope they get their act together again, cause you just hate seeing stuff like this happen.

Anyway i do hope caska doesn't heal. Her mind should stay shattered since she broke down with good reason and wouldn't be able to take reality, and it gives gutts hate. That's what he's been using to stay alive for his entire life and it would be weird to change now.

I beg to differ. HxH is delivering much more so than the other two that you mentioned...now if youre talking about the hiatuses then I agree.

Nope i'm talking about the last 10 chapters (at the least) being way underpar of the normal level of this manga.
I would still rank it as my all time favourite. But if it keeps on like this, i don't know what to do. Ever since the return of hiatus it has been infuriating me on such a profound level that it actually made me realise how much i love reading manga. I didn't even know i cared so much.

And Berserk is doing the exact same thing lately. (although to be fair, i did enjoy the fight scene between Isisdro and Azan)

when i started reading the manga(a couple months ago right before the latest release) i was really excited that the writer was starting up again but then really disappointed when he went on break again... i would have prefered him wait a little longer and put out some better material in the last few chapters then put out the below standard stuff that just started confusing me in the last few... it truely is one of the best mangas ive read i just wish there was more consistant good quality releases... the same thing with HxH i just started reading HxH fairly recently but i noticed a change in the style of writing when the time jump between releases happened... i hope that both writers will have figured out what they want to write about before then continue because the past few chapters from both mangas have been overly confusing.

Agree. 20th CB was good until the Friends era started. Last volume is very confusing (thus need 21st CB), but I like how the first chapter got images from the last volume. This only proves how well did Naoki plans his stories.

And Berserk ... just plain boring nowadays. I cuaght up like 3 years ago, and barely anything happened during those time (except for that town fight with the lighting guy). I am purely disappointed.

For HxH, I skipped some chapters due to the bad graphics. It had almost been 6 years since I follow it, but with all those breaks and bad drawings I just couldn't stand it @@ (especially the middle of the ant arc was boring.)

Um, hard to understand what you're asking really, but I too sorta feel like that was gatt's and caska's child. But now that I think back to it...what the heck happened to him??

I love this manga and I was really impressed by how the plot flowed almost seamlessly and how something in the plot volumes behind was able to be used perfectly in a chapter way into the future. Great plot planning.( Not to mention the sick action! :D)

Anyways, I think that kid is Guts' (It is GUTS, not Gattsu, not Gatts, not Gatz, or any of the other spellings) and Casca. Remember, that freak at that monestary ate it? Maybe now it has a normal body.

Eatin' the kid Caska ate gave ressurection to Griffith, who's now also known as Femto, what I believe is that the rebirth of the antogonist also gave the "moonlight" kid's birth. I first thought it was the "good" left in Griffith but I believe he could be some under-scheme since he stared at the Crocodiles and they ran away.

For whoever's interrested, next chapter is supposed to come out February 22th.

I love the Berserk manga. Reading through to like the 30th volume was the greatest thing ever. The manga-ka's pace though, is killing me. All these breaks, and the schedule is already short on chapters so we end up getting 2 a month. It's insane. It shows no signs of ending and I dunno if he will live to finish the series...

I've read it more than once, the idea of evil is "God" in Berserk's world because it has gathered everyone's fears and pain unto something that thinks/acts by itself. It wants to survive. I like this idea because God is made by everyone's thoughts and we know how the world of Berserk is twisted now, so it just make sense that the Idea is evil...

Most likely the Idea has already spoken to the God Hand and the Skeleton Knight probly knows about it's goals/powers. Somehow I believe destroyin' the Idea is the only way to weaken/downgrade Femto's just as the God Hand.

Berserk is licensed by Dark Horse and wont be updated anymore, you will have to find another online manga read place or buy the books instead.

Berserk is THE best manga I've been reading so far. The story line, the plot, the characters, the idea, the realization,... EVERYTHING is brilliant.

Please a minute of silence for the Berserk manga....... (in the mean time think about what you made of your life; do a typing exercise for a +1 Dexterity boost, or something else)

Where was I? Oh yeah.. So, the Beserk is the BEST. Just one little remark: I think that Miura-san could do a better explanation of the Gods Hand and their place in this world. BUT, maybe he left it to our imagination. Who knows.

this is one of those bloody & gory manga that i liked. but seriously its not just that, the story is great, the characters are unique and its twists that whats make it on par with BoTi & Vagabond.
